Good luck with the scan Sleeping, hope it all goes well.

That's such a cute picture, MrsP4 - I've no idea if it's a boy or girl but whichever they are they look like they're blowing bubbles because of the yolk sac (if that's what it is). So cute!

Hi everyone, I thought I’d better finally jump into the chat, as I’ve been lurking since early days!

I’m 15+4 and EDD is Jan 9th. Second baby - I have a five year old daughter and it took us a few years to fall pregnant again after a miscarriage, so I’m thrilled and slightly stunned to be here again. We won’t find out the gender again this time, but I’m just feeling boy vibes, although I can’t imagine parenting a boy now! Even though that’s crazy as they’re all just tiny people.

Interesting baby equipment chat. I’ve started looking at a few things and it’s crazy how much stuff has changed over five years - in a good way! Snuzpods were only just out when I was pregnant and now they’re so common! Loads of lovely unisex stuff available aside the usual white/yellow nowadays too, hooray!

We didn’t go too crazy with buying stuff when I was pregnant last time - but even so, in retrospect I’d have bought even less. I reckon essentials are a cot plus sheets, a couple of blankets, playmat/bouncer/beanbag, a few vests and babygrows, hats, a couple of cardies. And then water wipes and nappies and a couple of changing mats (upstairs and downstairs). Oh and importantly stuff for your own recovery! Arnica, witch hazel pads, essential oils for the bath, etc.

All of the stuff like bottles (unless you want to bottle feed obvs!), baby baths, creams, etc are so easy and quick to get from Amazon if needed and you can buy as you need rather than wasting any cash. I had an ergo sling, Moses basket and dummies etc that were just wasted as we didn’t get on with them, which was a shame!

By all means buy what you want to buy though! I know everyone is different - just what I learned from the first time. It seems that everyone’s babies/setups are different, so makes sense to start with the bare bones then add as you need.

Do I need to message Victoria to join the FB group, or can someone else add me? Smile

Thank you @Kinsters It's hard to tell but I think midwife said it's a hand! I was really surprised to see how much it was moving around. Very active! She said she thinks my placenta is going to be in the front so I guess I might not feel baby move much till quite late x

SleepingStandingUp · 22/07/2019 15:32

That is a cool name @Camomila 😊

DaisyMay25 · 22/07/2019 16:54

@MrsP4 lovely photo, I think boy! No idea why!
I have an anterior placenta (found out at my private scan) I heard the same thing regarding movements. I'll just expect not to feel anything really until 24 weeks (as that's the latest)

plipliop · 22/07/2019 16:55

Hi everyone!

Tomorrow is my last day at school before summer hols. Yippee 😁

I am going to try to work until end of autumn term which will be 37 weeks. No idea if I'll make it that far though. I'll be so tired by then. Also, I had DS2 at 38 weeks!

Am feeling some movement now although not regular yet. Can't wait til it can be felt from the outside. I know my boys will love it.

I'm having quite strong boy vibes. Dunno if that is because I already have two or not. This pregnancy feels much like my last two.

I ordered some maternity knickers today and am so pleased with how comfy they are. They are massive though 😅 I'm almost embarrassed of them!

plipliop · 22/07/2019 16:56

@mynameisMrG hope your back is feeling better! It's the shock of falling over that is the worst...

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 22/07/2019 18:07

Any nub or skull experts want to hazard a guess? 😁😁🤭

Jan 2020 - Thread 5!!
mynameisMrG · 22/07/2019 18:17

It is thank you @plipliop, you’re right it was a shock. And I good excuse for a foot rub from DH this evening surely

plipliop · 22/07/2019 19:03

Absolutely!

CatRash · 22/07/2019 20:33

I'm going for girl @PoppingOneOutIn2020 😁

Those with anterior placentas - I had anterior with my first and have this time too (boo). With my first I felt movements at 16 weeks and they could be felt on the outside from 20 weeks so doesn't necessarily mean you won't feel movement soon. I felt movements more to the sides and top/bottom and nothing really at the front though. I could never really see movements either - like you wouldn't see a foot move across your belly or anything.

It made monitoring movements hard but you become super-sensitive to movements as a result.

megganonion · 22/07/2019 21:15

@PoppingOneOutIn2020 beautiful scan!! Voting pink 💗

DaisyMay25 · 22/07/2019 21:48

@megganonion thank you for that info, I'll hopefully feel something soon then. Not gonna lie, glad I won't see the feet coming from the inside!

Cannyhandleit · 22/07/2019 22:49

I've had anterior placenta with all 3 of mine but low down, still got the feet and elbows sticking out at the top of my bump. Ds1 I'm sure used to push out with his bum as I would feel loads of pressure and then you'd see a big lump pushing out between my ribs and belly button! That was very uncomfortable!

plipliop · 23/07/2019 04:47

Pregnancy insomnia strikes again 😴

In other news, it's the last day of term today. Woo hoo summer hols! (And my birthday too 😬)

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 23/07/2019 06:28

Hi guys, thought I'd join up. Had my dating scan yesterday which has actually put me at the end of January.

I was on here before but unfortunately had an early mc so it's nice to see you lot again ☺

mynameisMrG · 23/07/2019 07:35

Happy birthday @plipliop, enjoy your last day. We don’t finish until Wednesday 😭

Fivebyfive2 · 23/07/2019 08:05

@plipliop, happy birthday!! 🎂🎉 The ladies at work were talking about the summer holidays yesterday, just about trying to book time off but not all together, plans to keep kids occupied, childcare etc and it hit me... That'll be me in a while!! Also, dh sat up last night and just said 'we have less than 6 months to go!!'... I was like 'well yeah' 😂😳

plipliop · 23/07/2019 08:16

@mynameisMrG that's practically August FGS!

plipliop · 23/07/2019 08:16

And wow congrats @UnicornsandRainbows1 x

sarah1swims · 23/07/2019 12:51

Hi!

First time Mum, and just had mumsnet recommended to me. So here I am! I'm 16 + 5, with a due date of January 2nd. I'm freaking out a bit! I feel woefully unprepared, and my body doesn't seem to like being pregnant - sickness, fatigue, hip pain, backache, carpal tunnel... Although I am loving the bump Smile

I've just been asking my friends on Facebook whether or not they would recommend NCT classes. Any thoughts? Or can I learn everything I need elsewhere, and meet lots of lovely ladies on here? Smile

Kinsters · 23/07/2019 13:04

Congratulations and welcome fglitter, Unicorns and Sarah!

My cat properly dug her foot into my belly earlier, it was right at the top and I'm pretty sure baby is down at the bottom left so hoping she didn't get kicked too hard! I've been quite careful with making sure she doesn't jump onto my stomach but this was when she was jumping off.
