Is anyone else due in Jan 2020? My dates are a bit iffy 🤣 but I’m either due 30/12 or 2/1. Baby number 4 ( I swear we were stopping at 1). 🤣

@Maybenextmonth so so sorry to hear this keeping everything crossed all is ok.

@DaisyMay25 what a lovely scan I've never seen an early one before

KMic · 09/05/2019 12:26

Welcome @SaffRW ... and congrats! Most people with early scans will be private ones - to get an early NHS scan you have to either of had problems with pregnancy before or be having serious cramps / bleeding etc. (And even then they use it as a last resort. So if you just want reassurance, it will have to be a private jobby.

@Anon120 how far gone are you? Symotoms are less likely before 7-8 weeks when they do tend to up a gear for a few weeks, so if you're not getting any just enjoy it! Trust me when I say that having symptoms does not mean everything is ok, so just as that is the case, not having any is defo not a sign that there is a problem :) Hope that puts you at ease a bit.

It's definitely a stressful time, and great to have people on forums like this to chat to!! :) x

Bunnylover84 · 09/05/2019 12:32

@bowiesjumper haha! Sounds like a party! Thanks for reassurance. Always good to know what to expect.
@bentley111 thanks for reassurance. Understand why you don’t want to get a scan too early this time, but remember this is a different pregnancy and fingers crossed this one’s a sticky bean!! Thinking of you in this time of waiting!

SaffRW · 09/05/2019 12:51

@glittergirl2 Thanks that’s really reassuring to hear. Hopefully I will get some information soon and an appt date. Xx

SaffRW · 09/05/2019 12:54

@KMIc I saw on my local hospital website they offer quite a range of private scans etc so once I hear from a midwife and know timescales for that I may consider doing private as well. Thanks for your advice.

Bentley111 · 09/05/2019 13:35

@Bunnylover84 thank you 😘 it's so hard not to feel so anxious isn't it?

Seahawk80 · 09/05/2019 13:38

@Maybenextmonth so sorry. Hope you manage to at least have a relaxing time and look after yourself for the rest of your holiday Thanks

Seahawk80 · 09/05/2019 13:41

@Bunnylover84 welcome to the world of dildocam 😂

@SaffRW welcome and congratulations! My hospital has a swanky private place on Harley street where you can go for private scans. It's was lovely. We went last time for DS but this time around I've booked a special offer somewhere in Croydon! Poor second child already not getting the best! It's nice to have an early scan for reassurance for your first if you can justify the cash.

Bunnylover84 · 09/05/2019 13:50

@Bentley111 That’s okay, it is so hard not to be anxious. All we can do is take things a day at a time but it would be great to go forward in time and know everything is gonna be okay wouldn’t it!
@seahawk80 haha dildocam love it!!

Seahawk80 · 09/05/2019 14:01

@Bunnylover84 I had loads for f scans with DS as I basically started bleeding the day after my bfp and it went on for ages. I fed don't think any of the scans made any difference to the spotting and it was reassuring to know that things all looked ok. Hoping that this little bean is a bit less high maintenance!

Seahawk80 · 09/05/2019 14:01

loads of early scans

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 09/05/2019 15:23

This is my second pregnancy and I think it's going to be so much like my first! My first was awful I ended up with HG and was off work most of the time and I was fainting!

Today at 5 weeks I nearly fainted again! Luckily I know the symptoms of when it's going to happen so I managed to sit down in time! 🙈

Anon120 · 09/05/2019 15:27

@KMic I'm only about 5/6 weeks gone at the moment so still early! Just thought it was weird as I had quite strong surges of nausea that just disappeared after a few days. I think I'm also panicking a bit as my boyfriends just been told his job is at risk in the next few months of being cut. Trying not to stress out too much as know it does no good but kind of am!!

Anyway congrats everyone & so glad we're all in this together x

DaisyMay25 · 09/05/2019 15:38

Thanks everyone, delighted but doesn't stop the worrying!

@Bunnylover84 I've had so many of these because of ivf, it's an internal exam (the dildo cam) she just looked around a bit to see if there's was anything that should t the there then went through everything she saw with me. I'm not sure if an EPU are as informative though they might just say it looks fine. It's painless and fairly quick though 😊

DaisyMay25 · 09/05/2019 15:39

@Bunnylover84 also I've never spotted with these and they won't harm your baby 😊

cookielove · 09/05/2019 17:23

I think i will have an early scan

As i have had 4 misscarriages

Avocuddles · 09/05/2019 18:26

Evening everyone and hello to the newbies!

@DaisyMay25 so exciting to see your scan! I've just booked an early scan for 2nd June - based on my LMP is 10 weeks then but based on my long cycles I think I will actually be about 8. We're visiting family that week and there's no way I'd be able to cover it up so hoping for a healthy one and some exciting news to share with both sets of parents.

Still no symptoms here other than the odd cramp....

mynameisMrG · 09/05/2019 18:40

Well I’ve just been asleep on the sofa for the last two hours. Forgot how tired you get when pregnant

DaisyMay25 · 09/05/2019 18:49

@Avocuddles even if it's 8 weeks you should be able to see a great deal! We saw a lot more than I thought today, was crazy!

@mynameisMrG the tiredness is crazy! I usually want to nap about three hours after I get up....

splishandsplash · 09/05/2019 18:56

Help!
Got my booking appointment with my midwife and I'm confused... I'm a first time pregnancy.. so I'll have loads of questions. But do you take your other half to this appointment?

mynameisMrG · 09/05/2019 18:59

I never have @splishandsplash. It’s a fairly routine appointment where they ask you a load of family history questions and fill in your green book. If memory serves me right they ask you about domestic violence so if you do take your other half they have to leave the room for a couple of those questions. It’s a bit of a dull appointment really. Worth asking your DP about his immediate family history of illness though

McHelenz · 09/05/2019 20:19

@splishandsplash my first pregnancy too. OH has asked to come to the booking in appt even after I warned him it'll be really boring! Guess I can't complain him wanting to be involved!

MrsM18 · 09/05/2019 20:27

@Avocuddles ours is also on the 2nd June ☺️

CatRash · 09/05/2019 20:29

@Splishandsplash I didn't take DH to my last one and he won't be coming to this one either. Just boring form filling really. My DH only ever came to the scans and hospital for BP monitoring (because they wouldn't let me drive).

MrsM18 · 09/05/2019 20:38

My DH came to absolutely everything the first time round, every little appointment. I've now come to realise it's not necessary at all 😂 He'll come along to the scans x
