No one explains anything to me

They just write "experienced mother" all over notes

This happened in last two pregnancies too

Megan2018 · 24/04/2019 16:12

20 week scan done! All looking good. Little monkey is an awkward place for photos but all the measurements were bang on. Placenta in right place, distance to cervix good. Heart good, spine good etc.
Most exciting though is that we are on the “growth pathway” so we get more scans. Next one is 13 June. I think this is just because I’m old. But more scans is reassuring so I’m good with that.
So bloody excited now!! Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 24/04/2019 16:30

Ah i want more scans! But without complications.....or paying for them.....lol

DustyDoorframes · 24/04/2019 16:48

Yay @Megan2018 !!!

MyHomey · 24/04/2019 17:14

Our scan all went well too! All looked normal and it was very wriggly, but they managed to take all pics and measurements... it even gave us a thumbs up at one point!

Didn't find out the sex.. Although was so so tempting!

@Megan2018 glad to hear yours went well! Grin

DustyDoorframes · 24/04/2019 17:56

Oooh well @MyHomey done holding your nerve! And yay for a good scan!

excitednerves · 24/04/2019 18:41

Hello! I’ve not been keeping up with the thread lately so just catching up. It’s all getting real now isn’t it!

I have started thinking about a birth plan as I’d like as little medical intervention as possible, unless it’s an emergency. There’s so much to think about.

My 20 wk scan went well(ish). Despite 3 attempts they still couldn’t get baby to be in profile for a pic of their face so I have to go back next week. Yay, that I get to see baby again though. Everything else was totally normal. Phew!

I feel like it’s given me permission to start shopping though! Just bought 2 little (gender neutral) body suits in Tesco on the way home from work! First purchase done! Now to just spread out the rest of the shopping sensibly and not go crazy!

Megan2018 · 24/04/2019 18:47

@Lavellan My pathway is orange for growth scans. I don’t think the colour means much! Glad scan went well for you.

Also good news @MyHomey and @excitednerves! We’re all over that line. Phew.

Our baby is currently breech, and facing in to me so kicking in, not out most of the time. This made photos difficult and took a while for the measurements especially heart. But we got there in the end.

MyHomey · 24/04/2019 20:22

@excitednerves I am now currently sat on my laptop with a lot of different tabs open ready to start a spending spree!

Can anyone advise... if I choose to get MAM bottles, should I also get the MAM breast pump? Or can you mix the bottles and pump? Sorry if that's a stupid question!

Whisky2014 · 24/04/2019 20:53

Hey megan2018 that's good about the scan.
Was it you talking on the previous thread about a good pram for walking around forests etc? Apologies if it wasn't. Im just wondering what the model was if it was you.

We're going to Glasgow on Saturday for a nice meal then to the shops in Sunday for baby stuff!

Stroan · 24/04/2019 21:01

@whisky2014 are you near Glasgow?

If you can get to the Pram centre it has the biggest range of prams plus other baby stuff! They do bundles online but will price match in store.

GemmaJen · 24/04/2019 21:06

Well I had my first hormonal breakdown today. Got upset with DH as he didn't realise I was upset, which upset him which upset me more. Decided I needed Chinese takeaway to cure me of my downer mood. Then proceeded to breakdown crying when I couldn't find the cash point in town. DH has safely delivered me to bed, post takeaway, with the cuddliest of our 3 dogs in order to recover. I feel like such a fool, lol. Hopefully my hormones won't get the best if me tomorrow 🙈🤞

Congratulations on the positive scans @Megan2018 and @MyHomey.

Hsunshine · 24/04/2019 21:16

I have already got my pram and all furniture.... I feel like baby will end up with a lot of clothes as I feel the need to shop next 18 weeks

Whisky2014 · 24/04/2019 21:25

Oh thank you Stroan! Im on east coast just going to Glasgow for the night and a day shopping. :) that's good info to have!

Whisky2014 · 24/04/2019 21:28

GemmaJen oh poor you. But I Have to say, I'm jealous of cuddly dog bed cuddles. Sniff it's head for me :)

excitednerves · 24/04/2019 21:43

@MyHomey enjoy! Asda has a baby sale on at the minute. I just picked up some cute baby clothes!

GemmaJen · 24/04/2019 21:50

@Whisky2014 she's a pretty good snuggle buddy 😊 pets are definitely a cure for general grumpiness - they're going to have such a shock come September!

Whisky2014 · 24/04/2019 22:04

GemmaJen omg she's so cute! Heh Yeh i bet!
I looked after my parents dog for 4 years whilst they were abroad and now they are back they have taken her back again. So my house is all sad and quiet now she's not here. I'm not allowed another one yet cause "theyre a tie" and "its not fair to the dog". Humph

TwittleBee · 25/04/2019 04:08

MyHomey I'd honestly wait until baby is here before getting feeding stuff just because you won't know what your baby will be like feeding. Or if you you really want to get things like a pump and bottles now, only get a few bits. I know plenty of babies that didn't get on with certain bottles and mums that didn't get on with pumps etc.

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/04/2019 04:20

What you doing up twittle?

MyHomey · 25/04/2019 06:57

@TwittleBee thanks for the advice :) it's tricky... if I manage to breastfeed, I'd want to share the feeding with DH, so would need a pump/bottles. If I don't get on with breastfeeding I'll also need bottles but no pump... . It's a shame you can't try before you buy to see what they'll get on with!

I think you're right though, I'll just buy a couple of bottles to test out, and wait to get a pump & see if I'll need one (this is where amazon prime comes in handy!)

MyHomey · 25/04/2019 07:00

@GemmaJen I woke up at 4am and couldn't sleep so decided to move into the spare room for a change of scenery.. woke up with this one next to me!!

MyHomey · 25/04/2019 07:02

@excitednerves I had a look at Asda and bought some bits too! The Billie Faiers range is actually lovely!!

BonnieSeptember · 25/04/2019 07:11

Hi! New to the site. Due end of September, currently 18+2, still being sick every morning 🤮 anyone else suffering with sickness later than expected?

DustyDoorframes · 25/04/2019 07:57

Welcome @BonnieSeptember ! There's a few on here still chucking- I feel for you all!
@MyHomey you are probably better off establishing breastfeeding before handing over any feeds to DP, as by far the easiest way to get up and running with breastfeeding is to stick an actual baby to your boob whenever it asks. So I wouldn't worry about getting a pump before the baby turns up. If you need one medically right at the start the hospital will sort you out.
