Hi ladies

Thought I’d start a new thread as we were close to filling the last one. Shall we do a little check in?

I’m due 7th Jan with 2nd baby.

@DinoGreen if you haven't already, give Yorkshire Tea decaf a try. I'm a tea addict and it's the best alternative that I've found. I have one 'real' one at the start of the day then Yorkshire decaf for the rest of the day and it's more than tolerable!

Chantalle3 · 17/05/2019 15:44

@Avocuddles you sound like my tea twin 😂 although I've gone off tea yesterday and today, I NEVER thought that would happen!

Cannyhandleit · 17/05/2019 16:09

I've just woken up from the biggest nap, I also let the dc's nap with me and now I know I'm going to regret this tonight when they won't go to sleep and I'm shattered again! I forgot how exhausting pregnancy is. With ds1 I napped whenever I could, with the ds2 I could still get a decent nap out of ds1 in the afternoon so that was great but now I have 2 lively boys to run around after and it's HARD!!

anxiousmotherof1 · 17/05/2019 16:14

@Glittergirl2 i thought i was negative ;) but you beat me . The chances of a pregnancy failing after you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks are very minimal so if i did have a scan it would probably put my mind at ease .

MrsH497 · 17/05/2019 16:19

Had more bleeding today 😢

Glittergirl2 · 17/05/2019 16:19

@anxiousmotherof1 haha I'm just trying to be realistic, I feel it's such early days still that I'm trying not to get my hopes up and what will be will be x

SleepingStandingUp · 17/05/2019 16:23

MrsH497 hope you're doing OK and your little bean is well rooted in there x

mitzi2019 · 17/05/2019 16:25

@MrsH497 I've had brown spotting every day for 11 days now and am really fed up of it. Have a second early scan at 8 weeks the week after next. Did you book one in in the end? X

Chips84 · 17/05/2019 16:27

@anxiousmotherof1 I'm in the same boat as you. Only one near me is £170 which is extreme!
I'm going to see if I can get one booked in a little further out for less money though, as I think it will definitely help me with my anxiety. I had 2 MC recently, so even though I know things can still happen between 6 and 12 weeks, I think getting viability scan done will help me calm down a bit.

mynameisMrG · 17/05/2019 16:31

Sorry to hear that @MrsH497, was it more spotting?

MrsH497 · 17/05/2019 16:36

@mitzi2019 I'm still abroad EPU won't see me without gp referral who won't do one until these physically see me. I've had brown or bleeding spotting for pretty much 10 days now I'm fed up had no contact from a midwife since my referral feel abandoned by the nhs

EmzFirst · 17/05/2019 16:42

Hi all I think I'm due 20th Jan but don't know yet ... New mum x

mitzi2019 · 17/05/2019 16:44

@MrsH497 if you want to get seen as soon as you get back, I searched for hospitals which you could self refer to the EPU (so I didn't go to the one which I've referred myself to for actual
Maternity services) and they managed to see me the next day. Might be worthwhile if you're in a rush when you get back but ultimately the message I got was it's too early to tell either way. I've been reading some medical research which suggests elevated risk of miscarriage is largely for heavy continual bleeding rather than low level spotting so I have my fingers crossed it's just one of those things. I'm trying not to obsess about it but it's very difficult! X

AstroKate · 17/05/2019 16:55

@MrsH497 Where are you based in the UK? Some units just do walk ins, like mine.

If you're in or near London, St George's in Tooting do walk in Monday -Friday 8.30-11am

As others have said though, I was told spotting and small bleeding isn't uncommon and it's the heavy, continual ones to watch out for.

Keeping everything crossed for you

Bentley111 · 17/05/2019 17:14

Hope you're ok @MrsH497 much better advice from pp's than I could give. When are you due home?

Congrats on your BFP @EmzFirst

@Cannyhandleit oh no 🤦🏽‍♀️ hope they sleep tonight!

My sickness has finally started to shift... bet whoever named morning sickness was a bloke. It's 5.15pm and I'm only now feeling able to walk around without risk of heaving!

SleepingStandingUp · 17/05/2019 17:17

@MrsH497 it's hard this early. There's not much they can do to even tell before 6+ weeks and they're not really inclined before 8. I found I got more support as it went in with DS though, and did lots of panicky trips to clinics for monitoring as I had an anterior placenta so couldn't feel much movemebt

Avocuddles · 17/05/2019 17:20

@Chantalle3 i can't imagine ever going off of tea!!!!! In a life without wine it's the best thing going!

raligator · 17/05/2019 17:21

@glittergirl I’m the same , I know too many people who have lost at 9/10 weeks so I’m also waiting for the 12 week scan , although I obviously get why others don’t want too.

Has anyone told anybody yet?
We’re thinking of telling our parents next week, when I’ll be 8 weeks. I’ve actually been off work sick this week with terrible morning /all day sickness and light headedness, and I think if something goes wrong I’d want my family to know for support.. besides my mom has totally already guessed!

When are others telling?

Avocuddles · 17/05/2019 17:23

@MrsH497 so sorry to hear what you're experiencing and crossing my fingers that you manage to get seen swiftly and that all turns out to be ok.
The website www.aepu.org.uk/find-a-unit/ has details of all early pregnancy units so worth a search for those in your region that allow walk ins or self referral. Good luck xx

Bentley111 · 17/05/2019 17:40

@raligator my parents & my best friend know (arranging her bday night out and I couldn't lie 🙈). Everyone else including ILs once we get all clear from scans and nuchal tests

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 17/05/2019 17:54

I think your chances of miscarrying once you see a heartbeat at 8/9 weeks are really pretty slim, but I understand why people would choose to wait. Much like whether you choose to find out the sex or not, there isn’t a wrong answer. I didn’t have the patience to wait for either though 🙈

@raligator I have told one of my best friends as we have a few nights out planned and there is no way I’d get away with not drinking. We will tell everyone else after the 12-week scan I think, but I’m worried I’ll be massive this time and people will guess..

DinoGreen · 17/05/2019 17:57

@Avocuddles thanks for the Yorkshire tea tip - I’ll try and find some tomorrow! Last time round I tried PG Tips (yuck), Twinings (also not good) and finally Clipper which was the most bearable but v expensive!

I’m planning to tell my BFF when I see her tomorrow, and parents/siblings at around 10 weeks, only because we’re going to a family wedding and it would be most out of character for me not to be drinking so they will blatantly guess anyway.

SleepingStandingUp · 17/05/2019 18:01

A few people have guessed from my morning sickness / virgin cocktails etc but they know it's on the down low til June

MrsH497 · 17/05/2019 18:16

Due home morning of 21st. Passed a couple of small clots this isn't looking good is it x

KMic · 17/05/2019 18:23

Oo @MrsH497 I'm really sorry to say if there are clots it doesn't look good. How big are they? And what colour? Have you had any cramping?! Try and rest up and hope for the best... but prepare yourself for the worst and try and remember that everything happens for a reason. I'm so sorry this is happening whilst you are away xx
