I'm 27+3. Can I just go in? Feel like I should call them back in an hour like they said?

@TwittleBee if you’ve had a progression of symptoms I wouldn’t wait. Maybe call back straight away and say how concerned you are. Hope all is ok!

Puglover88 · 21/06/2019 14:37

Just read that it you said was the size of your palm - I would just go straight in!

happytobemrsg · 21/06/2019 14:38

Honestly, I’d just go in x

Fortheloveofscience · 21/06/2019 14:39

How far from the hospital are you Twittle? If further than about 10 mins I’d get in the car and ring them on the way, else ring them immediately and say you want to come in.

TwittleBee · 21/06/2019 14:41

I'm a 10 minute drive, I've phoned my grandparents to come watch DS so DH can come with me

I’m glad you’re going in. You’ll be in the best place so they can monitor you

Megan2018 · 21/06/2019 14:53

Glad you are going in too. Let us know how you get on. I expect everything is going to be fine but you won't feel better at home.

NCT lady said that sometimes you can lose the plug but it grows back? So not necessarily a worry but best to get baby monitored so you don't fret.

Take the evidence with you!

Megan2018 · 21/06/2019 15:13

Some random questions for those of you that know what you are doing!

1/ How many cardigans do I need and in which sizes? Is 1 in Newborn and 1 in 0-3 enough or do I need more? I have got my head around sleepsuits but not extra layers.

2/ Did you bother with a bath thermometer? If so, which one?

3/ Any recommendations for a digital thermometer? We don't own one at all but as we live in the arse end of nowhere I'd like to be able to check if baby has a fever or I am just being neurotic. There seems to be a lot of choice from £10 to over a £100. I just want something reliable and easy to use.

happytobemrsg · 21/06/2019 15:21

We use these. The blue seems to be better in the ear and the white better at the forehead. It’s trial & error. My son suffers with febrile convulsions so we are constantly checking his temperature

@TwittleBee how terrifying for you, I hope you've gone in. Even if it turns out to be much needed reassurance. Good luck!

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 15:22

Twittle hope all is ok!

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 15:24

I bought a no touch thermometer. Apparently you just point it at the child and it tells you their temp. Its bollocks. Dont go there

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 15:26

Cardigans i have one upto one month and one 0-3. Think that should be ok. Might get some as gifts anyway

TheCraicDealer · 21/06/2019 15:28

I was looking at those IVEgottheDECAF! They look v clever but something was telling me they're probably less reliable than the old school in-ear jobbies.

Hoping everything goes ok Twittle, definitely best to head on in.

Puglover88 · 21/06/2019 15:41

@Megan2018 wow thanks for all the info regarding the nappies! It’s good to see exactly what stock people have! Regarding cardies, I’m not sure as it’s my first but I’m planning on seeing what I get from people and then buying what I need closer to the time - I already have a few items trickling in from friends and family and someone at work has crocheted me a few things.

@TwittleBee glad you’ve gone in - hope all is ok!

boodles101 · 21/06/2019 15:57

Hope all is ok twittlebee definitely the best thing to go in and get checked out.

Tefiti2 · 21/06/2019 16:01

Thinking of you @TwittleBee Flowers hope everything is alright!
@Megan2018 I have quite a few newborn and 0-3 cardigans however we live in the North of Scotland so perhaps you might not need as many..! I didn’t bother with a bath thermometer, just used my elbow to check the temp. And definitely recommend an ear thermometer - they’re the best regarded in medical settings at the moment. We have a braun one, I think it cost around £30.

RonaldWeasley · 21/06/2019 16:14

Thank you @Megan2018 for the advice re movement before 28 weeks, that's really reassuring.

@Puglover88 I'm the same re reusable nappies, nappy lady recommended little lamb pockets for me but I think I'm definitely going to try a mix and see what works... still feeling a bit overwhelmed by the options! Bit annoying as most friends/family members just tell me not to bother but I'd really like to give cloth a go, at least after the first few weeks.

Really hope everything is alright @TwittleBee, thinking of you

easterbuns1 · 21/06/2019 16:33

Hope all ok twittlebee.

I think I've got about 6 newborn cardis and 10 0-3. That's before my mum has given me whatever random things she's been making. I'm not expecting to get many gifts so wanted to be organised and ended up with a fair few in a bundle. There was a thermometer in the baby box and I never bothered with bath one last time round.

We are sorted for nappies too I washed them this week. For newborn I have pop ins, tots bots and little lambs. Btp I've a mixture of things too as I found with the older ones that what suits one baby doesn't always suit the next.

Stroan · 21/06/2019 16:40

Oh Twittle, I have everything crossed for you, sending love.

kyles101 · 21/06/2019 16:57

Ah, twittle I hope you're ok. I've definitely heard about losing plugs and then them growing back too. Not what you need though X

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 17:07

Yes i have heard that about plugs too

I think i have a strange body. I have never knowingly lost a plug or seen any evidence of one! My waters have also never broken on their own!

DustyDoorframes · 21/06/2019 17:47

Ouf @TwittleBee thinking of you. You've had so much drama! It's not fair!!! Hopefully you are now bored on a monitor and nothing at all is happening. We are all rooting for you!!!

@Megan2018
1- yes one in each size is fine and you'll be given more, I'd put money on it. Cardies actually last much longer than the size label says.
2- yes, the cheapest dip in one in mothercare. It turned out we'd been over cautious and the bath had been much colder than it should have! No wonder DS hated baths.
3- we've had several fancy thermometers, all dodgy. We now have a £1 one from the pharmacy and it's annoying but at least it was cheap.

@Puglover88 I'd advise you get just one or two each of the ones nappy lady recommends and see how you get on with them on an actual baby. We liked some much more than others, as have our babies.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 21/06/2019 17:58

@TwittleBee hope you’re being monitored now and everything is fine. You’ve definitely been through the wringer! Thinking of you x
