The stretching/pulling is odd, I didn't get it with DD and now if I stand up too quickly I'm doubled over! it feels like somethings going to snap!

Have a private scan tomorrow so DD can see baby because our hospital doesn't allow kids at scans, it was to see sex too but dh is now really insistent on not finding out so it'll just be a little look at chipmunk (that's how big it is now on ovia- a PlayStation controller, pomegranate or chipmunk 🐿 ). I booked it a while ago and then the anomaly scan date is Tuesday so we get to see baby twice in a week 😀

We got a really good deal on a travel system, next2 me cot, swing and baby seat from precious little one and that's coming later today. It's a fab bundle at £399.95 if anyone is looking!

codenameduchess · 28/06/2019 18:21

My travel system bundle came today! Very excited although haven't opened the boxes yet... when I saw it I told dh to have a look at it and see what he thought (because he won't pay more than £200 for a pram/travel system including car seat and wouldn't get any of the others I wanted and this was a great deal!), he said it was great and buy it!!

Now it's come he's 'researching' and having a strop at me because the car seat isn't what he wanted- the type he wants would be more than £200 alone never mind the pram and seat bases- what did he want?! And he said he'd looked at it all before I ordered! I'm furious with him.

lovebeingmum9 · 28/06/2019 23:15

hey @codenameduchess that sounds like an amazing deal to me.....was it the moove travel system, crib with yellow rocker as I showed my hubby after you said about it and was tempted to buy.....looks like a sturdy, nice bargain? what's wrong with the car seat, shame your oh isn't happy with it now, maybe he's realised it would be easier to have car seat and base rather than the strapping in kind....but for the money that seems like a brilliant deal to me? x

fonxey · 29/06/2019 00:36

Found out I'm having a girl!

I kinda wanted a boy but not seriously. I'm perfectly happy with a girl although i think somehow I am worrying more. There is a bit of a cycle with mother's and daughters not getting along in my family... In worried what if it happens again? Dumb, I know.

Now she feels more real. And it's nice to have a pronoun to use.

codenameduchess · 29/06/2019 06:52

@lovebeingmum9 yes it's that he wants a base, but the only systems with carry cot, seat unit, car seat and base are a lot more than he's willing to pay.... I've shown him loads but it's always too expensive (over £180 for everything) there is no answer!! I'd rather get one of the bigger birth to 7 car seats that turn anyway as they're a lot safer and it's me that will have baby most of the time anyway.

lovebeingmum9 · 29/06/2019 07:33

@codenameduchess ahh yeah the bases alone are usually over £100 and then the car seats that fit them aren't cheap! but like you say your going to be using the pram etc more so it's predominantly you that has to be happy with it! we're going to hold off for the mo and wait for 20wk scan (baby's gender) but still think that's a bargain and might end up getting it lol so thanks for the mention x
@fonxey congrats hun....aww a beautiful daughter! I remember thinking the exact same as you.....the woman in my family have never had the movie perfect mother/daughter relationships either but it's your time to turn that around! me and my daughter (who's 7) we are so close and it's lovely to break the family cycle and have the relationship you've always wanted with your mum but instead....with your daughter! Smile also shopping buddy lol!!!!

codenameduchess · 29/06/2019 07:41

That was my point @lovebeingmum9 if he won't pay that's the best offer I could find and we wanted a next 2 me crib and swing too. I've shopped around and a decent travel system - £300, car seat -£150, 2x bases - £200, next 2 me - £100, swing - £50 so actually that £400 is a bargain!

I also got a play mat yesterday, someone was selling the one I want on fb for £15 nearly new and it's £80 new so I jumped on it! I set it up to check it and the cat has claimed it's her own 🤦‍♀️

Congrats @fonxey how exciting!!

lovebeingmum9 · 29/06/2019 17:34

@codenameduchess yeah it's tough to find all them things that fits into a budget but I'd say you Def found it....bargain! well done with the playmat too,I can't wait to start buying bits....our budget will be tight this time though as this is our 4th and final so either already have or don't want to spend too much on things were only going to use for last child.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 29/06/2019 18:02

I've bought a few things today that were on a good deal in our local Aldi, a wee Moses basket with a stand for £10, nappy bin thingy £3.50. And a bath thermometer that I probably don't need but it'll save panic over the temp of bath water £4.50. @codenameduchess your travel system sounds brilliant, we were looking at some today and the price!

codenameduchess · 29/06/2019 18:43

@lovebeingmum9 we spent so much first time on stuff we never used! Loads ended up in charity shops or given away as we just didn't have space for it. The annoying thing with dh is we don't have a particularly tight budget either, he just doesn't like spending money 🤦‍♀️

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver I haven't opened the box yet, but it's got good reviews! The precious little one website is worth a look at anyway as they have pretty good prices- including some of the best prices on MAM bottles I've seen.

CourgetteAndCrisps · 29/06/2019 18:46

Got to love an Aldi deal @smartcarnotsosmartdriver - The Moses basket sounds like a total bargain! I've only got a few clothes so far, I'm worried that if I start buying stuff too soon I'll get carried away.

Update on my bump, after asking you ladies the other day, I felt my little one move for the first time on Thursday. It felt like a faint prod on one side of my belly but it was just the best feeling in the world. It all feels a lot more real for me now.

CourgetteAndCrisps · 29/06/2019 18:52

Ps. Congratulations @fonxey 💕

I totally get the mother-daughter fear, but maybe fate has given you this little girl to break the pattern. I've had / have a tricky family dynamic, so did a little counselling in the lead up to getting pregnant.

Anyways it might be total overkill for your situation, but it really helped me identify/ understand the triggers and life-scripts going on in my world - so hopefully I'll be more conscious of not passing them onto bubs.

fonxey · 29/06/2019 19:22

Thanks @lovebeingmum9 and @CourgetteAndCrisps i hope so. It really did make me not want children for a long time. I convinced myself i didn't in fact. Coming to terms with wanting a child took ages. I have what they didn't though. My grandma i think if the contraceptive pill had been available in the 30s would never have had any children. And my mum and dad never got along. . So this kid had few more things going for her already!

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver i must pop to my local aldi! Baby stuff is sooo expensive. We have spent a fortune on a cosatto pram... It has good reviews and it isn't black. Plus it's one of those things that should last a few years.

And the side sleeper cos i looked at in mother care were so expensive. £200 for something we'll only need 6 months? You'd think there would be a flood of them in facebook but i can't see any. Obvs is get a new mattress for it.

I got a couple of books the other day for her. I'm a reader so i want her to be one too. I'm going to start reading to her the moment she's born haha. How it will stick.

fonxey · 29/06/2019 19:23

Hope! Hope it'll stick. My typing is soooo bad on this phone

fonxey · 29/06/2019 19:28

I wish i could feel movement but u have an anterior placenta. Soooo disappointed. I'll have to wait until at least 20 weeks... Sad

Mind, on the scan the other day she was just laying on her backside legs resting up on my small intestine or whatever having a snooze. I got a great pic of her hand though as if shooing us away!

Laravallence · 29/06/2019 19:35

Hi All, hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m due 25 December ( can you believe it?!) I’ve had 2 miscarriages and this is the further I’ve got so I’m happy but nervous! I haven’t told anyone I am yet, planning on having one more scan and then letting people know on the 14th July. My question is how is everyone feeling at 14 weeks, my symptoms have gone but I’m hoping it’s normal!! Xx

Laravallence · 29/06/2019 19:41

Anyone in Bristol due Dec 2019/Jan 2020?

codenameduchess · 29/06/2019 19:46

@fonxey I had it confirmed today i have a anterior placenta too, had the same last time too and I'm a bit gutted dh only felt it once... I was hoping dh and dd would get to feel this one more.
I have had movement a lot earlier this time though, started getting it around 16 weeks. Now at 17+5 they are a little stronger but still erratic, can't wait for the regular kicks and wiggles.

IHD83 · 29/06/2019 20:45

I am also a bit confused with the movements because some days I feel some fluttering but other days nothing at all. I don’t remember whether with my first baby was so irregular too at the beginning...

CourgetteAndCrisps · 30/06/2019 11:47

@fonxey it sounds like you have a really good handle on what's going on behind the scenes for your fam. I can't imagine how hard it must be to not have choice around when or who you build your family with - and it must be even trickier being brought into the world and feeling some underlying resentment from a parent.

I love that your parenting journey started from a place where you didn't want kids. I bet you've put a lot of thought into changing your perspective and have an awesome awareness of what it means to be a parent because of it.

CourgetteAndCrisps · 30/06/2019 11:48

@fonxey ps. Adore the scan wave! Her little fingers are too much 🥰🙈

CourgetteAndCrisps · 30/06/2019 12:03

Hey @Laravallence 💕 Congratulations in your Christmas baby! I've been pretty easy going with all my symptoms, but the little things I felt have definitely eased off other than the tiredness and getting up a millions times in the night to pee 😴😫

fonxey · 30/06/2019 13:43

@CourgetteAndCrisps thanks for your kind words. Smile

fonxey · 30/06/2019 15:02

@Laravallence welcome and congrats on your Christmas baby!

Your symptoms are meant to subdide into your second trimester so i wouldn't worry.

I on the otherhand had zero symptoms to complain about first trimester and now they seem to be catching up with me! Saying that, but so bad at present 16 weeks.

Emmilou82 · 30/06/2019 18:36

Hey all, I hope you are all well?!

I've been lurking in the back ground and just love seeing what's happening with everyone 😀
Hubby and I have just decided we are going to get an early gender scan....yipeeee. A local clinic in my town do a 2D sexing scan for £60 so we have booked it as we just can't wait. I'll be 17 + 2 and our next scan isn't until August 9th (21 weeks)

So excited!
