@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops glad the scan was all ok

@barberstreisand Noah is a lovely name

We’ve agreed on a first name for our boy, I have a middle name I want to use but I have to convince DH cos he doesn’t love it at the moment.

challengeyourreality · 03/05/2019 19:39

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops love the idea of Kinder, never heard of it.
We are trying out names all the time, I've got a good list of about 5 serious options but slowly seem to be warming to 2.
@Megan2018 Felicity is beautiful, I would absolutely choose this name was my son not called Felix.
@IVEgottheDECAF do you have a name theme going on? My SIL has 4 girls and her thing with names was that they should all begin and end with a different letter; so they have an -A, -E, -Y and -S ending.

Whisky2014 · 03/05/2019 19:49

Love Felicity! We have chosen Arthur. After my husbands grandad and also I had a relative with the same name who has now passed but was lovely so I'm happy with the name. Really hoping the royal baby isn't named Arthur!

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/05/2019 19:50

With each child we have never agreed on a name either of us have LOVED. We have settled on one we both though was ok.

This time we have a shortlist of three names we both like. Again i didnt like any he loved and he didnt like any i loved

I dont think its the end of the world if you dont love the name.. you love your baby and the name becomes them!

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/05/2019 19:55

We dont have a theme but none of our current four and none on the current shortlist start with the same letter, they also all end with a different sound although two are the same letter. None were top 20 in the year they were born although my almost 10 year olds name has now crept up to within the top 20. They are all the only child with their name in their class at school / nursery.

boodles101 · 03/05/2019 20:15

I think we have chosen first names for our 2. We pretty much stepped out of the hospital and said so shall we go with... We are both happy with them but I've just said not to get set on them as we still have a while and might change our minds. I have picked middle name for the girl and have agreed that DH can chose boys middle name, although I may regret that when he finally chooses!

TheCraicDealer · 03/05/2019 20:20

We have two names we both like equally and can't pick between. Just going to wait until she pops out and see what we think she looks more like! I also like Imogen and Petra, but they're being kept for potential DD2. This one though will have MIL's name as a middle name, Elizabeth.

We're lucky she's a girl as with boys names we couldn't find any we both really liked apart from George which is mega popular and, randomly, Ralph, which I wasn't 100% on. My old boss was called Dawson which I would love to use, but he was a bit of a marmite character in our industry and most people would assume I'd picked it to honour him. Which would be weird.

Got a very cool changing mat with toucans on it for downstairs from TK Maxx for £8- can't be arsed rooting through the clothes but they're good for baby stuff. Clevamama are redoing their branding so they have a lot shipped out to TK Maxx at the moment. I got one of their apron towels reduced from £20 to £9. Going to have nothing left on my amazon wish list at this rate 😂

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/05/2019 20:28

I need a changing mat for dc4, ours has started falling apart this week!

Dp liked the name George but i wont use due to popularity! Glad i am not the only one who feels like that thecraic

barberstreisand · 03/05/2019 20:54

If it went with our last name I’d love to use George, it just sound good with our name

Whisky2014 · 03/05/2019 21:03

Found this which I think it quite good. Some different advice than nappy lady. Not using oils for example www.kidalog.com/pages/Top-10-Mistakes-People-Make-When-Using-Cloth-Diapers.html

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/05/2019 06:02

Morning all

Anyone else feel like giving up and taking mat leave at 29 weeks Blush

22+2

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/05/2019 06:08

Oh and did someone on here buy a Cybex Balios S? If so are you happy with it? Did you get the carrycot?

GemmaJen · 04/05/2019 06:23

@IVEgottheDECAF we're planning on getting the Balios s denim, but waiting for the next mothercare event for a discount. My sister has last year's version and loves it. It has a slightly tricky fold - once you're got the knack it's one of the easiest out there, but there is a learning curve, lol. I think my sister has the carrycot, don't think we're going to bother, we're in and out of the car much more here, so have got a lay flat car seat instead.

I've ballooned this week, feel so big. Little ones kicks feel so much further away, been trying not to worry, as they're still there and as frequently, but feel like they're behind a pillow or something 🤷

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/05/2019 06:25

gemma mothercare have 10% off this weekend, do you think there will be a bigger discount at some point? Have you seen if they do a matching footmuff? All i can see is some kind of newborn cocoon?

MyHomey · 04/05/2019 06:30

Is anyone doing hypnobirthing...?

GemmaJen · 04/05/2019 06:55

@IVEgottheDECAF I don't think they offer better than 10% I think that's also what you get if you order at one of their baby events - the dates for the next events have just come out for early June. Hoping to purchase in store as I have a store discount card, but don't know if the mayday sale is in stores too? I have the Balios brochure and it doesn't look like they do a matching denim footmuff, just plain colours. I'm in love with the Mamas and papas floral grey footmuff so may just go for that and the matching seat liner anyway. The cocoon is for up to 6 months instead of a carrycot. But it does lie flat for a newborn without any added extras, just possibly less support for the really early days. There's s couple of balios s carrycots on eBay in pretty much new condition, though in last year's colours if you're on the fence about a carrycot use vs price.

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/05/2019 07:00

I would definitely have a carrycot. We dont drive and i use a carrycot for all downstairs sleeping.

Do you know if the 2019 models with the black chasis have foam handles? I think i prefer the black chasis but dont want foam lol

GemmaJen · 04/05/2019 07:04

@IVEgottheDECAF yes they have the foam handle in last year's colours. The denim comes in black too though, just not via mothercare. It's 10% off at the baby room at the moment - www.thebabyroom.co.uk/Cybex-Balios-S-Stroller-Denim-Edition-2019?fv=14849 and there is a code for an extra £20 off as well SAVE20MVC if I didn't have the store card for mothercare, I'd probably already have bought from The baby room, I prefer the blue denim to the grey.

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/05/2019 07:08

Sorry its the black chassis i preferred not the fabric!

GemmaJen · 04/05/2019 07:11

Ah, sorry, yes the 2018 black chassis had the foam handle. I think some people have covered it with a leather cover - from reading reviews, but I don't know where you'd find that accessory.

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/05/2019 07:18

I just found covers on Etsy! About £40.

How do you / your sister find the pram height wise? I am only short and see the seat unit advertised as being in a high position. Concerned i wont be able to see over it haha

GemmaJen · 04/05/2019 07:29

We're both tall, but I don't think it's excessively high - similar to most other prams like the ocarro, the handlebar adjusts really easily. Some mothercare stores have a model on display - the dimensions between the 2019 and 2018 models are the same. I know the solihull store does, I just rang around till I found one that did as I wanted to compare it directly to some of the others in-store.

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/05/2019 07:34

Think i might need to do that! I wish i could just choose a pram!

Whisky2014 · 04/05/2019 09:14

Oooh good to know about mothercare discount this weekend. I'm heading there this afternoon before I go see rock of ages in Edinburgh! Hopefully get a cotbed.
Re. Pocket nappies....do you always use an insert or can you use as is?

Megan2018 · 04/05/2019 09:44

@Whisky2014 pockets always need an insert, there is no absorbency in the lining.
