Hi ladies

Thought I’d start a new thread as we were close to filling the last one. Shall we do a little check in?

I’m due 7th Jan with 2nd baby.

Lovely scan pics! DH has convinced me that we should have one ... I’m planning to book it for 3 weeks’ time when I’ll be 9 weeks, then planning to tell parents after that.

plipliop · 26/05/2019 19:17

Lovely scan pics!

MummyBearBoo · 26/05/2019 20:01

Lovely scan pics
I have my dating scan at 9 weeks so 2 weeks on Tuesday!!
@SleepingStandingUp -it is a faulty chromosome 19 so you can't just carry it you either have it or you don't -it is the same condition I have but it gets considerably worse by generation the next generation (so any baby that I have) if it has the condition would be incompatible with life and would suffer if it made it full term! It depends which egg I release as to whether it has it or not so it 50/50! X

SleepingStandingUp · 26/05/2019 20:47

Ah ok, sorry, i'm just curious as i have a wonky chromosome child myself and thought you'd said it was what you had but then was confused as you'd said baby would be IWL but that makes it clear. Keeping fingers crossed for 46 lovely ones xx

Bentley111 · 26/05/2019 21:17

That sounds awful @MummyBearBoo I'm keeping everything crossed for you.

Lovely pics today @Victoriaaaaaaaa & @SleepingStandingUp - still in two minds whether or not to book one 😩

SleepingStandingUp · 26/05/2019 21:20

For mem even though i know it isn't a promise that everything will be ok, it's put my mind at rest that guppy is at least growing. It will hopefully shut up some of my intrusive thoughts too.

DaisyMay25 · 26/05/2019 21:22

I've got my first midwife appointment on Wednesday, I've never had one before and wondering there's anything I should ask?
Also I've never had chicken pox (neither has my mum) so wondering if I should mention this?
Got my scan the day after too, hopefully all is fine then I'll be telling my parents!

Ceejay19 · 26/05/2019 21:51

@DaisyMay25 they should ask you if you've had chicken pox, so I'd mention it if they don't ask. The appointment is about an hour long, lots of form filling and medical history and they take blood and urine samples.

DaisyMay25 · 26/05/2019 21:53

@Ceejay19 thank you! DH can't come with me, am I right in thinking they'll only ask me about his medical history and both his parents?

Cannyhandleit · 26/05/2019 22:00

@DaisyMay25 yeah they will ask you if you've had chicken pox and about your OH and his immediate family, they took note that my sil had GD so I guess it's good to know any info like that!

Ceejay19 · 26/05/2019 22:02

Yes @DaisyMay25 that's right. Although my midwife did say if there is anything significant in either of our grandparents it's worth mentioning too.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/05/2019 22:05

Is it your booking in?

They'll check your date, blood pressure and urine (ask for a sample bottle off receptionist and pee before you book in)
They check whether you have any support issues, stable housing, partner, dv etc.
Discuss any medical issues
Mine made referral for prenatal bloods and sent referral for my 12 week scan, and let mek onw about the vacines they recommend
Ask anything you're not sure of, no such thing as a stupid question

DaisyMay25 · 26/05/2019 22:09

Thanks everyone, it's all a bit daunting when it's the first time.

Most questions like domestic violence and any history of child abuse in my family I've already had to go through as well as tests for HIV and all that because of IVF so not sure if they'll repeat it.

I think I'll write down any questions I think of just so I don't forget, I can be a bit of a scatter brain!

Anybody else got scans or midwife appointments next week? It's starting to go quickly now!!

DaisyMay25 · 26/05/2019 22:10

Yea @SleepingStandingUp it's my booking in one, I'll be 9 weeks which I think is a normal time to have one

SleepingStandingUp · 26/05/2019 22:13

Tbh they don't like partners there anyway as they ask about DV etc.

Medical history they will ask if there are any conditions that run in families so I'd think siblings, parents and grandparents - might be worth phoning him Mom and asking Grin

mynameisMrG · 26/05/2019 22:44

My midwife is on holiday over half term so I’ve got another week and a half until my booking appointment. Got my follow up scan that week too so all seems to be coming at once

Thanks @Bentley111 and @SleepingStandingUp -hope we both get our beautiful healthy babies in January! Xx

MoominMantra · 26/05/2019 23:32

Have any of you thought about names yet? It's way early and anything can happen but I feel like I need a lot of time to be sure about a name.

LadyChancer · 26/05/2019 23:38

@moominmantra I’m just starting to feel a little more positive about having this pregnancy, so yeah I have started thinking about names. My OH said no to lots of names I picked out last time. I love the name Juliet but he won’t have any of it 😭

Loonyluna16 · 26/05/2019 23:39

Hi, am I too late to join, just found out at the start of the week I’m coming up on 6 weeks pregnant with #2! I just had DS in September 2018 so it’s came as a bit of a shock! By the time new little one is here, my boy will be 16 months

SleepingStandingUp · 27/05/2019 04:21

Of course not Luna, welcome and congratulations . When's your due date?

Moomin DH and I constantly bounce names even when I'm not pregnant
Girl would likely be Lilyana but lethality nothing he likes for a boy. DS was basically the name he least disliked
Left to him a boy would be Zebulon!

Sunshine3105 · 27/05/2019 08:47

@MoominMantra DH and I have had our names picked out for over a year, two girls names and two boys just to cover all situations. I do agree though that boys names are a lot harder to pick than girls!

SleepingStandingUp · 27/05/2019 09:09

@Sunshine3105 just be mindful that it might be too early to see a heartbeat so be prepared for that

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 27/05/2019 09:11

I've got my booking in appointment on Thursday!

For a boy I love the names Theo and Spencer but DH hates them!

For a girl he loves Jessica but I hate it 🙈 little Jessie 🙈
