I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Hello all, glad everyone's doing well today, even with the odd scare here and there!

Have had a very lazy day today and done nothing at all!

DH went and picked up a foot spa from a fellow freecycler, whcih cheered me up a bit, then put it on the floor in me sewing room, whcih brought me straight back down as the room is full of all sorts of junk as it is! He then asked me to take up a couple of pairs of trousers for him, to which I replied "Oh! Can I get into that room then?!!" He said it'd be fine, of course I can, Oh I could alright, but had to push things around on the floor to find 2 inches of space to get to the bloody table (obviously couldn't get to the chair to sit and sew so ended up doing one pair by hand and am not doing the other pair until I've cleared the room out tomorrow!!)

Ooh that was a bit of a rant eh?! LOL I'll give up now, I could rant for Britain on just about any topic right now, blooming hormones

Hope you all a good night and get plenty of sleep

Nettee · 19/08/2007 23:35

Just finished my last shift so now officially on maternity leave. I am feeling all nervous that there is nothing between me and having this baby now. I have been looking forward to this day for so long but now feel a bit lost. Will be good to spend some time with DS though before LO arrives. Lo is still breech though and I am 36 weeks tomorrow - will have to see what my midwife says on Wednesday.

Great to hear the good news on the thread - sorry not to reply individually there are just so many of us now. Can't wait to hear the first birth announcement I am sure it will be soon

dal21 · 20/08/2007 07:54

Hi everyone!

CCPink - you are one brave lady! Houseguests for a week? I couldnt even have someone here for a few days...am enjoying having my space.

Floss - glad you are ok too! As you say - cannot believe it is the final full week of aug this week! Guess we are going to start getting more eventful postings as our LO's start gearing up ready to make an appearance! Wonder who the first will be?

MrsF - thanks, I am relieved too. Fingers crossed everything goes ok today. If so, know that LO can stay put til I am at least 36 weeks....have started to adjust to idea of induction/ c section so that I am prepared for all eventualities. Have been so focussed on natural birth that havent really looked at what is involved with other methods.

PLP - hope you are also feeling better, are you?

Kyala - hoorah on the footspa! On my research yesterday, read that no nail varnish/ fake tan can be applied before a csection. Was planning on a little fake tan action on legs/ pedicure before the birth, but not sure if I should now. What does everyone else think? Dont want to ask my obs right now - he might think with everything else going on, I am slightly nuts to be thinking about the pros and cons of st tropez/ jessica nail products. What can I say - a gals mind needs to remain occupied.

Nettee - hoorah on starting mat leave!

Hope everyone else had good weekends, sorry if i have missed anyone elses post.

Will check in again after appt today.

FlossALump · 20/08/2007 08:07

dal - the nail varnish is so they can monitor your oxygen levels while you are having the op done. The levels are monitored via a finger probe, nail varnish can stop the readings being accurate. Also your extremities are one of the first places where you turn blue if you aren't getting enough oxygen!! haven't heard that about fake tan, but guess that would be becuase it would keep you looking well even if you were not!! All just precautionary stuff. Shame no-one seems to have told Jordan that before hers eh??!

Dp's first day on a new job today - quite ironic if baby decided to do something today eh??!!

dal21 · 20/08/2007 08:11

Thanks floss - In that case, lots of tlc for tootsies over next few weeks, will investigate the fake tan more...LOL about Jordan.

LO's will inevitably time things so that things are difficult. My DH is praying that bub stays put til at least 13th sept as he is flat out at work til then and due to be closing some deals on the 12th. If it decides to pitch up before then, DH will not be around bless him. Thought of it is stressing him out more than me!

EdieMcredie · 20/08/2007 08:24

MMooMar

I have a pain at the top of my bump too. What is it? It's so sore!

EmLouT · 20/08/2007 09:22

Hi all,

just trying to catch up with the threads and thought I would pop in to say hello.

Am having one of those days already unfortunately! I am fed up of being stuck in with the builders and nothing ever goes smoothly like it should do - now we have a leak in the kitchen ceiling.

Am also suffering from high blood pressure so am of course worrying about the LO - I just can't wait to have him out and in my arms where I can see that he is safe!

I wish DH didn't have to go to work each day - it's easy enough to say get some rest but much more difficult to actually do when you have builders and dust all over the house. I just hope this kitchen will be worth it.

I hope all of you who are having health problems and aches and pains are doing ok - not long now guys!

kelmcd · 20/08/2007 10:30

Is this weather making anyone else feel a tad depressed got up this morning and really have no energy or lust for anything. could just be that i've two weeks to go and am just knackered

LoopyLouLisa · 20/08/2007 10:32

Morning all,

dal, maybe the fake tan would react to the iodine they apply around where they need to cut or they worry about it seeping into the wound possibly increasing risk of infection?? or am i just talking out of my bottom lol

i was thinking now that i only have 11 days (11 days!!!!) left to go, and i still cannot access the spreadsheet, would someone mind emailing me a mobile number so that i can text news of baby? i doubt i'll be able to get to a computer for a while after but if i can text then someone else could post the message for me. dp doesn't even know how to send an email so pointless asking him to post

xx

fedupwasherwoman · 20/08/2007 10:39

Just popped in to say you are a very lucky bunch of summer pregnancy ladies.

I was due in Sept last year and the heat made life very hard in July/Sept particularly with a toddler to look after too. I used to share a cool bath with ds1 in the evening (well my feet and lower legs did anyway) and we had fans whirring all over the house.

You are lucky beyond belief with the crap summer we've had !

Hope all goes well.

kinki · 20/08/2007 10:42

Hi, everyone, hope you're all well this morning.

Mmoo and edie, I get a pain at the top of my bump too. I have a feeling its the bump pushing up at the bottom of my sternum. I seem to get it when lo shifts position and when he's high. I'm hoping it'll settle a bit when he drops a little.

Dal, not sure about the fake tan, but loopy's guess seems quite a good one. The surgeon (or you) wouldn't be too happy about washing off a tan when trying to sterilise you! Glad the trace seemed ok, and I hope it goes well today. Know what you mean about being at the hospital so much. This week I've managed to get most of my appts onto one day - Wed - it'll be busy, but at least its only one visit. I've got a growth scan, chest clinic, ANC and diabetic clinic. Anyway good luck today!

Nette, happy for you finishing work (and everyone else who has). I still don't know if I'm getting any maternity leave - should find out this week or next. I only work one day a week so its not too bad.

Kyala, quick question about freecycle if I may. Do you think there would be any takers for an old graco travel system pushchair. I think its too old and knackered, but dh reckons someone out there might be interested. Have you seen anything like this go before. I should just sign up and post it and see what happens.

Loopy, wouldn't know where to start with the IT problem I'm afraid. It was an excel program, have you got that on your pc? If not, that might be the problem. In which case we could sent it to you in a word format. Hopefully one of us can make sense of it all!

Floss, sorry to hear of your worries yesterday. Hope it all settles for you. Sounds like the hospital were quite reassuring. I've been getting thrush too, its a pain in the arse isn't it? (well, fanjo, but ykwim!)

cc, can you really tell the difference in kiddies born at the beginning and end of the school year? On a different thread someone had said they'd read a report that about 70% of oxbridge candidates were born sept - dec. I never saw a reference, so didn't read too much into it. What age do you teach? As a mum to a feisty 7yo my respect of teachers has gone up about 100000% in the last few years! Good luck with the in-laws. Dh anounced to me that he's asked his parents over for a week (they live 30 mins away). I was struck dumb, shivers went up and down my spine and I broke out into a cold sweat. When I could finally ask 'when' (I was in absolute morbid fear he was going to say when we bring the baby home), he told me it was for the week I'll be in hospital (hoping for less, but I've been warned it could be a week). Thank f*ck for that. They are the sort of guests that sit there waiting to be waited on hand and foot. Hope your ILs are more helpful than mine.

PLP, sorry to hear of your worries last week too. Hope things settle for you too. What a result dh wanting purple wallpaper.

Big hello to everyone else too: sparks, sophus, hayley, hopey, canmum, Mrs' M&F, emlou, kelm, to name a few. Still can't believe how many of us there are.

kinki · 20/08/2007 10:48

Fedup, who do you think has been doing all the raindances?! It was us. We have collectively willed it to be cool and wet. With the odd day or two of nice weather when we feel like it. Joking aside, it can't have been much fun last year. We were all worried it would be a scorcher this year too, but thankfully that didn't manifest.

Loopy, had an idea, give me a few minutes, and I will try to transfer the data from the attachment onto an email for you. Can't promise it'll work, but worth a go.

kinki · 20/08/2007 10:55

Loopy, think I've done it. Let me know if you get it and if the data is there.

emj23 · 20/08/2007 11:14

Hi all, hope you're all well and not too uncomfortable.

Do you think it's worth buying any more maternity clothes when I have six weeks left to go? I have a party to go to in a couple of weeks and have nothing tidy to wear, I've been living in casual trousers from DP and long tops (which no longer completely cover the bump - eeeek!) but I'm considering doing a bit of research and trying to find a dress to wear. Seeing as how I'll be even more enormous by then and probably sitting in a corner feeling miserable I shouldn't bother trying to look nice, I don't know...

I'm suddenly feeling quite motivated to get my hospital bag packed too. But in an odd way I keep thinking that if I get it done this early I'll be tempting fate to make me overdue by two weeks or something.

ccpink · 20/08/2007 11:19

hi all,
dh has taken them into town for a little pad around and then we're off to the races this aft. I couldn't face two things in one day!!! Maybe this is just the best excuse ever Well they seem ok. dh hasn't seen dad for 13 years - lives in oz - and neither of us have met the latest wife either but so far it's ok. It's just hard not being ble to relax properly. Let's see if I'm still so positive on fri - plus I'm now worried they're going to come back at the end of the hol as they're off to spain for a week I need to wreck upstairs as decorator coming in two weeks!!! Trying not to worry - yet...

kinki - i teach 11-18yrs and in most cases you can definately tell. The younger tend to be more immature compared to older in the class. Thus why the older usually do better. I've read the report about oxbridge but they also say it about jobs in general. Obviously going to be exceptions but we definately wanted a september baby. dh keeps saying if I go into labour on last day of august he's going to ask for drug to put it off for a day!!!Not that I'm due until the end anyway!

i have had that pain at the top too - very odd and sore! seemed to wake up every hour on the hour last night so hoping will do better tonight. Fingers crossed that I wins hundreds at the races and can buy all the expensive rubbish I want. Have seen adorable light shade and tie backs but madly expensive - I know I don't need them but I still want them

speak when I escape again!
cc

MrsMar · 20/08/2007 11:20

Morning everyone...

You're all going to hate me but I don't have any stretch marks yet... I'm still not 100% sure of the baby's position, so it might be cos he hasn't turned down yet, I'll probably get them big time when he does as it's quite late to be turning! I haven't really used any cream until a couple of weeks ago when we came back from holiday, and that was more to preserve my tan!

Kinki - I'm glad your fish tank is now sparkling and clean... how about some terrapins or similar in the other tank? I don't think they need water so no green slime, and they only have four legs. Definitely agree on the leg limitation rule...

dal - sorry to hear about your concerns with lo, I hope he/she puts in a growth spurt soon and things start to look up, great news about the first trace though, gotta be a good sign!

sophus - glad your baby's back on the move again, they are pesky aren't they? It's a bit like when I try and get dh to feel the movements of my LO... suddenly he goes from the most active baby in the world to a total statue!!

sparks - how lucky are you? I hope you enjoyed the shower!

plp - I hope you're managing to rest a bit and take it easy... glad to hear you don't have pre-eclampsia but try and relax and put your feet up occasionally. Very important for you and LO I don't have too much swelling at all, any I get is usually associated with warmer weather, so it's fine at the moment

Good luck with the results for your mum MMooMar!

Sorry you're feeling so tired MrsFish. I'm shattered too, I think for me it's because I've given up work now and my body is saying "you've got nothing to do now, go on, have a nap!!" I'm glad your friends wedding went well. Well done for staying up so late, I'm sure that's why you're so tired. I hope you managed to get a good rest!

floss - glad to hear bleeding wasn't anything serious, how scary for you!

Enjoy your mat leave Nettee... I'm pretty sure my LO is still breech too, and 36 weeks on wednesday, and I'm seeing the mw on wednesday too!! We'll have to keep fingers crossed.. after speaking to a few friends with experience of ecv and a friend who's a community mw, I'm not entirely convinced I want to go down that route... will have to hope he turns or I'll be having a cs. I think he's trying to turn cos it feels like he's scrabbling around inside me, there's some frantic activity in there, but I'm still getting all the kicks down low and I can still feel his bottom out to the side so I think he's well and truly wedged!

This weekend we managed to buy most things for labour and the last remaining bits for the baby. We still haven't got a monitor yet, they had rubbish ones at Mothercare so didn't bother. So much for me thinking this pregnancy hasn't affected my cat, yesterday she peed in the car seat so I had to take the cover off and wash it. Now I've got to face the Krypton Factor challenge of getting it back on! I'm still feeling really tired today, maybe it's the weather, but I haven't got the energy to get off the sofa, been like that all weekend! Oh well, time to indulge myself isn't it??

Have a lovely day everyone xxx

MrsMar · 20/08/2007 11:25

crikey I took so long typing that I missed about 10 posts!!

fedup!!! We are indeed grateful for this weather, even in the pathetic couple of summery days we've had my feet have puffed up horrendously!

I heard the thing about september children too... as a late summer baby that makes total sense to me, I started school at the start of Sept 75 which was 5 weeks after my birthday and in the same class as me were children who were nearly 6. It makes such a difference at that age I think and I'm sure I never caught up again. I did my O levels at 15 (when some of my friends were nearly 17) and my A levels at 17. I hope it comes true, I'd love my little boy to be the class genius!

kyala · 20/08/2007 11:40

Morning ladies,
Feeling a bit apprehensive at the moment, MW's due any minute (although she's usually about an hour late )

She's a bit heavy-handed at the best of times but today she's actually going to feel which way round LO is, and I've got chronic indegestion to make things worse

Still, I can always pop into town later and do a little retail therapy with DD and feed the ducks to make me feel better

Haven't had a go on that foot spa yet, will make some time for myself later (after clearing out that blooming sewing room)

Phones the hospital for a tour (I know it's a bit late but I kept forgetting LOL) and they've only really got appointments free on a Tuesday (which is a bit rubbish as DH works Monday to Friday, why can't they do one on a Sunday as well as the Saturday? Most people work during the week round here!)
So, am now going to have to phone DH at work (I hate doing that, lately I'm phoning for stupid little things and his colleagues must think I'm spying on him LOL) and ask him if he can get an afternoon off, should be interesting, they owe him loads of lieu time but I bet they'll sneer at him when he ask's!

Kinki: Yes definately offer it, but make sure you give them a really good idea on the state of it. If it needs a bit of work doing to it you don't want to be giving it to a single pregnant mum without a bit of warning, she might be like me (totally useless with a screwdriver, let alone anything else LOL)
I've found Freecycler's offer anything and everything, most broken bits and pieces can be used for projects etc, and it being summer hols it's good for the kids to have projects with their parents etc, so someone might even just want it for the wheels!!

Anywho, sorry for not chatting to individuals, far too nervous about hammer-hands coming to check on me LOL Hope you have a good day, DD's now complaining that a certain program has come on, she's very picky about what she watches LOL If it doesn't look like it's meant to be on CBeebies then she has a fit LOL
So, off to turn TV off and guzzle Gaviscon (and close all the curtains and hide from MW )

Laters

kinki · 20/08/2007 11:54

kyala, meant to say earlier, why don't you use that sticky iron-on stuff to take up his trousers. Think its called wondaweb. It's really quick and easy to use, save on sewing and time.

LoopyLouLisa · 20/08/2007 12:11

Kinki you are an angel! Many thanks for doing that. I do have excel (i think) as i have xp but for some reason it just wouldn't open and I'm scared of the control panel incase i wipe something vital. didn't realise people had already given mobile nos but will send mine too.

gonna brave going out shortly. cash is getting v tight so having trouble putting credit on mobiles, but figure if i buy a cheap cordless phone (current landline is fixed and only on handset in house) then i can carry that around inside in case of emergency.

hope everyone is well
xx

emj23 · 20/08/2007 12:18

Forgot to ask on earlier post - dal21, is it too late to be added to your email list? Somehow managed to miss that part of the thread but saw it mentioned again the other day.

LoopyLouLisa · 20/08/2007 12:19

Mrsmar, I can really recommend the bt digital monitor if your budget can stretch that far. its about £70 (think boots has a 20% off all baby but not sure if they sell it). I tried 8 different ones before this one including all the top-sellers. I found most of them had interference or didn't pick up baby's noise from a short distance meaning the baby handset thingy had to go in the cot for me to be able to hear the baby. from the parent handset you can can play lullabies/turn night light on etc and see temp of baby's room without having to do into their room.

xx

MrsFish · 20/08/2007 12:19

Hi MrsMar - I don't have any stretchmarks either, I think it is the least my body can do for me I have a stubborn stitch in the left side of my bump atm, it won't go away and I haven't done anything yet to cause it. I'm off out in a bit so will see if I can walk it off. Going to brave toys r us for some playsand for ds, the sun is out here atm but have a nice breeze too As regards schooling this one will be the eldest in the year, ds1 will be the youngest.

Kyala - Good luck with the mw, my next appointment is the 30th. I have finally got my hospital tour wednesday evening after rearranging it a few times, its a new building so am hoping for very nice facilities

Had a right laugh half an hour ago, ds got hold of my bronzer brush and preceded in making himself look like an oompa loompa lol, have taken pictures will put them in profile in a bit

FilBrit · 20/08/2007 12:42

Hi there

How you all doin?

Is anyone else having problems sleeping at the moment? I seem to wake up every couple of hours each night, I feel so tired!

I've been lucky so far as well in regard to stretch marks and don't have any.... YET... ! but my tummy is getting so big each time I look in a mirror I expect to see some there, can only be a matter of time...

Hope you're all ok
Love Filbrit x

MMooMar · 20/08/2007 12:44

Hi All,

Hope you ladies are all feeling well today...(WELL KNACKERED ,YES!)

Dal ,glad all went well yesterday.

CC also having such crappy nights at the minute ,not worth going to bed some nights.Trouble is as soon as you wake up the loo beckons again....am I right? 4 bloody times last night, dont mind so much when I get there and it was worth getting up for ,its when its just a dribble!

Edie,Kinki,cc, I dont know what causes that sorness at the top of the bump,I had it last time and they said it was DS kicking my ribs but to be honest i dont think it was cos if you are like me its actually the skin thats so sore and it ends up really painful in the end.It never went even after DS dropped down and this LO has dropped and I still have it.If I remember right I had it for quite a few weeks after DS was born ,all the skin still felt sore, dont think I can be arsed to ask again this time even though its a different MW.

Fedupwasherwoman, thanks for the well wishes, yes defo lucky with the weather any other time we would have been cussing blind about it.

Guys ,I have got so much to do and so little time or energy to do it not to mention motivation.
I need to get painting finished, more stuff to come out the loft.Got to go and get some clothes for DS ,he seems to have shot up the last couple of weeks and jeans and stuff are looking on the short side.I need to go and buy some wood venetian blinds as well to replace the roman ones in my lounge,I am not over looked by a house or anything but have a large bay window and a path that cuts right across the garden in front of the window.Last time when I was BF DS it was a real chore to keep lowering the blinds so postie wouldnt see then back up again when finished so have decide to replace them with venetian ones cos I am a lazy mare, just got to twist the wand .....nice and easy!

Just got to get DP to put them up when I do get them.....not so easy

No stretchmarks either for me....yet,didnt get any last time either. Will probably find huge ones in the morning now for bragging...lol!

Anyway speak to you later,

Love to all.
