I saw a code for 15% off the Elvie breastpump on an instagrammer's feed which would make it just about affordable for me. Just. Has anyone seen any reviews of them which aren't sponsored? They look the tits but the company seems social media savvy and I'd love to read an independent take on it.

I’d be really interested to know this too, I’m planning to go back to work relatively early while still bfing and the idea of a pump that I can put in my top and then go back to my desk is really appealing! But I’ve only seen sponsored ads on Facebook.

easterbuns1 · 21/06/2019 09:03

There was quite a lot of comments on someone's post about the Evie, it may have been Stacey Solomon's iirc, where people were saying it's a brilliant idea but the product itself isn't quite 100% yet and second gen will probably be better eventually as this one leaks a fair bit.

Omeprazole seems to have improved my heartburn significantly, no no longer being sick hooray! Still exhausted and dizzy though so bp obviously still low. Dp can't understand why I've not got a sudden lease of life from the iron tablets Hmm had to explain they help my red blood count they aren't a bloody miracle. I have to sit down intermittently while making the dinner now honestly I feel pathetic I'm glad I'm finished with all my decorating and furniture building now!

boodles101 · 21/06/2019 09:04

DS seems back to normal this morning so I've packed him off to nursery with some Calpol and DH has managed to come to the hospital with me. Done the first part of GTT, the drink was absolutely fine! Burping a bit now though! Just waiting to be seen for my scan. Excited and nervous to see the babies!

Megan2018 · 21/06/2019 09:34

Just for the benefit of those a bit behind me where I have commented before about not having much regular movement - well I hit 28 weeks yesterday and baby has been bonkers ever since - very active! I think I can see a pattern forming too.

So anyone who is not at 28 wks yet and not having a huge amount of movement - hang in there, my MW seems to have been spot on, she said she wouldn't be worried before 28wks and baby seems to have had the same memo!

boodles101 · 21/06/2019 09:42

Scan done, both babies healthy and no concerns. Definitely a boy and a girl. Boy is measuring 2lbs 8 and girl is 2lbs 2.
Got a pic of girl's face for the first time but boy would only show us his willy or the back of his head!

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 10:06

boodles that is funny!

When we had our 20 week scan and told older dc the sex of baby my 11 year old was disgusted that we and the sonographer had been looking at the babies willy. He was even more Shock when i mentioned the same had been done to him during pregnancy!

boodles101 · 21/06/2019 10:13

decaf how funny.
Midwife has said I need another scan in 2 weeks to check on the girl as she falls under the line on the graph.

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 10:16

I wonder how much my baby weighs when i am measuring over 95th centile lol

Puglover88 · 21/06/2019 10:17

@Megan2018 that’s good to know! I’m currently 26+5 and have very on/off movements. Hopefully baby will too be going bonkers soon!

Moraxella · 21/06/2019 11:02

Re the elvie pump.. same concerns. Thought about cancelling antenatal classes so I can buy the pump. Have seen one “organic” plug for it, and lots of #AD plugs for it. Can see the pros but will wait and see how desperate I get. And then they might release a better one and maybe the first will be cheaper.

If you are referring to the same instagrammer as me, the next story she put up a few days later was her pumping with a normal pump... not sure whether there’s anything to read into but I did.

Megan2018 · 21/06/2019 11:13

I'm not rushing to buy a pump - would rather wait and see how the feeding goes first. It's not recommended to pump until BF established I think? So plenty of time to order something if needed.
At the moment I can't see it being worth the bother!

Puglover88 · 21/06/2019 11:46

Is anyone/has anyone used reusable nappies and would recommend any brands? I want to have a try with them but there’s so many to choose from!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 21/06/2019 11:53

The Elvie does look ace and am tempted if I could get it with money off. I pumped straight away (day 2 or 3 I think). I was in hospital for 4 days after DD was born and had a lot of time to talk breastfeeding with the midwives! I used their brilliant hospital grade pump on their recommendation to check and boost supply. Never affected DD’s ability to feed. When I got home I pumped most days after feeding DD to try and build up a reserve supply in the freezer for times I was out and didn’t feel confident enough to bf in public or for a middle of the night feed from DH to give me a break. Months down the line though I had given up on pumping as I felt like I was either bf-ing or pumping round the clock. Frankly this time round I won’t care about bf-ing in public and I refuse to spend my whole day with my boob attached to a baby and/or a pump 😆. I appreciate it’s totally different if you have to return to work though and need to pump regularly. Just praying that this one has a decent latch from the off and my nipples are hardier than first time round!

TheCraicDealer · 21/06/2019 13:10

If my supply is decent (I've been leaking for weeks- not sure if that's any indication, probs not) I would prefer to express. Will try her on the boob but I'm going back to work at 6mos so I'd like her to be comfortable with bottles from the outset. You can use the pumps for colostrum extraction pre-birth to try and get things moving along.

Thanks for all the thoughts on the Elvie- I can get a lend of a medela pump from a friend but the fact you could pop the Elvie in your bra and do a nappy change or put a wash on or whatever is so tempting! If it's actually bang average I feel much better saving my shekels.

TwittleBee · 21/06/2019 13:19

Woah so much to catch up on!

@Puglover88 quite a few of us are hoping to use them on here and a few have previously. If you go onto The Nappy Lady website, there is a questionnaire you can fill out and you'll get a response on what they would recommend for your needs.

I'll be using Little Lambs and Baba + Boo nappies.

Won a solid oak John Lewis set of nursery furniture (cot bed, wardrobe and dresser) for £85 today! Grin that has to be my best bargain yet.

Puglover88 · 21/06/2019 14:09

@TwittleBee thanks, I’ve just done the questionnaire! Good going @Megan2018 !

Megan2018 · 21/06/2019 14:10

@Puglover88 I also recommend The Nappy Lady questionnaire and have gone with her recommendations mainly, plus a few others to try. She will ask about you and your partners height to try and guess the size/shape of your baby plus consider where you live and what washing/drying options you have at home as these all make a difference. Best bet is to buy a few different sorts and see what works. I have both Newborn and Birth to Potty Sizes. I have:

Newborn
4 x Lil Joey AIO (these are used but mint condition, bargain from Facebook)
1 x Bumgenius Elemental AIO (unused ebay bargain)
4 x Totsbots TeenyFit Stars (new)
1 x pack of Close Pop in Newborn (new)

Birth to Potty
10 x Bumgenuis Elemental Joy plus inserts (new)
5 x Totsbots Bamboozle Stretch Size 2 with 2 x Blueberry Capri Wraps and 5 x Motherease boosters (2 part system for night time) (new)
5 x Little Lambs Pockets (new)

Plus I got the nappy buckets, liners, mesh bags, wet bag, wipes etc - but I got it all in Real Nappy Week so got a massive discount :)

Only thing now is learning how to actually change a nappy.....

TwittleBee · 21/06/2019 14:12

Megan2018 · 21/06/2019 14:20

@TwittleBee Oh no! What a worry - you are having the roughest time of things aren't you! Go in if you are worried. Hope it stops soon and is nothing.

TwittleBee · 21/06/2019 14:27

I've 100% just lost my plug now, size of my palm and completely bloody and now cramping too... they said to phone back in an hour?

OP posts:
happytobemrsg · 21/06/2019 14:27

I think they only worry if it fills a pad. Do you have a maternity pad you can wear? Do you have cramps? Are you feeling movement?

happytobemrsg · 21/06/2019 14:29

Sorry cross post. I think you should go in now OP. otherwise your nerves will be shot

happytobemrsg · 21/06/2019 14:29

How many weeks are you?

TheCraicDealer · 21/06/2019 14:29

Just go in Twittle, don't be waiting about.
