@knobjockey thank you. I'm really just trying to get work finished and then I can relax a little more. So a lot of work for a short period and then hopefully a few weeks off before any more drama.

I'm getting myself in a right state imagining being away from DD in hospital for a long period. And we have no childcare help within 2 hours so DH would have to do almost all of it while I'm at hospital.

Megan2018 · 16/07/2019 17:25

@IVEgottheDECAF no I can't start any earlier, am using holiday to finish on the 16th which is still 4 weeks before EDD, mat leave isn't until 2 Sept and I really don't want to start any earlier as it will mess up my return. I can't afford any more unpaid time off but really don't want to start back next August as that makes work difficult as we work on an academic calendar. I want to return 1 Sept when I will have missed all of the A Level crap, returning in the midst of that would be hell after a year off.

I feel really well physically too, so I think more than 4 weeks at home would do my head in!

Megan2018 · 16/07/2019 17:28

@Stroan must be really hard to get your head around this sudden change! I think being worried is entirely understandable - but they are monitoring you so well that they will make the right call for you and baby, and soonest they are out the sooner you can get on with things and forget about the blooming GD nonsense.
I would literally die for a muffin though right now!

Megan2018 · 16/07/2019 17:36

@kyles101 there's no "someone" to tell though really. I'm senior management but my diary is manic between now and when I finish as I have so many boards etc to cram in before I stop.

There are one or two things I might be able to shunt by 30 mins but it just extends my working day so I'll be home that much later, so it doesn't really help me in the long run.

I have noticed I have got 3 all day workshops which do include lunch though so on those days I will be able to stop to eat, I just need to take my own!

It doesn't help that I am not a morning person and breakfast at 7am makes me feel crap, but by lunchtime I am starving. If I could get up and eat a full English that early I am sure lunchtimes would be better, at the weekends I have a late brunch and then a small late lunch and those readings are fine. But try telling my body to co-operate with that first thing. Some mornings the breakfast makes a reappearance even when it is just a yoghurt. it's not morning sickness though - it's just a "my body hates being awake this early" thing.

I'll give the clinic a ring and see what they say - it might be best all round to just take the metformin tbh, I'm worried these high readings are not doing baby any good. Although I've not yet had 3 in a row.

happydays00 · 16/07/2019 17:56

@Stroan that sounds really worrying for you. Do they have any ideas what would cause such a drop?

I know that the prospect of a baby born at 33 weeks is terrifying but I have been quite reassured by the consultants so far. Just take one day at a time. Did they issue you with steroids today to aid Fetal lung maturity? Hopefully a positive sign of baby staying put if they didn't? What weight is baby on your growth scans?

happydays00 · 16/07/2019 17:58

Thanks all for your concern, luckily the contractions aren't constant but they do seem to be ramping up (hoping if I get a good nights sleep tonight they may settle again tomorrow). I'll try telling my DD that too: Mummy needs her sleep!!!

I am working, was doing 4 days a week but am now doing 3.5 - 4 spread over 5 to try and help me get some more rest. I'm freelance so really trying to go as long as possible as money is a problem.

The 6 weeks since sending my maternity allowance is up tomorrow so they're first on my list to call!

Hsunshine · 16/07/2019 18:02

@happydays00 what happened to make you start getting all your scans? Your situation sounds similar to mine

kyles101 · 16/07/2019 18:08

@Megan2018 I think I'd block out my calendar for lunch and reorganise meetings where possible. 30 mins would do, quickish lunch and a little walk. But it's whatever works at the end of the day. I'm not a great example because lunch is always at my desk working, but we have a great kitchen so I'm lucky.

Literally counting down the days at work - 18 left whoop bloody whoop.

My dining room is full of a lot of plastic baby shite 😬

kyles101 · 16/07/2019 18:12

Also, @Megan2018 do you need 3 high readings in a row to call into the clinic? We've all been told 2 high readings within a week and we have to call!!

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/07/2019 18:26

happydays did you have a confirmation text? Cant believe its not sorted in the 6 weeks Shock

happydays00 · 16/07/2019 18:49

@IVEgottheDECAF yup, got the text confirming they had received my application and would be in touch within 6 weeks. Annoying!

happydays00 · 16/07/2019 18:51

@Hsunshine I had a routine growth scan at 26 weeks (I think.. around then anyway) and they picked up I had excess amniotic fluid. Since then it has risen approx 1cm a week until it reached 12cm but has now (touching every piece of wood around me) plateaued for around the last 3 weeks.

Do you also have Polyhydramnios?

Whisky2014 · 16/07/2019 19:01

Oh I only just sent my form away like 3 days ago. Eek maybe that was a bit late?

I have a question about changing nappies.
Do you change them as soon as they are wet? (Not pooey, I know I need to change asap if they are poop). But say through the night if I know he is wet, Do I change him each time?

Whisky2014 · 16/07/2019 19:01

God I'm such a novice!

DustyDoorframes · 16/07/2019 19:02

Argh @IVEgottheDECAF and @happydays00 I need to get off my bottom and sort out my MA... I'm umming and ahing re when to start it, but I think I'll settle for the 23rd sept (39 weeks), doing 1 day/2 halves per week in the previous two weeks (and I have a tiny employed job which owes me a good few weeks holiday so I'll stop that much sooner.). Not sure if that's a bit loony though!!
@Stroan stopping work sooner sounds v wise! And I'm glad you are in touch with the MH team.
@easterbuns1 how are you doing?? I've been thinking of you.
@Megan2018 It's such a jigsaw of different stuff to balance, isn't it! I remember you doing well with curries in the evening- making a vat at the weekend and freezing it in chunks could give a speedy microwave supper to break up the SaladsSaladsSalads monotony of doom??? (Also- as someone who REALLY needs to eat on time, I've never yet been in a meeting of any level where anyone has objected to a pregnant woman eating her lunch. Obvs not going to work if you are on stage flapping your gown around though!)

DustyDoorframes · 16/07/2019 19:03

@Whisky2014 god no re wet nappies!! You'd be there forever and we'd drown in the dirties...

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/07/2019 19:06

Depends on the baby re the wet nappies. One of mine would go nuts once wet and the only thing that would sort him out is a dry nappy! This didnt last however and he wasnt day time dry til over 3 and night time was age 7!

McShakey · 16/07/2019 19:18

I finally got the hospital bag packed today, I have a funny feeling she’s going to come early

Hsunshine · 16/07/2019 19:53

@happydays00 oh yes that was you! I knew someone had the fluid that kept increasing. Hope it stays plateaued for you now.
My scans are for growth, they thought for 6 weeks it was restricted a lot but last scan it had steadied out so have another one this week to check and I hope they’ll book c section in for August
I’ve had a lot of pain recently though so I feel like baby is getting ready

Dipsy77 · 16/07/2019 20:02

#happydays let me know how it goes on the maternity allowance my 6 weeks is next Tuesday although on another group I'm on a girl rung today after 6 weeks and was told it would be at least another 4 weeks it's so stressful ☹️

Stroan · 16/07/2019 20:28

@whisky2014 definitely depends on the baby. DD never cared about sitting in her own filth (not that I left her sitting in it!) and we realised quickly that changing her too much overnight was just waking her up and keeping her awake! But nappies are really absorbent.

@happydays00 a drop can be an indication that the placenta is failing. Normally between 32-36 weeks, there's an increase in hormones that make blood sugar levels higher and more erratic. The hormones ease off at 37 so some people see a natural drop off then. But it's not supposed to happen at 32/33 weeks really.

They can't give me steroids without admitting me to hospital - steroids play havoc with blood sugars (of course they do....!) so I would have to be in hospital for 2-3 days before birth and be monitored hourly throughout. I've heard they are sore! Have they given you some?

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 16/07/2019 20:53

@Whisky2014 I still haven't sent off
my MA form so it's not just you 🙈
Was in hospital for 3 hours earlier, having a lot of pain in my leg so had to go to triage in case of dvt (Midwife was concerned because I am high risk). But DH came out of work to look after DD and we expected it to be a quick one so it's been a stressful day!

DustyDoorframes · 16/07/2019 20:59

This thread is not having an easy third trimester!!!! Enough hospital trips already, surely we've exceeded our quota now and can have a lovely quiet last few weeks????? ThanksThanksto everyone having to deal with complications many and various!!

challengeyourreality · 16/07/2019 21:20

Just read through the feed and caught up with the messages.
@iano Yes I had a CS and feel some pain in my scar. Just started max. a week ago and is very sporadic but definitely feels like it's the scar and also caused me to question how normal/safe that is. I will ask my midwife when I see her next.
As with others, people are commenting multiple times a day about how low my stomach is, how big, asking if it's only one baby and expressing shock when I say I'm due in September. I feel under the spotlight which is not nice when I also feel so unattractive and I'm really, really out of clothes options now. 2 dresses have holes in them and are bobbling, others that are not maternity but were tenty enough to act as such are too short, elegant maternity day dresses cannot even zip over my boobs. My friends had a shower for me at the weekend and I looked out a knitted dress I wore with 2nd preg. that I thought would be appropriate and I couldn't wear it as my boobs are so enormous compared to my body, I looked ridiculous.
Baby is very low as people keep mentioning, when I sit my stomach rests on my thighs which is especially annoying behind my desk as a lot of baby movement is happening down there and it does feel like I may be squashing her. Concentrating on work is not happening. The main problem is I am getting occasional shooting pains down the backs of my legs, I think from the pressure on my lower back but I'm probably carrying myself wrongly and damaging my pelvis or something. Either that or the (very uncomfortable) yoga I've been doing is not having the benefits I was promised.
Sleeping is also going dreadfully - baby moves a lot, I'm peeing very often and my nose was streaming for 2 nights which may be hayfever but may also be illness.
Not sure what pram to go for but very tired of browsing resale sites to find a good quality one for a good price...
Okay now that's out I really hope I start feeling better!
31+6

Hsunshine · 16/07/2019 21:31

Is anyone getting a second car seat (if you have 2 cars) have a baby / pram one but thinking of getting one of those ones that stay in the car for our other car when we don’t take the pram. Is that crazy
