Welcome!

HolidaysQueen · 02/08/2007 15:12

merryberry - you are my hero - i'm off to buy ginger choc tonight, and i'm feeling so much better about my blood n' gore literary and televisual habits compared to yours

I've been drinking ginger cordial - not sure if it is helping the sickness cos that only really arrived yesterday so too early to know what works, but I love ginger and find this really refreshing whereas I find plain water somehow just sits in my tummy and sloshes around and makes me feel even more icky...

Welcome ParanoidWreck - you clearly got the name most of us should have got! Do try not to worry, too much, although of course that is very easy to say and not so easy to do Instead, why not spend your time reading this board and laughing at our ridiculous food/reading/constipation/fainting stories...

yardette · 02/08/2007 15:40

Paronoid Wreck - welcome and congrats! As the others have said, we're all a bit of a nightmare and worry far too much for our own good. Time does drag on, but try to chill out and relax and not worry too much - I'm sure everything will be fine next week, and big positive vibes coming out to you....

Does anyone else feel very farty at the moment? Think its because I'm constipated and bloated like a balloon but man, I sound and smell like a tramp at the moment!!

preggersagain · 02/08/2007 15:43

i'm not farty but i can't stop burping! not particularly ladylike but hey i'm pregnant so it doesn't matter!

yardette · 02/08/2007 15:50

Not sure whether I'm supposed to put brand names in here, but I recommend Twinings Lemon and Ginger tea, and Green and Blacks ginger choc.
I don't have ms but think these are yummy anyway!

ParanoidWreck · 02/08/2007 16:25

LOL - thank you for your warm welcomes and kind words - you've had me in stitches with your farty / burpy comments! I can't say that I have joined the windies yet, but just scoffed a bag of mini eggs and now definitely feel icky!!

imjin100 · 02/08/2007 16:50

off home at any moment, via the shop for green and blacks, any excuse - thanks for that Yardette.

In the meantime I trust the farts, burps, fainting, weird dreams, constant peeing and vomiting remain under control until tomorrow....have lovely evening one and all -despite rain for bike ride home I feel in a very joyful mood - so sending happy vibes to all.

yardette · 02/08/2007 17:50

Have good evenings all. I'm having a nightmare at work. Very busy, and it means I'm going to have to work till about 9pm (I started at 8am). I'm so incredibly tired, but there's nothing I can do - haven't told anyone at work otherwise there might be some sympathy! (although, I'm a lawyer, so I'd still be expected to work late to be honest)

Consoling myself at the thought of what take away I can get. I'll eat more fruit to make up for being bad nutrition!

winemakesmummyclever · 02/08/2007 17:53

Hi ladies,

Wow the list has really grown while I've been away - congrats to all .

Have just spent an exhausting week in Scotland battling ms whilst trying to keep pg a secret. Failed on both accounts. Spewed like a demon 10 minutes up Ben Ledi (v sensibly turned round & went home), then fil decided to tell whole party about pg when pissed at dinner . Apart from that, had a lovely, but knackering, time.

As for ms now, eating carbs evey couple of hours (mash is a particular favourite) seems to be helping. Tried sea bands last time, but they didn't work. Would normally love the choccie suggestions, but seem to be off sweet stuff .

Saw mw yesterday - same one as with ds, so that was nice. Waiting for dating scan now - very excited about that.

Ds has just arrived home from an afternoon with grandma and auntie - filthy & tired, but happy, bless him.

Off now as am wittering aren't I? That's what a week in the wilds without mumsnet does for you!

wendyredhead · 02/08/2007 18:45

I certainly don't envy all you working mums to be, especially those in the ole smoke.

This time around I'm chilling at home doing sweet F.A. (well actually I'm doing stuff but not getting paid for it!) having decided to take early retirement in the back-o-beyond (couldn't stomach any more of the corporate bs crap AAGH) so reading about you poor souls fainting on hot, overcrowded tubes and buses in Londinium is making me shiver and shudder and shake. It remains to say - hang on in there and be strong!

This could well account for the fact that I'm not as exhausted as you lot (feeling guilty now) and so I'm putting my bossy yead on now and saying: "TAKE IT EASY" and remember you & your baby's health is far more important than any job. That's an order!

FlossieF · 02/08/2007 19:31

Evening all. Another pretty positive day, today, I'm pleased to see.

New question for all you fellow first-timers out there (or others remembering first time round) - is your DH/DP excessively pleased with himself on account of his sperm having proved themselves to be up to the job (so to speak), or did I make my DP like this by feeding him sperm-enhancing vitamins whilst ttc?!

Just wondering.....

yardette · 02/08/2007 19:35

(if I didn't spend so long on mumsnet, I'd get out of work quicker!!)
Flossie F - oh yes, my DH is excessively pleased with himself. We were exceptionally lucky and managed to get preggers on our first month of TTC, so you can imagine how much of a swagger he has. If us ladies had as much pride and ego in what OUR bodies have already achieved, and are going to achieve in the next 7 months we wouldn't be able to get our heads out of the door!

(aaaaaahhhhh just had a panic hearing the words 7 months to go. i've spent so long wishing the time would fly by till the first scan, that i hadn't stopped to think that 2 out of the 9 months to wait before a little baby arrives have already gone!!!)

3madboys · 02/08/2007 19:35

lol, my dp is in shock still i think that i have got preg, we only had unprotected sex once the month i concieved, at a supposedly 'safe' time, just after my period he laughed and said he wishes he has as much energy as his sperm seem to have

ds1 was a one off when we were at uni, ds2 took 5wks for me to fall preg, ds3 took 3 wks for me to fall preg and then this one was a one off, so yes he is very impressed with his 'super sperm' nothing at all to do with my fab eggs and lovely cosey uterous obviously

wendyredhead · 02/08/2007 19:46

3madboys: wow, can't believe you fell pregnant! What are the odds of that hey! Just goes to show how different we all are & how anything's possible in the crazy world of conception.

Actually it's stories like this that make me think, it will happen when it happens.

yardette · 02/08/2007 19:54

3madboys - your uterus is clearly very inviting!!
wowee. Agree with wendyredhead - just shows that things will happen if they are meant to be.
Right, back to work....have good evenings all
x

FlossieF · 02/08/2007 20:04

Blimey! Makes our 3 months TTC seem distinctly unimpressive! I shan't tell him - the excessive pride is actually quite endearing....

Yardette - stop working! Go home! Working late is for losers

wendyredhead · 02/08/2007 21:25

My DH is just relieved that it's "all over" and the pressure is off, especially since he broke his pelvis & hip, poor love, baby dancing has been quite "challenging" to say the least

Yes, FlossieF, it is endearing isn't it, bless their little spermies and totally agree with you.....go home now Yardette!

M/N is a time warp....

timmyinatizzy · 02/08/2007 21:37

We too conceived on the third month of trying. I'm more impressed than dp as I thought that it would take me ages. I have previous problems with my pituatary (sp) gland that mucked about with my hormones for a couple of years. All better now though, but it did make me wonder. I sort co-oerced dp into starting sooner than we'd agreed just in case it did take a long time. I was pretty shocked when it happened so quickly. Only thing I have to worry about is if dp produced more twins . Damn those super spermies. He's already got one set of id girls, don't think he could cope with another set. Although I wouldn't swap my dsd's for the world.

Anyway not long now until my midwife appointment, thats on the 17 Aug then I have my nuchal scan on the 20 Aug. We are taking the dsd's to Butlins next week, so the time wil fly by. Can't wait to see Junior. I'm getting excited.

I do envy you Wendy, wish I didn't work. However have 2 dsd's, a full time job and the first time pregnancy tiredness to contend with. Oh well I can rest next week. Must go, got to sort out the washing that is in the machine.

skidoodle · 02/08/2007 22:03

Howdy all,

nice to see the positive vibes still contintuing

I was at work until 9 today, mostly due to my inability to work fast because of my poor concentration and general preggers thickness. I have to literally keep saying to myself "what am I trying to do right now again?"

yardette - yes, I am also one of the windies. quite enjoying it actually . DH not too impressed by some of the stinks I've been making, but I just blame it on the baby. He's less than convinced.

As for dreams, does anyone know who Michael McDowell is? Well in case you don't, he's an Irish politician who is a bit of a Nazi. Here are some pictures of him tinyurl.com/2ajgov anyway, it seems he's my Sting! Seriously, being pregnant is just so weird.

so funny about all the proud men. my DH is pretty hard to read on the whole situation. not much of a communicator. his main interest appears to be thinking up embarrassing names for possible children.

spugs · 02/08/2007 22:06

my dh is very pleased with his super sperm as well. we had dd1 after i forgot a few pills at uni dd2 after 4 mths of trying, the baby i mced was a one night without using anything and this time i fell after my 1st af after mc. hes also of the thinking (i dont know why) that it takes a real man to make girls!! we have 2

skidoodle · 02/08/2007 22:10

a real man to make girls?

well I guess that's the thinking of a man who makes girls...

Dontlookatmeimshy · 02/08/2007 22:22

I did read somewhere once that more fertile man are more likely to have girls, which seems somewhat ironic when you think some societies/cultures think they aren't men unless they have a boy.

Not sure whether it's true or not though

monthlymayhem · 02/08/2007 22:28

My dh is exactly the same. We conceived first month of trying and after me being on the pill for 13 years, so we were completely shocked that it happened so quickly!! My DH is frequently referring to himself as SS (Super sperm...) and can't wait to tell his mates- isn't it!

skidoodle · 02/08/2007 22:35

SS

that's super fun.

i think my dh is a bit embarrassed about our honeymoon baby. also he seems to have expected bfp on our first month ttc.

perhaps I'll have to do the strutting myself. but i'm too tired.
