Realised we need another thread as the other one reached 1000!

Glad to hear scans went well today.

Who else is waiting for their harmony results now? I am hoping to get them in the next few days! But I suspect Friday at the earliest and probably next week Monday! I had the bloods taken for it Thursday morning.

Just rang a private clinic near us to see an idea of costs etc for an additional scan - they start at £150!

Aneley · 10/07/2019 14:31

NapsAndTea - We are having reassurance scans privately and they are quite costly. £150-200 + £30-50 for 'after work hours'. Our hospital offers them as well for £70 but I really can't use that because it is not close to my office and I can't stay away from work that much. I am getting a bit frustrated realizing how many normal pregnancy things I can't do (or have to pay privately for) unless I take time off work.

Had 16 week midwife appt this morning
Think I’m developing a fear of blood tests and she could barely get any out and it was painful this time . I think it’s where it’s taken, that part of the arm is so sensitive and feeling the needle wiggle about knocked me sick
Also the whole potential incompatible blood type problem has me worried a bit. First I’d heard of it

Funnybunnyfluff · 10/07/2019 19:36

@Comps83

Don't worry too much I'm A- blood group and hubby is O+ I have to have an anti D injection in a 6/8weeks I think it is.

I had 2 last year when I had a miscarriage and D&C op.
They are not the nicest injections as the go into the muscle I had one in my arm and the other in my bum. I would opt for the bum again lol. Bit more flub there. It's not to bad though just a bit achy.

I also have to have the glucose drink as my bro is type 1 diabetic another joyful family gift lol.

Anyone else have to wait until mid August to find out the gender?

KatieMurr · 11/07/2019 10:54

I had my 16 week midwife appt last week and was able to hear the babies heartbeat. Sadly I went by myself as I told my husband it wouldn't probably be until the next appointment so he missed it which he was sad about. Baby very feisty wee thing and kept moving when they were trying to listen to it's heartbeat and was kicking me when the student midwife was trying to find it.

Just under 3 weeks (31st July) now until the 20 week scan and I cannot wait to find out what we are having.

RLI1105 · 11/07/2019 14:23

Well my 16 week appointment was a total non-event!
They took my blood pressure, tested my urine, asked me if I felt okay and then that was it! They don't listen to the heartbeat until the next appointment where I am which isn't until 24 weeks.
Bit of a waste of time but oh well!

KatieMurr · 11/07/2019 14:56

@RLI1105 I didn't think I would get to hear the heartbeat at this appt so told my husband not to bother. My work colleagues daughter who is due a week before me had her 16 week midwife appt and she never go to hear the heartbeat so not sure if it was because they had a trainee midwife in or because it depends on what area you live in.

My husband was quite disappointed when I came home and told him. But yes apart from that they tested my urine, took my blood pressure, told me to book an appt for the whooping cough vaccine and basically just went over my test results of the vials of blood she took at the first appt.

starflake · 11/07/2019 15:07

I'm quite lucky my doctors let me hear the heartbeat! Had just a routine doctor appointment for bloods a few weeks ago & he surprised me by saying will I get the Doppler so we can hear the baby! I nearly cried. Had my 16 week check up on Tuesday with them & they listened again.

Comps83 · 11/07/2019 16:38

I think listening to the heartbeat varies between surgeries
Mine don’t do it at 16 weeks

RLI1105 · 11/07/2019 17:11

@KatieMurr That's good you got to hear it although a shame for your husband! Mine just got home from work and that was the first thing he asked me but no news.... As you say it must depend on area and things. Only 4 weeks to my next scan though! Not sure if they'll fly or drag

Funnybunnyfluff · 11/07/2019 17:57

We got to hear the heart beat on our 16 week app I gathered that was the point of the appointment as u say nothing much else happens. 20 week scan on 29th July but having a private reassurance one next Thursday when we get to hear the heart again. Also must remind them no we don't want to know the gender lol.

Nervousdave · 11/07/2019 18:50

I recorded the heartbeat from my 16 week check up for my husband, and ended up sending it to both mums too! They both cried, bless them. It's first grandbaby for my parents.
My 20 week scan is also on 29th July, @Funnybunnyfluff but I have a few other appointments before that, with the consultants. We want to find out the gender though, mostly so I can stop calling it "it" !!

Funnybunnyfluff · 11/07/2019 22:04

@Nervousdave
Me to I'm already fed up of blood test and consultant every month due to u thyroid but least they are taking care of us both. Just hate all the hospital visits. 🙈

bobble53 · 12/07/2019 07:39

I’ve got sickness and the runs...thinking it’s a bug more than pregnancy related? I’m 19 weeks and felt so fine recently! Baby is kicking a lot so presuming nothing to worry about? Anyone else had a sick bug whilst pregnant?

Mamabear12 · 12/07/2019 08:02

I was surprised they let me listen to heartbeat at 15 weeks. It took a min to find though, which felt a while! But it does give reassurance. And now I want to listen again! 3 more weeks until 20 weeks scan and it feels like forever! I can’t wait to feel baby more to get reassurance.

@bobble53 My sister in law got a terrible sickness bug when she was pregnant and ended up needed a drop in hospital. She had a beautiful 8lb baby girl 4 days ago! I hope you feel better soon! There is honestly nothing worse than a sickness bug

Comps83 · 12/07/2019 18:37

Well I left early to go shopping for maternity clothes
Turns out nowhere does maternity clothes
And while there I got a call from the doctors to say my blood test has been rejected and I need to come in for another Sad

Mamabear12 · 12/07/2019 21:22

You need to buy maternity online. Check out H&M, top shop, next, gap

peasando · 13/07/2019 08:10

Also new look, Asos, Dorothy perkins! It's a pain buying online and not being able to try on, because you don't know what things are going to look like with your new body shape, but I've just stuck to pretty simple things (jeans, vest tops, long sleeved tops, a few dresses) and it's been fine.

Actually can't wear my normal clothes any more!

jpaws · 13/07/2019 08:40

Matalan have some maternity in store - I've just bought a few bits and they're quite nice and comfy!

NapsAndTea · 13/07/2019 10:02

@loie 13th August is our next scan

NapsAndTea · 13/07/2019 10:05

@Comps83 our H&M has an okay maternity section in store - just got 2 pairs of maternity jeans in the sale £20 for two pairs!!

starflake · 13/07/2019 17:14

So I had my gender/sex scan this morning, it's a girl..... Super happy, everything looks good & she was wriggling around like crazy.... This will be DD4 for us! God help us haha....
I have placenta previa though, placenta was completely in birth canal.... From what I've read though is that it can change so fingers crossed
