Hi ladies

Thought I’d start a new thread as we were close to filling the last one. Shall we do a little check in?

I’m due 7th Jan with 2nd baby.

@Cannyhandleit all the midwives I told about the leg cramps just seemed to ignore me like it wasn't an issue. I even got them in labour and I can honestly say the leg cramps were worse than labour. They are agony. Did you find anything that helped? I did stretches before bed and tried not to sit down for too long at work.

Bentley111 · 17/05/2019 08:31

Thanks @TryingVeryHard2015 I have taken today off and am currently in bed with a digestive and a glass of squash.

DH asked what I'm going to do all day... apparently puke and sleep isn't an acceptable answer

@Gorillaandme I get awful leg cramps when AF is due as opposed to a stomach ache. Apparently it's linked to the uterus stretching. Really horrible... so hoping I don't get it in pregnancy or labour.

SleepingStandingUp · 17/05/2019 08:43

@MoominMantra do it! You don't want to make your back worse. You don't want to a worse bad back in heavy pregnancy. Pregnancy hormones loosen up your ligaments so you're more likely to pull something anyway.

Just get signed off and rest before new job

@bentley111 I've had to call in sick today too. I'm suffering with dizziness! Last night I felt like I was drunk and room was spinning.

Rest up remember so much happens in first trimester. The baby goes from a cell to a foetus with heart, lungs etc forming. That's hard work!

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 17/05/2019 10:06

No symptoms for me yet but I’m only 5 weeks, plenty of time for that to change. I do get a dull ache in my lower abdomen from time to time but I’m assuming thats perfectly normal.

Gorilla I had bad leg cramps at night last time and horrible restless legs, eased off a little when they put me on iron tablets but that could just have been coincidence!

McHelenz · 17/05/2019 10:06

Does anyone else just no believe they are pregnant? My symptoms are pretty minimal and Ive had no bleeding or even spotting. I'm not planning on having an early scan but I keep having the urge to pee on a stick again and again. (I've already done 5). I'm 5+3 today. I'm just convinced im going to have a missed miscarriage when I get to 12 weeks or that it's all been a lie...

MoominMantra · 17/05/2019 10:10

@McHelenz in my previous pregnancies I didn't have many symptoms at all and even in the first pregnancy when I had morning sickness it didn't start til 7/8 weeks. Try not to worry. We all do at this stage but the best thing you can do is just take care of yourself.

Thanks everyone for advice re: work.

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 17/05/2019 10:14

@McHelenz yes I still can’t get my head around the fact there’s a baby in there. I feel so lucky but quite anxious too, I’ve booked an early scan and will be absolutely shitting it beforehand. It’s definitely normal to worry at this stage though, once you start feeling the baby move it will feel so much more real.

Though I still often look at DD and think ‘I can’t believe I made you’ 😂

McHelenz · 17/05/2019 10:19

Thanks guys. @Monica I just can't justify the 60-70 for a 5 minute scan. I kept changing my mind and thinking book one for father's Day but Husband is not that keen in us paying for more scans.

I'm trying to be positive but I'm struggling a bit. I'm not the most patient person 😂

DinoGreen · 17/05/2019 10:20

Another one who had virtually no symptoms with my first pregnancy! I had an early scan at 8 weeks last time for reassurance (paid for privately) but I don’t think I’ll bother this time.

I only found out yesterday and I just feel like I’ve got so much to think about! Like how much leave I’ll take, what I should do with my DS and nursery while I’m off, what we should do about bedrooms, car seats, so much! I know I’ve got oodles of time but I’m a planner, so can’t help but start thinking about it all already.

I’m also already missing tea. I normally drink about 8 cups a day at work. Need to go out and buy some decaf (and some pregnancy vitamins) but I don’t really like the taste of decaf!

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 17/05/2019 10:23

@McHelenz it is expensive, mine’s going to be £35 which i didn’t think was too bad but my preferred clinic were charging £90 for an early scan, there’s no way I could justify that! We just have to hope that 12 weeks will be here before we know it!

mynameisMrG · 17/05/2019 10:35

I’m the same @McHelenz. It’s funny when TTC I convinced myself every symptom was a sign of pregnancy. Now I’m convincing myself it’s something else 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm now going down the rabbit hole of harmony tests and the like. Why can't I just be happy and positive 😭

anxiousmotherof1 · 17/05/2019 10:44

Where did everyone find these prices for scan ?? Here is £170 pounds !!

Am only thinking about it because we have a holiday booked in june and i would like to know everything is ok before going !

McHelenz · 17/05/2019 10:59

I think some people book via Groupon @anxious. The one near me was window to the womb and it was 69 pounds I think for a viability scan.

Bentley111 · 17/05/2019 11:01

@anxiousmotherof1 where are you? Here it's £59. They only do external though. Id like to get one for 8 weeks but DH isn't sure.

anxiousmotherof1 · 17/05/2019 11:03

I am in surrey . Ideally i want to do it on work days so we dont have to take ds so am only looking at a particular clinic near work .
Its too much isnt it ? We are also building an extension and a new kitchen so already strechung ourselves as it is
I will probably leave it and hope nothing bad happens in croatia !!

SleepingStandingUp · 17/05/2019 11:17

We're using that one @McHelenz

McHelenz · 17/05/2019 11:20

I think I'm just going to carry on as normal. There's no reason anything is going wrong and im being silly...

anxiousmotherof1 · 17/05/2019 11:25

@McHelenz there is no need for a harmony test unless there is something flagged up at the 12 weeks scan or if you are an "older" mother and need some reassurance.

McHelenz · 17/05/2019 11:27

@anxious I work in learning disabilities and children's palliative care so it obviously is all in the back of my head 😔

MrsM18 · 17/05/2019 11:37

£90 here for an early scan, which I've booked for 2nd June. I know a lot of people can't justify the money, but I can. My anxiety will just run away with me if I have to wait until 12 weeks 😩 Like @anxiousmotherof1 we're going away in June and I'd like the reassurance before we go!

SleepingStandingUp · 17/05/2019 12:06

We want to tell family end of May as I'm blatantly acting pregnant so early scan is just to know everuthing is OK atm. It is a lot of money for us, but I know I won't be OK waiting

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 17/05/2019 15:03

I've booked one for May 36th when I'll be 7+2 hoping I get to see the heartbeat 💗

Glittergirl2 · 17/05/2019 15:18

@anxiousmotherof1 the way I'm trying to look at it is even if everything looks fine on a 7/8/9 week scan things can still go wrong (hate to be negative but I've seen it happen and been through it 4 times with a close friend) I'm the most impatient person in the world but I'm trying my best to hold out for the 12 week scan as I think what you see on this scan is more likely to be the outcome if that makes sense xx
