@bbell2 I absolutely loved mine, great for pottering about the house with a velcro baby. I must try to remember who I lent it to!

TwittleBee · 13/05/2019 20:42

I loved my caboo too and super excited about using it again. Just didn't like the colour but that's obviously nothing to fuss about!

Stroan · 13/05/2019 21:45

@twittlebee same! And the ones I saw in TK Maxx are really nice patterns. I was very tempted but I don't think DH would be impressed. We also get a stretchy wrap in the baby box I think, so will give that a try.

excitednerves · 14/05/2019 09:30

24 weeks today! Works up feeling like I’d hit a milestone.... then had blood when I wiped. Totally in shock as I can’t think of anything that would have caused it. I put a liner in and there’s been no more. Do I call the midwife, or just keep an eye on it and call if there’s any more? I have a midwife appt on Friday anyway.

Also @whisky we have the same mat leave date! 12 weeks and counting. It can’t come soon enough!

TwittleBee · 14/05/2019 09:44

excitednerves call triage now if you can, better to go in and get it checked. Most likely its nothing, especially as there has been no more and doesnt sound like you have any other worrying symptoms but do go get checked out!

14 weeks for me, until Mat Leave! Breaking up the week before Aug bank holiday now. So I will be 36 weeks which will hopefully give me a little time to relax and prep before the new arrival. Still undecided about keeping DS in nursery whilst on mat leave, I think it will be better for him to stay there as I wont have to ease him back in again but its the cost!

Megan2018 · 14/05/2019 09:53

@excitednerves
Ring your Maternal Assessment Unit or whatever the equivalent is where you are. This is similar to what I had the other Saturday and I was told quite clearly by the on call midwife that any spotting or bleeding over 16 weeks warrants a check up. No exceptions. They certainly insisted on seeing me.

They will want you to keep any pads - I had to out mine in a little paper bag for them to look at along with a urine sample.

One thing to check (they asked me) is is the bleeding definitely vaginal? Apparently bleeding from piles is often mistaken in pregnancy.

I had the heartbeat checked and a quick internal which confirmed all was well - but don't chance it. Definitely get it checked out.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 14/05/2019 09:58

@excitednerves do you have low lying placenta? It could be that if you do, but yes agree with @TwittleBee that it’s best to call midwives/triage and see what they say.

Ah mat leave. I’m planning to work until the Friday of the bank hol (23rd) when I’ll be 36+4 - using two weeks A/L then onto mat pay. So 14.5 weeks and we’re away for a week of that anyway. Might work the last couple of weeks mainly from home. Will see how it all goes though! Dreaming of reading my book and baking.

@TwittleBee - our plan is to keep DD (just 2) in nursery while I’m off. We can afford it if we tighten our belts a little and I think she’ll enjoy the activities they do there more than being at home with me and bubs. She goes 4 days a week at the moment, so will have to muddle through best we can on those Mondays!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 14/05/2019 10:04

Bold fail there!

Megan2018 · 14/05/2019 10:08

I am planning to take annual leave from Monday 19 August and then mat leave from 2 September. I'll be just over 36 weeks. My replacement starts 1 Aug hopefully so we will have 2 weeks handover.

I have other leave booked between then and now so I think only about 11 working weeks left.

It seems likely that being over 40 I'll be induced earlier than 40 weeks (some areas seem to do it at 39 weeks routinely) so might only have 3 weeks at home rather than 4+.

TwittleBee · 14/05/2019 10:35

BridgetJones yeah our DS will have just turned 2 but only goes one day a week currently. Maybe I will just do half a day so he is still in contact with them and has that routine of going.

Fortheloveofscience · 14/05/2019 10:36

I’m working until the end of August when I’ll be 37.5 then AL until due date/baby’s arrival.

Think getting into London on the last few weeks might be quite tough!

April88 · 14/05/2019 10:48

My last day will be the 9th August, then I’ll take two weeks annual leave and start maternity on the 27th (with my due date being the 31st).

I work from home so think I’ll be ok working until then. Feels like it’s coming around quickly!

Lavellan · 14/05/2019 11:20

Does anyone feel some pressure around when to take maternity leave? People seem to expect and encourage me to work closer to due date. I feel like I'm missing something that they know and I don't??

I work in a school so if I take it from the start of the year I come back exactly a year later right? If I work another week or two it just means coming back after term starts, what's the point? Is it just to eek out more time with baby?

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 14/05/2019 11:29

@Lavellan the teachers that I know “go back” to work at end of the following summer term - so you’d start mat leave say 1 sept and technically start back end July. So you get paid the 6 weeks of summer.

As you only get 39 weeks of SMP (but can be off legally for 52), the extra 6 weeks of pay is most welcome I imagine!

kyles101 · 14/05/2019 11:39

@Lavellan YES!! Everyone has an opinion and I honestly don't know how I'll feel as I've never been pregnant before... much less 9 months in the height of summer... my return date will be 1st July regardless of when I go (within reason so long as I go after 30th June! So max 1 year)

We've had the first lot of cvs in for my cover so I guess I just can't really plan until we decide who it will be, then when they can start and ultimately how quick the handover can be... I'm assuming we'll need around 4 weeks and so hope to go sometime between 5th and 16th August... it's a bit of a pain not being able to plan (and count down 😉) and I imagine it will be more frustrating the closer we get but fingers crossed we can interview in the next couple of weeks and make a decision...

Dyra · 14/05/2019 12:13

I'm hoping to have my last day on the 30th August. 3 weeks annual leave and then mat leave from my due date (25th September).

I've been slacking though. I need to read up on my trust's policies though. Annual leave for us resets in April. I have a few days leave extra still to take, and I'm planning on taking at least a year off, so it will reset before I have a chance to take it. So do I take it now? Include it as part of my leave? What if I decide not to return?

GemmaJen · 14/05/2019 12:18

I'm working up to my due date, just sent in my form to HR today. It's starting to feel real! Looking forward to it now 😊

Karigan195 · 14/05/2019 12:22

Last time I worked up to due date and ended up being suddenly induced due to high blood pressure and all sorts.

This time I’m not sure what to do as boss is saying I can work from home for last few weeks but I do need to use up some annual leave anyway.

I think I'm going to start mat leave on 2nd August when I'll be 34 weeks. I think any layer than that and I might be risking being very uncomfortable/ going into labour at work. I figure I can always bring it forwards if I'm struggling. Then possible csection around 36-37 weeks. I'm finding it a bit confusing as I need to make a decision now but haven't actually had any info or advice from a consultant yet!
