@SleepingStandingUp no they said that was booked in with one of my other appointments. I'm pretty sure it must be consultant or fetal medicine, I'm not concerned it's just annoying that they can't actually put that information on the letters or on the app.

Chuchu14 · 20/07/2019 07:57

Not very good at keeping up with the thread! Checking in 12 + 4 today and have my 12 week scan. Excited but nervous.

@HungryPanda92 sorry to hear your news. I hope you are resting and getting some support x

DaisyMay25 · 20/07/2019 08:55

How strange, it seems different areas have different protocol! I saw midwife at 12,26 next is 25 then I'm not sure
Saw my consultant at 16 weeks too (waited 45 minutes for a 5 minute appointment!!)
They've said I can get whooping cough now, whenever I want, just book an appointment with my GP.

Got my gender scan later today! I have no idea how I'll concentrate at work

DaisyMay25 · 20/07/2019 08:56

@Chuchu14 hope you scan goes well today!

megganonion · 20/07/2019 09:10

Oh @DaisyMay25 thats so exciting!! Hope all goes well, i wish i had have booked mine for sooner i still have 2 weeks to wait 🙈

Bentley111 · 20/07/2019 10:03

Perhaps @McHelenz - but it's out of her area. So random.

Oh no @Camomila can you not call her and ask if she can explain over the phone?

Good luck today @DaisyMay25 so excited for you!

Felt the baby move for the first time yesterday. Feeling so much better the past few days so we went to see The Lion King I cried at loads of it & think maybe a bit of coke & some sugary popcorn set the little bean off 💕

HungryPanda92 · 20/07/2019 10:05

Thank you everyone for your kind messages. I'm going to Jessops, which is Sheffields maternity wing, for another scan on Tuesday. I'm trying to keep up hope and I've read some success stories from people in my situation but a part of me feels like maybe it's all over. Either way my little baby is so loved by everyone around me.
I'll probably keep popping back here to update but I'm struggling to read everyone's lovely posts so I'll just say I hope everything is going well for you all and best wishes to everyone Flowers

SleepingStandingUp · 20/07/2019 10:28

You'll be in our thoughts Tuesday Panda

Fivebyfive2 · 20/07/2019 13:01

@DaisyMay25, how exciting, let us know how you get on! Is that a private scan can I ask? Xx

We're thinking of having one in a couple of weeks when I'm 17 weeks, mostly as my NHS scan isn't until 21 weeks and seems aaaaages away!!

Sorry I'm so rubbish at keeping up with this thread, it moves so fast!! I'm 15 weeks now and we're starting to get organised, making lists, sorting the house out a bit to make room for baby things when we get them.

DaisyMay25 · 20/07/2019 13:32

Thanks everyone, just three hours to go!!

@Fivebyfive2 yes it's a private one, only £45! I'm too impatient to wait for the 20 week scan!

CatRash · 20/07/2019 13:38

@Camomila I'd ring and ask your midwife why you've been referred to the consultant. The midwife I saw at my 16 week appointment said the midwife who referred me would have written a lovely report to the consultant detailing why I've been referred but it's very unlikely the consultant would have had time to read it therefore I needed to know exactly why I was referred so I could tell the consultant.

Enjoy your scan today @DaisyMay25!

I have everything crossed for you @HungryPanda92. I can't begin to imagine what you're going through.

Camomila · 20/07/2019 16:38

@CatRash I know why I'm consultant led (2nd baby, difficult pg and 3rd degree tear and PPH first time round), it was Bentley111 who has a hospital appointment letter that doesn't say what it's for. I have a vague bloodtest result instead Grin I'll ring the midwife on Monday about it, and if she's not around i'll get DBro to have a go at reading it (he's a paramedic)

Good luck with your scan today @DaisyMay25 I'm toying with the idea of going for an extra scan at 22wks if everything is ok at the 20wk scan as DS really wants to see the baby brother/sister.

CatRash · 20/07/2019 17:10

Whoops lol, think it was actually @Cannyhandleit - I just clicked the first name that came up when I started typing @Ca.... That'll teach me to read!!

Cannyhandleit · 20/07/2019 18:16

Haha @CatRash it gets pretty confusing with all the people in here. I also know why I'm consultant lead I'm just confused with appointment letter that doesn't actually tell me what it's for! I could just phone them up and ask but in all honesty I'm not that bothered it was just someone else mentioned consultant appointment round about then which made me think that's no doubt what mine is also!

Alicealicewhothe · 20/07/2019 21:32

@Camomila I found out I am a thalassemia carrier through the screening and they rang me as soon as it came in to discuss it and wanted to get DH checked. It was very surprising to find out I am a carrier as I am white British ethnicity and as far as I knew for many generations. Midwife explained it can be carried for many generations.

I would hope they would have rung to explain to you if you were but defo ring up to find out.

FirstTim3Mummy · 20/07/2019 21:45

Dumb question but is anyone else having a fair bit of discharge? I'm 15 weeks

SleepingStandingUp · 20/07/2019 21:52

@FirstTim3Mummy I was looking for something for me but found this for you

That's pants!
Have you noticed a lot of discharge in your knickers? Many women get this. There's more blood flowing around your pelvic area and that can cause your body to produce more of the milky fluid called leucorrhoea that keeps your vagina clean and free from infection. See your doctor or midwife if:

it changes colour – it should be clear, white or creamy.
it starts smelling badly – it should smell slightly musky, not strongly of fish or anything else.
it changes texture – for example, it starts going frothy or looks like cottage cheese.
you get pain when peeing.
you feel itchy or sore.
Any of these signs could mean that you've got a vaginal infection, so get checked out as this could be easily treated.

SleepingStandingUp · 20/07/2019 21:54

Anyone find it uncomfortable between their legs sitting on the floor or hard chairs etc?

FirstTim3Mummy · 20/07/2019 21:58

Thanks @SleepingStandingUp that's good to know!

I found this snippet quite useful for those of us who have been or are off sick from work

Taking sick leave during pregnancy
If you need to take time off work for a pregnancy-related illness, it doesn’t count towards your sickness record.

If your manager usually provides sick pay you will still be entitled to this. If your company doesn’t offer sick pay you can apply for statutory sick pay.

Https:www.tommys.org/pregnancy-week-by-week/15-weeks-pregnant-whats-happening

I'll be sure to let mine know my record shouldn't be affected and they can't haul me in for another formal absence review !!!

Camomila · 21/07/2019 00:22

That's reassuring Alice especially as I have an older DS and no one's ever said anything. Goes to show non-medical people probably shouldn't try and interpret blood test results with the help of dr google.
DM (half Sicillian) reassured me by telling me about various family friends who have thalassemia trait or the disease itself and have perfectly normal lives.

Are your work not being very supportive FirstTime3Mummy ? I've been lucky as mine have been lovely. It's a very young company (as in the staff are young) and the HR lady was quite excited by the novelty of a pg employee.

Chuchu14 · 21/07/2019 07:54

Scan went well yesterday and everything's looking good. The relief is unreal! Measuring slightly ahead of what we thought 13 weeks +3 baby due 23rd Jan 😊

@FirstTim3Mummy I've had quite a bit of discharge but it's very similar to what I had with my first. Going to mention it at my next appointment just but pretty sure it's normal stuff, however if it smells or you are uncomfortable get it checked out. Smile

DaisyMay25 · 21/07/2019 09:12

My scan went well yesterday! I'm having a boy! Despite me not gaining weight he's growing fine, measuring three days ahead and had a strong fast heartbeat!

@FirstTim3Mummy I'm getting a fair bit now and again! I keep thinking I've wet myself...
