Hi ladies

Thought I’d start a new thread as we were close to filling the last one. Shall we do a little check in?

I’m due 7th Jan with 2nd baby.

Got early bird clinic today, it's like a pre booking in appt and they're meant to do pre natal bloods, but they can't because it isn't the hospital I'll give birth in! So confused lol

ducksandacorns · 16/05/2019 13:35

Afternoon all.

I'm 7 weeks today, not feeling many symptoms at all since week 5. Had an early scan on Monday and all looked ok so far.

Baby4mum · 16/05/2019 14:09

Hey everyone! Since my last post, checked for last few days with better tests and fortunately all are coming very dark, often darken than the control line! But happiness I guess was shortlived! 😔 am 5 weeks today and noticed pink cm and brown watery discharge on wiping - mild period like cramps as well! You think it will end up in a CP? Did any of you experienced same kind of spotting but all went well later. I am still waiting for a call back after I filled the self referral form.

Baby4mum · 16/05/2019 14:18

Just caught up with all old posts. A lot of you mentioned having early scans b/w Wk 5 and 6. Where and How should I book them? Any references for good clinics? Were these scans transvaginal or transabdominal?

Anon120 · 16/05/2019 14:24

Am feeling quite in the dark with regards to scans to be honest.. as a first time mum I'm so confused by it all. Was told to just wait for a call from the midwife nearer the 12 weeks and that was it.

To top things off my parents have been giving me a really really hard time about it (partner is going through a redundancy and we are moving house) and others have expressed their worries/concerns to the point where it makes me question everything . Just feel so stressed with it all and not being physically 100% to deal with it doesn't help either. Just had a little cry in the work toilets.

Sorry for the rant and don't mean to dampen anyone's day just thought here might be the best place to offload xx

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 16/05/2019 14:30

@Baby4mum I have booked a private scan for 8 weeks and it will be transabdominal. When I was pregnant with DD I had an NHS scan at 7 weeks and it was transvaginal though, some clinics do both internal and external depending on how early you are. I personally wouldn’t bother until at least 7 weeks as there isn’t much to see otherwise.

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 16/05/2019 14:32

@Anon120 sorry to hear you’re feeling like that Flowers it can be overwhelming knowing what to do and when to do it.

If it makes you feel any better I recently moved house don’t have a clue how to refer to the midwife at my new clinic 🙈 it’s a minefield.

SleepingStandingUp · 16/05/2019 14:35

@Anon120 I'm sorry you're getting grief. I assume you want this baby? So every time someone mentions anything about the timing or situation just look them in the eye and say"well it's fine now, so we'll cope". Because ultimately cope is all any of us can do. You'll find a way through it xx

Vampysgirl · 16/05/2019 14:35

Hi,
I'm carefully joining this thread.
Going by LMP my dd is 11.1.

I have 2 boys ( born 2003 and 2014 ) and several MC. The last one was in 2017, so this one comes as a massive surprise.
Rather nervous at the moment.
Nice to meet you all

SleepingStandingUp · 16/05/2019 14:37

@Baby4mum our clinic won't scan unless you're 7 weeks based on lmp as before then you won't see a heartbeat and let's face it, that's mainly what you want at an early scan.

@Anon120 first NHS scan is 12 weeks but you will need antenatal bloods taken before 10 weeks I believe too

raligator · 16/05/2019 14:45

Just catching up - there can be so much chat between looking at this!

@baby4mum I wouldn’t worry to much about light discoloured cm or light spotting as that can be very normal when you’re still early.

A few people seem to be questioning private early scans, I think it’s entirely up to you - I am personally waiting until 12 weeks as it doesn’t really feel real to me until i see it, and my sisters have both had early scans and then lost the baby before their 12 week scan so I don’t want to get my hopes up to much BUT I completely understand why a lot of people are having early scans (and there is a small part of me that is jealous!). It’s just whatever suits you!

My nausea started at 6+6, and the only way I can describe it is like constant motion sickness that lasts ALL day, although only vomited twice so far (now 7+3).
Still getting some cramps, and have done since 4 weeks!

I just feel bad that I’m not getting much nutrition in, I’ve only been managing toast and cereal really and had some sugary drinks which I was craving, but have had to knock that habit on the head now!

mynameisMrG · 16/05/2019 14:52

Welcome @Vampysgirl and congratulations.

Sorry you’re having a hard time @anon. As if you don’t have enough stress to deal with without relatives adding to it. Feel free to vent on here!

I really want some salt and vinegar crisps...

Hi ladies. No massive symptoms for me so far tired and boobs are tender and veiny but no sickness so far. 6+2 today.
Dreamt the dr told me I was imagining the 6 tests I did and that I'm not pregnant!

mrscatmad31 · 16/05/2019 15:33

Hi, can i join?
Very early days for me but potential due date of 27th January, already have a DD who is 3 years old
Does not feel real yet!

KMic · 16/05/2019 15:33

I agree with @raligator it is totally down to you as an individual as to an early scan. Last time I was pregnant I just wanted to wait until the 12 week scan so i could actually see something. Didnt even consider an early scan. However, we got to that scan to find out the baby had stopped developing at 7-8 weeks - hence the MMC. Therefore I had gone 5 or so weeks thinking I was still pregnant when I technically wasn't ... for this reason I will be hoping to have an early scan with the NHS (and if not pay for a private one) .... to me, those 5 weeks could have been recovery time and I do not wish to be in that position again. I have a doctors apt on monday - when I will be 6+1 and will be requesting a scan for 7 weeks (just before I go on holiday) and then another for around 9 weeks (after I am back) just to confirm that everything is either ok or not (you have to be realistic I think). At least then we can know what to do. Obviously I am PRAYING that everything will be ok this time, and there is no reason why it shouldn't be. But that's my reasoning for wanting an early scan ..... every one of us if different and in a different situation with differing levels of anxiety, so you can only do what is right for you :)

@Baby4mum ... I had some spotting a week ago at almost 5 weeks - just had it one eve and havent had it since. I assume this was implantation bleeding - so yours is most likely the same? Try not to worry xx

Vampysgirl · 16/05/2019 16:40

@Anon120 My partner was told he's being made redundant and 2 days later we found out I'm pregnant.
I know exactly how you feel. However, I believe this happened for a reason and like always, we will somehow manage. Don't let others ruin your Joy of being pregnant. Something better will come along for your OH

BowiesJumper · 16/05/2019 16:47

@mrscatmad31 Grin SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

@Baby4mum I had that lots in my first pregnancy and all was fine, try not to worry.

Baby4mum · 16/05/2019 17:36

@KMic - don’t worry, all will certainly go well this time. Relieved to hear you had spotting at 5 wks too. Mine is watery brown and occasional pink and yellow ting blobs of cm. Don’t think it is implantation bleeding as I got typical IB at 4 week approx 13 -15 dpo when my period was actually due. I am 1 week late.

@ raligator @MonicaGellerHyphenBing - @ SleepingStandingUp - Thanks for the advice. I am relieved and trying best not to worry. Regarding scan, will see what NHS says when they call me and will think about a scan at 7-8 weeks if spotting continues

Baby4mum · 16/05/2019 17:39

@BowiesJumper - Thanks. Fingers crossed. My DH is out of town for 2 weeks now and will be alone - but trying not to get tensed. Destressing doing meditation every noght and morning and eating every 2 hours

Mirana · 16/05/2019 18:16

Hi all, please may I join? I'm 28 (29 in july!) and this is my 1st baby after losses.

My EDD is 25th Jan, I'm currently 3+5. I found out yesterday that I'm expecting, I actually got a reasonably clear positive last night and a true positive this morning, that was then confirmed at my GP office... I have a history of miscarriage and I have a suspected low ovarian reserve, I was going through a gynae consultant for fertility testing when this surprise hit us! Obviously really nerve wracking, wish I was one of those women who doesn't know their pregnant until they're on the loo and a baby pops out, although with my love for a nice margarita the earlier the better really haha.

GP has confirmed I will have early scans etc when I'm past the 6 week mark. For me, 6 weeks is the big milestone, 8 weeks even bigger, so I'm just taking it easy and quietly hoping to get that far with a healthy bean. Can't even imagine hitting 12 weeks so keeping my steps small for now!

I am however suffering already with symptoms, GP said strong positives this early are quite rare, and the sickness I'm feeling even rarer... Thanks Doc Wine I'm mainly just bloated with some mild backache, but when I'm hungry I get horrible waves of nausea and unfortunately have thrown up a few times. What a stunner. (He did thoroughly check for infections etc that could lead to the nausea and came to the conclusion this is just hormones and unlucky!).

Mirana · 16/05/2019 18:18

Apologies for the long intro post, bloody Roald Dahl over here Grin

Also, they're* I'm so freaking tired, sorry!

SleepingStandingUp · 16/05/2019 18:21

@Mirana congratulations.
I got a quick string positive at about the same gestation too and the symptoms aren't going away!!
Stupidly didn't eat before I left home and now trying not to vomit on the bus. I HAVE to wat before I get to the cinema and decide on an excuse for not drinking.

plipliop · 16/05/2019 18:37

Why has this week been so long?!!

Come on Friday.
Thank God SATs are over.
So tired 💤
