@DustyDoorframes I think I requested my maternity allowance to start around end of September as I get paid a 6-8 weeks in arrears for this contract so if I can manage to stay working until at least end of July / first week of August, I shouldn't miss a month of "pay". Whether or not I'll manage that remains to be seen.

@Hsunshine such good news to hear your growth has stabilised a bit. Do you have a plan for delivery already?

@Stroan gosh that is a scary situation for you. Good that they are listening to you and taking it seriously though. I haven't had steroids for this baby but had them before DD's delivery as I was induced early. They were sore at the time, and I can't say I'm looking forward to them again, but they were done quickly so I'm just reminding myself it's a very short lived pain😬

challengeyourreality · 16/07/2019 21:38

@Hsunshine , that sounds like a good idea. We don't have 2 cars but if I did I would definitely want one for each.

DustyDoorframes · 16/07/2019 21:59

@Stroan meant to say- re the guilt- I know I would feel the same, and I know you would tell me (or whoever else) something very wise about how this stuff with the insulin is just nothing to do with how you felt and what you thought, this is the pregnancy you were going to have and that's that. Yours (and this placenta's) hormones are clearly super powered and have hit you so hard in so many ways (HG, GD, mood and thoughts, and more and more). You are wise and very competent, so you've managed to keep trucking on to a phenomenal degree- but you need to give yourself such a pat on the back! Those hormones are STRONG and recognising that, and that the crummy crummy thoughts and feelings are massively due to that, is important.

Hsunshine · 16/07/2019 22:11

@challengeyourreality I just wear my dresses too short Blush have you narrowed down any pram choices

@happydays00 at my 29 scan they said 37 weeks max but then at 31 they said they’ll see how this one is first. Hopefully this week they are deciding

Megan2018 · 16/07/2019 22:22

@kyles101 yes our booklet says three at the same time of day or three at different times but over consecutive days

challengeyourreality · 16/07/2019 22:24

@Hsunshine , I like the Bugaboo Buffalo (predecessor of Fox) for it's height and large wheels and most seem well cared for. I also like the Joolz (Day or Geo) as I had a Joolz Day for dc1 and a bit for dc2 and was happy with it and it sold for a very good price afterwards. It also has a lifetime guarantee and I can buy it for less than the Bugaboo. What did you choose?

Megan2018 · 16/07/2019 22:31

@Hsunshine we will need a second car seat when I’m back at work but not bothering until then. We are getting 0-4 combination seats I think, not one for the pushchair as useless here due to distance from shops etc. The “spare” will be something cheap-ish eg Mothercare own brand as will only get used occasionally.
For my car I want one that spins, like the Joie or Cybex, they are next on the list! But for DH’s car it’ll be something that is safe but more basic to save £. In reality it’ll only get used for nursery pick up for 15 mins at a go.

BBell2 · 16/07/2019 22:35

@Hsunshine we had an infant carrier per car - the one with our travel system and its base (maxi cosi) then bought the spare orf a mate, barely used - her boy outgrew the seat loads faster then my little girl. I strapped that though, she needed to keep the base.
With the Extended rear facing next stage seat we def need two, moving them is too heavy and difficult. The costs were eye watering but where I'd rather spend our money (dh is a fireman and seen some bad accidents with children).

BBell2 · 16/07/2019 22:38

@Hsunshine sorry should have said, we really didnt need two whilst the baby and seat were movable. It was only good at 12 months when she started nursery, we alternated pick-up drop offs - so didnt need to leave a seat in nursery.

TheCraicDealer · 16/07/2019 22:47

We got a Cybex Aton free with the pram, but not the base. Have decided to skip the isofix base and put the £85 towards a 0-4 spin Joie or Britax for my car. Then we can use the cybex bucket seat for DH's car, taxi rides, holidays, if they're staying with GPs etc. The ERF seats with the integrated bases just aren't practical to move between cars.

Still completely baffled by the i-size thing. There are Joie and Britax Römer spin seats which are around the £200 mark, but the updated i-size ones start about £300. Everything I've read says the the pre-i-size versions are still safe (obviously, not like they're suddenly unsafe overnight), but worried that in a few years they'll no-longer be allowed and I'll have to buy a new one anyway!

easterbuns1 · 16/07/2019 22:50

@DustyDoorframes thank you, I'm just the same really. The older two are away to their dad for a week on Friday too for their summer holiday so not looking forward to that either, I really miss them when they are away longer than the weekend. Trying to look at the positives that I won't be woken up by being asked for Xbox the at 7am in the morning (the answer is always bloody no!).

Hsunshine · 16/07/2019 22:54

@challengeyourreality I was desperate for a stokke but just way too big for my car. Then it turned out any pram with big wheels didn’t easily fit in so I got a silver cross with little wheels. If you had a joolz before and liked it that’s good

Megan2018 · 16/07/2019 22:54

@TheCraicDealer yes I think the same about i-size, they are more money for what seems the same same thing function wise. I don’t see how they are safer. I think usually when they change rules it only applies to what is sold new, not to what you can continue to use. They don’t make the Joie in the isize in the colour I want either!

Megan2018 · 16/07/2019 22:57

I got 2 things off my list from Amazon prime day, thermometer and changing bag so that’s a good thing. I am trying to find the “good” things right now so I don’t cry Grin

Hsunshine · 16/07/2019 22:58

I made a snap decision to order a second. For the pram we have a pebble plus. And I just ordered an 0-4 one for the other car, that doesn’t fit the pram in anyway so we don’t really need a just baby car seat in there

Stroan · 16/07/2019 23:11

@dustydoorframes you made me cry, in a good way. Thank you SO much, I didn't realise how much I needed to hear that tonight.

Moraxella · 16/07/2019 23:18

I may buy a second hand car seat that looks in good condition. 😬😬

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/07/2019 08:02

Right

Last dry day for a few days so im gonna try wash the moses fabrics, swing fabrics and atleast baby clothes for hospital bag

32+6

Fortheloveofscience · 17/07/2019 08:17

I’m jealous you’re due rain, DECAF! Ours has been promised on the forecast for days and it just keeps being pushed back.

I’ve been awake for a couple of hours and only felt one tiny movement. Going to have to call I think - 30+6.

Stroan · 17/07/2019 08:29

@fortheloveofscience fingers crossed baby is having a lazy morning.

Stroan · 17/07/2019 08:31

I've realised that I really don't have any right to be outraged when people ask me if I'm overdue or say I look ready to drop. See evidence!

(Not that I want anyone to say that today...)

boodles101 · 17/07/2019 09:08

Wow stroan baby look so far down! Feel for your pelvis!

TheCraicDealer · 17/07/2019 09:11

@Stroan you're blooming! My in-laws were careful to describe me as "looking very healthy" at the weekend. I think DH had warned them I'm getting sensitive about the size of the bump.

The best part of that photo though is your DD beginning her escape through the bathroom window by climbing on the loo seat Grin

Stroan · 17/07/2019 09:16

@boodles101 yeah, the PGP is definitely explained by this photo! And it also explains why I don't have any rib pain. He's nowhere near my ribs.

@thecraicdealer I wouldn't go as far as blooming, but thank you, I'll take it. I think DD is all "this baby thing is getting a bit too real, I'm off..."

Hilariously, the midwife did a fundal height measurement yesterday. 39 weeks....

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/07/2019 09:25

Ahhh that is LOW!

I tend to carry high. I went to hospital in labour with my first two in size 8 none maternity jeans with the button open.
