are we allowed to know who you are yet?

preggersagain · 25/07/2007 09:58

Mossy · 25/07/2007 09:59

Hello all you lovely ladies,

I'm from the March 2007 post-natal thread and I just wanted to wish you all the best because it was a year ago today I got my bfp! Now I have a lovely ds, 3.5 months' old (he was atually born on 11th April but was due 27 March) ... still nowhere near sleeping through the night mind you!

Good luck to you all!!

MerlinsBeard · 25/07/2007 10:00

mossy hello!

preggersagain · 25/07/2007 10:02

you may be surprised when i do reveal!! but it will explain some of my recent hormonally charged posts!!

MerlinsBeard · 25/07/2007 10:04

shall i start a countdown timer?
MN is quite hormonal anyway so i may not have noticed!

imjin100 · 25/07/2007 10:07

hello, I'm new to this site and have been enjoying trying to read all the stories and great advice and words of wisdom from those who have been here before. Congratulations to Lucy, great news and I'm so sorry to Belgo, gutting and I hope you're ok and being well looked after.

I'm due 1/3/08, first baby. Feeling fine after a long week of feeling very sick. Have had two scans, one planned and one at early pregnancy unit because all my symptons stopped and I got pains and was suddenly very nervous. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is concerned. I don't think all hospitals offer it as a drop in but some seem to and I rang round to find one. They didn't seem to mind at all and said that dealing with anxiety is half the battle in the first few months.
I hope everyone has a good day.

Can anyone help with this?

timmyinatizzy · 25/07/2007 10:52

HQ - We had a holiday to Florida booked for the end of December and coming back in January, but we have had to postpone (going to take Junior with us in October 2008 now). Whilst it seems that the airline will carry you, getting travel insurance is another matter. If I remember if you are less than 8 weeks (or 16 weeks if it is twins) until your due date then if something happens on holiday you may be liable for a huge medical bill!!!! I had to get my gp to fill in a form to say that I would be unfit to travel that my travel insurance sent us, it cost me £30 but it means that will get the cost of our flights, car hire and tickets back. We sent the completed forms off on Saturday so fingers crossed.

Preggersagain. who are you? All this intrigue is not good for us in our condition

timmyinatizzy · 25/07/2007 10:54

lcy - glad to hear everything is ok. Hope you and dp are feeling reassured now.

LoveAndSqualor · 25/07/2007 10:59

Good morning all - so many people!

Lcy, that's wonderful news, I'm very happy for you - what a relief.

Glad other people are havign the thirst thing, too - I was cycling home last nigt and had to keep taking swigs of water as my mouth was like sandpaper ... don't normally guzzle water like this unless I'm vaaaaaairy hungover!

I was supposed to see my GP today but he cancelled - grrrr - seeing him tomorrow now. Looking forward to it - I hope it'll make everything more real. Currently going through cycle of peaks of elation and troughs of panic!

derah · 25/07/2007 11:37

L&S - don't expect much from your GP appt. They usually go like this....

You walk in, gp asks what's up, you say you're pg. Doc says, 'oh that's nice, we'll book you in with the midwife'.

GP may possibly weigh you and take blood pressure.

You leave, wondering what the point of all that was!

It won't be until you see your midwife that you get any helpful info, I'm afraid, and most won't see you until 8, 10 or even 12 weeks (depends on your local NHS).

HolidaysQueen · 25/07/2007 13:03

timmyinatizzy - Fingers crossed for you - should be okay with insurance as you have all the right paperwork. First thing we did literally minutes after finding out I'm pregnant was calculate how pregnant I'll be on holiday and check our travel insurance - i'm not called HolidaysQueen for nothing We'll be just about okay - come back at end week 28, travel insurance covers me until week 32, airline fine until 36 weeks. All depends on whether dr/mw is happy with me going, but fortunately we don't have to pay final amount until Oct so have a few mobnths to see how things go both from dr/mw perspective but also how i think i'm doing before we have to make final decision.

I'm really looking fwd to taking our baby on holiday in the future - sounds like Florida will be lots of fun with baby even if perhaps he/she will be a bit young for Disney

derah - thanks for warning on drs appointment! i have mine tomorrow and they made me book a double appointment so i was expecting lots of things to happen but now i won't feel too disheartened if i come out wondering why i bothered. main thing for me is to get in hosp of choice as the popular one round here won't take you after 8 weeks as it's so popular (other hospital is grotty).

HQ xx

LoveAndSqualor · 25/07/2007 13:34

derah - ha! thanks for the warning - that sounds entirely likely. I won't expect too much, then! I'm in Hackney, in London, not renowned for its NHS facilities - and I've no idea what the hospitals are like. Hmmn, something to look into, clearly ..

mcchesers · 25/07/2007 13:50

derah - Thanks for that. I just wanted confirmed that what I got with my GP was normal. Cheers! so now the long wait for the card in the post.

Terribly thirsty as well today. I've downed a litre of water and a half of orange juice.
Finding it hard to brush my teeth as it's triggering my gag reflexes and since I've got ortho braces ya gotta brush.

Hi to all the newbie ladies!!

3madboys · 25/07/2007 14:00

hi all i found my gp app a waste of time too, i spoke to a midwife yesterday which was reassuring tho

having a bit of a nightmare day, i woke up to discover ds2 (just 5) had painted the bath with nail polish and then ds3 took his nappy off and pooed on the climbing frame in the garden, he then slid down the slide, smearing it as he went, yuck ,i feel sick anyway and that was just gross.

why am i having another one again?

LoveAndSqualor · 25/07/2007 14:36

yup, my bottle of water is on its third refill today, and I've had mint tea and juice too ... and my mouth is still like the sahara desert. Starting to wonder if it has anything to do with cutting out tea/coffee and booze? The upside is my skin looks better than it has in years ...

3madboys, . That's hilariously icky. Poor you! Can I ask how you managed to speak to a midwife directly - can you just call up without being referred by your GP?

derah · 25/07/2007 14:39

3MB - LOL!! Poor you! I must admit that when DD has days like that I wonder why I want another one. She's just starting the terrible twos and has a huge tantrum every time something isn't done exactly the way she wants it. Sigh... I just leave her to squeal until she's done, but it's very loud!

3madboys · 25/07/2007 14:43

yes i just phoned up the surgery and asked for the midwifes number, they gave me it no questions, then i called and there was a message with another phone no to call if you have any concerns, i phoned and spoke to someone who arranged for a midwife to call me back she was lovely, iwas in tears but she was very reassuring.

yes kids can be gross, the older they get the worse they get....ah well its all good fun

spugs · 25/07/2007 14:50

lcy- congratulations on the scan hunny

i had the mother of all migraines last night, i do get the odd one normlly but normally they only last an hour or so and my speech goes funny. this one was horriffic went to bed at 7 ish woke up at 1 am and thought head was going to explode, started spewing and had to send hubby to late night asda to get paracetamol (which did nothing) . still feel sick today and head hurts is i bend over/move to fast etc. just hope it was a one off as cant be doing with this. spewing may have been wierd ms i suppose bu if it was im changing my mind about wanting to feel sick

glammarjoram · 25/07/2007 15:03

L&S, I had my DD in 2000 at Homerton Hospital. Don't know what it's like now but it was a typical busy inner city unit. One downside was the labour ward was full so I was in labour downstairs on the post natal ward and DH could not be there all the time due to their rules. I got taken up to the delivery suite at some point but the whole experience wasn't too bad on the whole. If you have to stay in try and get a private room. Makes such a difference at night. I didn't get one but I boy, do Iwish I had! I'm at the Royal London this time (aaagh). I'm too scared to have a home birth due to various medical issues. I need to know I can have an epidural!Thirst is a big problem for me but even though I try and ration the fluid at bedtime I had to pee every f*ing hour last night. Sorry about my language ladies but it is seriously getting to me.

sweetkitty · 25/07/2007 15:29

hi ladies
I was sick for the first time today as well this morning when I was stacking up the dishwasher the smell just went for me, I was only sick once with DD2 never with DD1 so this is new. Felt a bit rough today as well all I want to do is sleep sleep sleep. Don't know what to do next week when DP is back at work.

mcchesers - it's not just your GP/midwife, with my first I didn't see a MW until 13 weeks and then got told off about being over for my nuchal fold scan, I told the GP I was pregnant at 4 weeks it wasn't my fault it took that long to get an appointment. I found that a lot one MW would tell you something then another one would tell you something different.

spugs - sorry to hear about your migraine, I suffer from them too and have taken migraleve in the past (I know I shouldn't but at the time I would have taken anything).

welcome and congrats imjim100

preggarsagain - am so intrigued to find out who you are!!!

Off to wake DD2 up if I don't she won't sleep tonight!

derah · 25/07/2007 16:30

Ah, bugger, it's been lovely all day but now it's home time it's raining and I'm on the bike today. Looks like we'll be getting wet on the way home. DD has a lovely big poncho to keep her dry (with frogs on) so she should be OK. I wish the blasted weather people would get it right! They said dry and clear for the South East today! Grrrrrr....

papaya · 25/07/2007 17:10

hello all, gosh i am going to struggle to keep up with this thread! thank you for all your welcomes what a relief Lcy to see your scan went well! I still havent booked myself in my midwife, i still have this thing in my head that I am going to jinx things, I have however done a little research and found a private ultrasound clinic 28 miles from me who do early dating scans for 75 pound so I am going tommorow night!! Nothing feels real at the moment so maybe after tomorow it will, a little scared now its booked that something wont be right etc, butI am just going to try and be positive x I thought I was 6+2, but bbc.co.uk pregnancy calendar has me at 7 weeks?? Will this defintately be an internal scan does anyone know? Or could they see something with a normal adominal ultrasound? I hate internals!!
