Is anyone else due in Jan 2020? My dates are a bit iffy 🤣 but I’m either due 30/12 or 2/1. Baby number 4 ( I swear we were stopping at 1). 🤣

How do you go about getting your booking appointments via gp or do you contact midwifes directly?

mynameisMrG · 09/05/2019 20:40

I have to go via my gp but it depends on the area you live in. Might be worth calling your gp and they can advise

Evening all ... minor freak out my end ... I've got brown bloody in my knickers! I'm almost 5 weeks, so I'm hoping it's just implantation bleeding as I have had the cramps too ... I'm a bit worried it's not though - I've been lifting boxes and things this eve as we move houses tomorrow, but I just stuck to the light ones. But freaking out a bit that it's caused a problem.

Anyone that's had a bit of blood.... when did you have it? What colour was it? And what did it look like? X

Seahawk80 · 09/05/2019 20:58

@Avocuddles I've just booked one for 1st June 😊

@splishandsplash I agree with the others, most boring appt ever and they prefer you not to bring partner as they ask about domestic violence. They also ask you if he is the father 🤣

Seahawk80 · 09/05/2019 21:00

@KMic I had that when pregnant with my son from about 5 weeks. It's started like that and mine went on for weeks on and off but all was fine. Most people just have a little bit of brown blood for implantation bleeding. Brown blood is old blood and not a worry normally x

KMic · 09/05/2019 21:07

Thanks @Seahawk80 ... that's what I'm hoping ... and this is more like brown discharge rather than blood blood ... we're in the midst of moving house so it's hard to totally avoid any lifting etc! 🙈 really worried something is going to happen x

DaisyMay25 · 09/05/2019 21:38

@KMic brown blood is old blood, a lot of us have had an increase in discharge and if that's the case for you it might just be that and flushed the old blood out with it (sorry for the tmi haha)
Also don't worry about the lifting stuff, it's been proven it won't do any damage 😊

Avocuddles · 09/05/2019 22:14

Hope everything is ok @KMic.

@Seahawk80 and @MrsM18 hopefully June will kick off with a weekend full of lovely healthy scan photos!

Hi All! Can I join? Found out I was pregnant on Monday and reckon I’m 5+2. Can’t quite believe it really on the basis of my previous history and age (45).

This will be DC2. DC1 is 3, but took 3 years to conceive with one round of IVF followed by 4 attempts of frozen embryo transfer. Technically the IVF worked first time but it was 15 months between getting embryos and finally having them replaced due to endometrial polyps and fibroids.

This pregnancy is natural, hence my surprise. I always suspected it might be possible to get pregnant again as we were unexplained infertility but didn’t hold out much hope of it happening.

So those who are here after assisted conception, I totally understand what you’re going through. Sorry to everyone who have had previous losses and are super nervous.

Symptoms seemed to have died down in the last few days so beginning to wonder if I’m still pregnant. May have to splash out on a digi to convince myself again!

KMic · 10/05/2019 05:30

Thanks @Avocuddles and @DaisyMay25 ... no more blood overnight so hopefully it was just a bit or a clear out x

KMic · 10/05/2019 05:30

Huge congrats @Gillster xx

Seahawk80 · 10/05/2019 05:55

Congratulations @Gillster what a lovely surprise!

leclarke91 · 10/05/2019 06:09

Welcome and congratulations @Gillster I bet that was such a lovely surprise for you all!

leclarke91 · 10/05/2019 06:28

@KMic I had the exact same thing 5 days ago. It was brown and I had cramping too. It passed within 2 days. I spoke to 3 different midwives who all said it's nothing to worry about unless I were to experience heavy bleeding and severe cramping. Brown blood means it's old blood left over from something. And the cramping is likely the uterus stretching. I was about 5 weeks when that happened to me x

KMic · 10/05/2019 07:04

Ooo thanks @leclarke91 ... such a relief to hear x

Bentley111 · 10/05/2019 07:59

Huge congrats @Gillster what a wonderful surprise xx

Avocuddles · 10/05/2019 08:16

@gillster congratulations and what a great story! We were about to start fertility treatment for unexplained infertility when I found I was pregnant, seems as if it was when I took the pressure off myself that the magic happened!

@KMic glad the bleeding has stopped. I saw my GP this morning and she told me to not to worry if I have that kind of bleed as it's perfectly normal in early pregnancy. My initial midwife appointment is now in the diary for May 30th but the GP has sent me a referral to the hospital already as I have a history of blood clots which means I will need to be monitored as high risk, and probably had daily blood thinning injections as things progress.

Glad it's almost the weekend, I'm ready for a rest!

Seahawk80 · 10/05/2019 08:43

I'm having horrible cramps like period pain today, making me a bit nervous but just trying to remember it's all normal.

DH about to go off to Japan for 2 weeks with work so I'm going to go and stay with my mum and get spoilt for a few days!

McHelenz · 10/05/2019 08:54

I don't know if I'm getting more sensitive to smells. All I can smell in the kitchen and keep getting flashes in the lounge is our cat. I usually dont notice him!

BowiesJumper · 10/05/2019 09:34

You definitely get more sensitive to smells in pregnancy! It's a curse on the tube in the summer...

My dad drove me to my booking in last time and sat in the waiting room and the midwife thought he was my husband, THE HORROR! Grin
But yeah it's just them asking a load of questions, no need for your partner to be there at all, v boring.

BowiesJumper · 10/05/2019 09:38

Congratulations @Gillster ! How exciting.

Hope you're ok @Seahawk80 x

Chantalle3 · 10/05/2019 10:03

Congratulations @Gillster!

Seahawk80 · 10/05/2019 11:50

Thanks @BowiesJumper , cramps have calmed down now and no sign of blood. I think I'm just a bit on edge as with DS I'd started bleeding by now and I kind of expect it to happen again but no reason why it should!

CatRash · 10/05/2019 13:16

Hope you're feeling ok now @Seahawk80. Think I might have had a tiny bit of spotting today and feel a bit under the weather like I'm coming down with something. At least it's the weekend.
