Realised we need another thread as the other one reached 1000!

Glad to hear scans went well today.

Who else is waiting for their harmony results now? I am hoping to get them in the next few days! But I suspect Friday at the earliest and probably next week Monday! I had the bloods taken for it Thursday morning.

Yes I think I'm going to have a private gender scan at 16weeks

starflake · 18/06/2019 20:54

Yes having a private gender scan on 13th July.... I'll be nearly 17 weeks then

Funnybunnyfluff · 18/06/2019 21:30

Oh I don't want to find out the gender lol!
just to reassure me 😁.

Mamabear12 · 19/06/2019 10:48

I will wait until 20 week scan, but it aint easy. I have just been thinking, I don't really feel very pregnant with my bump. Its barely anything. Just looks like I put on some weight. Its much easier when you can feel baby more often moving around. I am wondering about her and can't wait to feel movements daily. Sometimes I feel the odd flutter when I'm in the bath or lying down. 12 to 20 weeks seems like FOREVER!!!

starflake · 19/06/2019 11:32

Yes i felt my first movements over a week ago, quite a few in a few days period & nothing really since, which has me a bit worried! Thought I felt something last night but was so quick I couldn't quite put it down to baby or gas. Looking forward to regular movement also, although then I will stress over that also so hey ho

Jowd92 · 19/06/2019 11:34

@mamabear I totally understand that I have lost 4lb since being pregnant I think it must be the sickness, I cant wait to know if I'm having a boy or girl I really think another little boy from looking at my scan and I cant wait to start feeling the kicks I love the feeling

Mamabear12 · 19/06/2019 11:53

What is everyones weight gain like? Perhaps there are more like Jowd92 who have lost weight? I finally bought a scale and see I put on two kilos already. I looked online and it says women gain 1-4lbs typically the first trimester. I usually never weight myself as we haven't had a scale in YEARS. But I was curious now that I am pregnant and like to monitor my weight. I assume I will gain the usual 23 kilos....but hoping its more like 16 kilos instead!!

I lost weight through my last pregnancy 12lb in total I think it's the sickness as to why I lose weight at the start I can afford to lose weight I could do with losing alot lol although I lost weight with my last pregnancy my son was still a healthy 7lb 2oz born

Mamabear12 · 19/06/2019 12:24

Ah, yes, baby always gets first dibs on nutrients 😀 I always gain loads, but I’m naturally slim with nothing to lose before getting pregnant. Once pregnant my metabolism slows a bit and I hold onto a lot of fat (I suspect to prepare for breastfeeding as my boobs become HUGE and have loads of milk). My babies tend to be small though at 6lbs. I’m hoping the third will be 7lbs.

Jowd92 · 19/06/2019 14:20

Yes I have big boobs anyway generally an f so during pregnancy they become even bigger and so tender I have never tried breastfeeding any of mine and I keep thinking I might try this time just not sure, all 3 of mine have been in the 7lbs but always ended up with stitches after them not nice!

loie · 19/06/2019 14:45

Scan today!!! Due date is 28th, 20 week on 12th Aug! Seems such a long wait.

Mamabear12 · 19/06/2019 15:00

Jowd92 Mine go from a C to a big E when milk comes in 😳 they look like watermelons lol. I had to get stitches both times. I wonder if they should just cut me as I’ll probably tear anyway. Perhaps just try breastfeeding and see how you like it. If it goes well; you might find it easier then having to deal with the bottles. I’ve breastfed and bottle fed and find it easier when they just breastfeed as you have it ready any time anywhere. But if you do it exclusively it can be tough as you never get a break (with bottle partner can help etc). I would say it’s difficult the first couple months when feeds take forever and they feed often; but as they grow and become more efficient it becomes much easier.

loie I think I see the nub! Interested in guessing gender? If yes, google the nub theory Smile

Jowd92 · 19/06/2019 15:04

Yeah I just think of every possibility would my older children understand with seing it and with having a young child he will be 16 months when baby is due so I just think will breastfeeding be possible I have to think about it all,

You know this nub theory what exactly is it? Does my scan pic have one I think it looks like a boy as it seems similar to my sons scan but someone at the hospital said it they think it looks like a girl ?

Mamabear12 · 19/06/2019 19:10

Jowd92 what do you mean with older children seeing it? Just explain to them, that is how you feed a newborn, either through breast or bottle. And you can drape a muslin cloth over to cover yourself if needed. My first was 20 months when the second was born, (I stopped breastfeeding her at 13 months, but she still drank from bottle at 20 months)...so when I breast fed, she sat by my side having her bottle. Or she would have a snuggle by me or play while I fed. My older two will be 5 and 7 when the baby is born and they are fully aware about me breastfeeding and they have seen me plenty of times naked, so I don't worry if they see me, but for example if someone else like in laws are there, I will use a muslin cloth draped over. There are ways to make it work if you want to :) But also, perfectly fine if you prefer to stick to bottle. My mom only bottle fed me and my sister and we have great health etc.

The nub is basically something all babies have at 12 weeks. It looks like a penis, but for girls it sticks straight out parallel to their back and for boys it sticks more up. If you google it, they will be more clear about the descriptions and have images. I figured out correctly what I was having with all three (my third is confirmed via harmony already). But it has to be around 12 weeks and photo w a nub, not all scans show the nub, but when you get the scan, you can ask them to show you it.

Jowd92 · 19/06/2019 20:01

Yes I had the conversation with my older children about it and at first they was a little like what but I think they understand more now just going to see how I feel abit more nearer the time,
Yeah I get what you mean now I read about it I don't think my new scan you can see the nub can you?

Mamabear12 · 19/06/2019 20:23

No, but the scan has a great legs photo :) The legs I think are blocking the nub!

OP posts:
loie · 19/06/2019 20:25

@Mamabear12 ooooh, guess the gender from my scan!! My DM and DP guessed immediately and felt certain, I have 0 idea what I think!!

Mamabear12 · 19/06/2019 20:55

From what I see and think is the nub, it looks like a girl. What did your family think?

OP posts:
loie · 19/06/2019 21:04

@Mamabear12 both said boy from the scan (although they know nothing about nub theory), but my DM has been CONVINCED from the start that it's a girl!!! Only time will tell, can't believe it's an 8 week wait Sad

Mamabear12 · 19/06/2019 21:34

People who don't know the nub theory, think the nub is a penis, but BIL and DM got it wrong for the same reason.

OP posts:
Nervousdave · 20/06/2019 08:27

I've lost a tiny amount of weight, but I think I've lost muscle and gained fat due to feeling poorly and not exercising at all for 8 weeks 😔
My 20 week scan is still 5 weeks away, and I seriously cant wait! I really want to find out the gender, I do not have the patience of waiting and seeing 🤣

Jowd92 · 20/06/2019 09:35

Morning hope everyone is well I know this is a bit random but can anyone help I have been looking at double pushchairs and I cant seem to find any that I like and anyone know which is better the side by side ones or the ones with one in front of the other i need one to accommodate for both my son and new baby its stressing me out any help is appreciated

December2019 · 20/06/2019 09:55

@Jowd92 I'm also looking... there all really bulky aren't they?
I have a really narrow front porch too so there is no way I would get a side by side double buggy out the door... there are some lovely tandem ones x

Jowd92 · 20/06/2019 10:06

@december2019 yes they all look bulky I also dont think I would get a side by side through my front door either but then people keep telling me the older child obviously has to go at the front of the pushchair and it makes it so heavy so I'm just stuck ! What will the age gap between yours be?

December2019 · 20/06/2019 10:11

@Jowd92 there will be a 12 month gap between my two so there is no way I'm gonna get round not buying one... unless I don't leave the house for a year! 😂
I'm gutted too my mum got me a gorgeous pram for my LO and I'll be so sad to see it go
The iCandy blossom is really compact, I was looking at one in mothercare last week really lightweight too
