I'm hoping to use reusables after about 6 weeks so have some new and Preloved Tots Bots Easyfit Stars, plus I got a brand new accessory kit on ebay. I also picked up a couple of Bumgenius elementals in a local secondhand baby shop - it really helped to be able to see the nappies to understand all the terminology! I did the Nappy Lady questionnaire too.

Re thermometers. The Tommee tippee ear one has been fine for 3 years. We also have a forehead one, but I normally test the ear.

We also used a bath thermometer as DH was uncomfortable checking it! Also useful as DD hated any bath less than 37 degrees...

One or two cardigans is plenty I'd say. We barely used them on a winter baby as our house is warm and when out, she was either in a jacket, star wrap or pram suit anyway.

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 18:00

Well i have just given in and ordered more maternity clothes. Didnt feel great walking to school earlier with my supposed maternity tshirt threatening to expose the bump! Only spent £40 on few cheapo dresses i can hopefully pair with leggings so not the end of the world

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 21/06/2019 18:04

@Megan2018 we have the braun digital thermometer and the Philips avent room and bath thermometer (little blue rubber flower thingy). Both still going strong after 2 years and I’m neurotic and check DD’s temperature a lot (she has ear infections a lot and her temp often goes up to 40 deg with them).

Cardies wise I think I have 4 or so in newborn / 0-3. Bought two and had two knitted for us - seem to be much of a similar size so fitted DD as a newbie and up to 3m no problem. She was a spring baby though and that year we had a v warm April/May, so I mainly used layered blankets instead of cardies over her sleepsuit

Stroan · 21/06/2019 18:07

Spent today at the beach, park then soft play with DD and my niece and nephew. I'm now stuck on the sofa and can barely walk, ridiculous! DH is out so I'm counting down the minutes to bedtime.

My nephew is 2 and a runner - I couldn't catch him. Which he found hilarious so just kept running. I guess I should maybe start to take the PGP advice more seriously.

On that subject, has anyone heard of this? I've googled and haven't found anything. The physio at my group PGP session said that after 30 weeks pregnant women can use disabled parking spaces. I've never heard of that and would absolutely HATE to use a space, but I do need loads of space to get out of the car. I parked at the hospital yesterday and couldn't actually get out of the car.

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 18:10

Not heard that stroan but i would think you would be ok using parent and child spaces (even if no dc with you)

TwittleBee · 21/06/2019 18:15

Yes I've heard this! Stroan And it does make sense to me.

Update, I need to wait in to see the doctor. MW is concerned.

@Stroan to use a disabled parking place you need a blue badge. So if you can make the case and get one in time then fair play, but no badge no space (that's how they know to fine you!)

DustyDoorframes · 21/06/2019 18:16

TwittleBee · 21/06/2019 18:19

DustyDoorframes and Stroan ACTUALLY totally misread and thought you said Parent and Child space... I was skin reading through the cramping / contraction 🤦‍♀️

It was a bit of a throwaway comment in the middle of all the spiel and I forgot to question her.

I'd use a P&C space if I really had to, but always try to just park at the end of a row to give myself space. I think I'd struggle to use a disabled space even if I was allowed, if that makes sense?! Feels so wrong when I could (normally!) park further away to get more space.

That said, I had several incidents last pregnancy where I got back to my car and couldn't get into it because someone had come along and parked too close.

Stroan · 21/06/2019 18:31

@twittlebee glad they are taking things seriously and properly checking things out. Take care.

Florencenotflo · 21/06/2019 18:52

@TwittleBee hope everything is ok. My best friend lost her plug at 27 weeks, then again at 30, then bits of it pretty much weekly until 41 weeks! It's good they are taking it seriously though and you're getting seen.

I wouldn't use a disabled space, I'm pretty sure you can be fined for using one without a badge. My nan got a fine once when she forgot to display it (which did get cancelled when she appealed). I would definitely use a p&c space though if you need the extra space. I tend to try and park on end spaces but with PGP it's probably quite important that you are closer as well as having more space to open the door.

When I was about 40 weeks pregnant with dd I went full on Red Ross with some dick head that squeezed his car next to mine in a car park 😂 I did have a picture but I can't find it now. He wasn't even in a space but I'm not joking there was less than 6 inches between his car and mine. I couldn't have got in even if I wasn't pregnant. So unlike me to say anything, I think I scared him.

Stroan · 21/06/2019 19:00

I was just surprised that she stated it as though it was a formal arrangement.

I wouldn't use a disabled space, should have been more clear! PGP isn't so bad that I need to be close to where I'm going anyway, I just genuinely can't fit in or out of the car in small-ish spaces! I think I can, then get the bump stuck 😂

I wonder how many people have been fined because that physio is giving out wrong info?

Karigan195 · 21/06/2019 19:08

Missed a lot again I see! I chose close pop ins in the end as they had the most positive reviews but also pretty taken with the bumgenius nappies.

I’ve started parking in parent and child spaces after twice not being able to get back in my car when people park too close!

Hope you’re doing ok Twittlebee

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 21/06/2019 19:10

At the (smallish) hotel we’re staying at in Greece there are at least ten pregnant women I’ve spotted - it’s like the land of pregnant lady 😂 I’m definitely the biggest though - feeling absolutely massive at the moment and only 27+4 😬

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 21/06/2019 20:52

@TwittleBee thinking of you, hope all is alright!
I have a blue badge and would definitely say that info is wrong - have been fined even when showing it once (obviously did appeal!) so wouldn't risk it, but definitely use P&C spaces if you need to! I always try and use whichever there is the most of (I have a dd as well so either space is legitimate!) since I need the extra space to get in and out due to my disability.
On reusable nappies I would definitely say don't over invest in one type until baby is here - I was sure I would use two parters but have ended up almost solely relying on cheapy pocket nappies for dd since they fit her well!

TwittleBee · 21/06/2019 20:59

I'm doing okay, still in Triage waiting to see the doctor. Freaked myself out with googling what it could be and have convinced myself I have placental abruption... why did I do that!

OP posts:
DustyDoorframes · 21/06/2019 21:11

Oh twittle so stressful!! If they thought you had the signs of placental abduction the consultant would have seen you super quick, so the fact that you are still waiting is a good sign. What a way to spend the evening!!!

DustyDoorframes · 21/06/2019 21:12

Abruption even. Placental abduction would be truly weird...

TwittleBee · 21/06/2019 21:24

Ah that is a good way of looking at it! Just feel really left on my own (probably because I am here on my own). No one has asked how I am since I came in and even then they didn't actually ask my symptoms beyond wanting to see my pad.

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 21:30

Twittle is there no one who can be with you?

Stroan · 21/06/2019 21:31

I'm sorry you are on your own Twittle, but definitely agree that they would be far quicker to get you seen if that's what they were worried about.

How long have you been there now?

TwittleBee · 21/06/2019 21:38

I've been here for nearly 6 hours now I think.

Just been seen by a DR and she said she now needs to speak to her Registrar?

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 21/06/2019 21:43

Did she say nothing else? Are you still having pains?
