Hi alice we live in swindon which is a complete mess atm. The new schools seem to be leaking, streams have burst their banks...

I know redaing and the surrounding area well as My dad was born there, as were my brothers and I went to uni there (those were the days...)

alicet · 20/07/2007 19:33

Greedy - just posted on your name thread! Try not to get too influenced by what everyone says though - probably don't know most of the people commenting anyway and its what you like that counts!

alicet · 20/07/2007 19:58

Just hope he manages to get back safely muppet. It sounds like a complete nightmare! Hope you're not too worried..

MrsFish · 20/07/2007 20:19

Greed - which was your preference?

Seems like Seren and Eden are the faves

muppetgirl · 20/07/2007 20:31

My dad has picked him up!!
He should be home soon

greedygreedyguzzler · 20/07/2007 20:34

i REALLY like seren cos my dh and all his family are welsh, and my mum and all her family are welsh too and it means star in welsh, but a friend of a friend called her little gilr seren and that has put me off. (and ejt told me it was getting really common in wales!!!)

nobody seems to like Raya, but my dh suggested it on our honeymoon cos we were in thailand staying in a resort called 'rayavadee' and APPARENTLY the raya bit meant 'princess' in thai!!! it made me cry when he said " if our first child is a girl can we call her Raya?" cos we had never REALLY discussed kids much before then!!!

reckon i will end up calling her something REALLY boring!!! has to go with Ellis and Kiki though, cos they are my other two!!!

sorry for being me me me..........what can i say?......i am a self-obsessed cow!! (nothing compared to chalrey in BB though!!!!!!)

greedygreedyguzzler · 20/07/2007 20:35

glad you will ahve your dh home muppet!!!

muppetgirl · 21/07/2007 09:43

Morning all,
Dad arrived with dh at twnet to ten last night -9 1/2 hours after he set off from london!!

Swindon was really difficult to get into as a lot of the roads are closed so today we are going to start sorting out the baby's room rather than venture out anywhere!

Hope all are well, big hugs still to Lisa and Buffy

FloriaTosca · 21/07/2007 09:57

Good morning all!
WEt and windy again today but our river hasnt risen significantly so I know we arent in any danger.
I was in a foul temper last night so didnt come on here...it was started by a number of things; first one of the plumbers couldnt be bothered to ask for a ladder and used one of my gt-gt-grandfathers upholstered dining chairs (tucked away in a corner of our bedroom for safety) to climb up into the loft from!!! I was livid! Which set me up for being in a bad mood while Dh and all his mates got paralytic wetting the new babys head...not helped by the fact that Dh announced to all present that we were having an amnio in 10 days and why (most of our circle didn't know about my problems..and I certainly didnt want them to know) and several of them seemed to think that their instant alchohol soaked reactions were more worthy than the 5 years of constantly agonising over the moral dilemmas/choices that we have suffered topped off by the fact that they were so p**ed that it took me 2 hours to herd them into the car (finally achieved at 2am) then they decided to have a farting competition on the way home (me being designated driver of course)and drunkenly tried tell me which way to drive home..(they were so close to being dumped out of the car in the middle of nowhere in the pouring rain!)..and the cherry on the cake was Dh got through the front door announced that he felt ill and needed his bed "NOW" so left me to deal with the over excited dog amongst all the debris of the plumbers, the remains of dinner (we had had to leave in a hurry and he had promised to clear up when we got back because the water would be turned off in the morning!) and close to tears of sheer temper to find a note from the plumbers saying that they would be with us at 7.30am!!!!
Sorry to rant but I'm still somewhat cross. Dh is all appologetic this morning and has taken the dog for a long walk...leaving me to make coffee and bacon butties for the plumbers!... but if they use that chair as a step with their hobnailed boots again I'll swing for them I swear!

FloriaTosca · 21/07/2007 10:02

Glad you got your Dh home last night... at the 9 1/2 hr journey though! Hope you got a good lie in this morning

ejt1764 · 21/07/2007 11:44

Just sneaking for a quick ?check of my emails? ?

Alice ? the analgesia pathway is specifically for 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy ? and has been developed by the obstetric anaesthetics team at UHW ? am now taking the cocodamol, and, while it?s making me feel really nauseous, I?m not actually throwing it up (although I am back to throwing up big style in the early mornings) ? surely it?s not fair to have indigestion and ms?

Greedy ? the name Seren is quite common in young children here ? but that doesn?t mean that you shouldn?t call your daughter that! Raya is a lovely name though!

Unusual names are all very well ? I have an incredibly unusual name myself ? and have only ever met 1 other person with the same 1st name as me (we sing in the same choir - and have the same surname which is incredibly confusing as we?re both altos!) ? but I spend my entire life (it seems ) either repeating it, or spelling it! There?s a lot to be said for names that are not that unusual!

Muppetgirl ? so glad you got dh back ? but at 9 ½ hour journey!

FT ? I bet you could have killed dh for his beery discussions ? I hope he?s appropriately sheepish this morning! Let him deal with the plumbers ? have you told them that you expect them to repair / clean the chair?

Right, that?s me done for the next few days ? I shall ask for a synopsis when I get back!

dal21 · 21/07/2007 15:29

lisad123 · 21/07/2007 17:03

Hello all

Thanks for the messages. Well hmmm, yes things kinda went a little wrong.

I had GTT, which took 3 hours in the end, and went home feeling very rough. Ate my lunch thinking it would make me feel better. Had a sleep. Woke up feeling even worse

I had been having side pains for a few weeks thought it was linked to SPD. Major pains in my side, doubled over, feeling very unwell so rang MU and asked for advice, i was asked to come in. Temp was up, heart rate up, protein and Lucos in water. Dr suggested kindey stone or major water infection which had spread to kindeys Kept in as showing a few contractions, nothing too regular and concerns about prem labour. IV put in, bllods taken, my markers were raised (no idea what that meant)
Was meant to be home yeaterday but started being sick and couldnt keep anything down. I got home an hour ago, with strict instructions to rest and return if keep being sick, pain gets worse, lose anymore water

Fingers crossed she stays put for a while longer.

Hope your all well.

Hugs

Lisa

I am now out but with strict in

PolarMummy · 21/07/2007 23:12

Hi Lisa, glad to hear that you are home, and I hope that you are feeling a bit better. Sending hugs to you.

FT I hope your day improved as it went along and that your DH looked after you for the rest of the day. I would have been as well and I am sure it is the last thing you needed to be discussing in the pub!

Hello to everyone else hope you are all keeping well and that you have had a nice Saturday.

Well I finally started gettings organised for this baby and ordered the cot and the pram / buggy system

alicet · 22/07/2007 09:09

Hi all!

Never got a chance to come on here yesterday - not that busy but one of those days where there is always something to do then we had friends over for dinner in the evening...

Muppet glad your dh finally got home!

Floria - hope your dh was suitably repentant yesterday! My dh is always quite amusing when he's drunk but I can relate to a lot of what your saying and not much would be amusing at 2am at the mo!!!!

Good luck greedy deciding on a name...

Hello to everyone else! Ds shouting so better go see what the matter is....

alicet · 22/07/2007 09:11

Oh most importantly lisa glad you're home and feeling better. Fingers crossed that it all settles down soon and lo is OK too...

lisad123 · 22/07/2007 10:37

Thank alicet and polar. the drugs they have given me make me feel very unwell, and lightheaded. Im sleeping lots right now and still in a lot of pain, hoping to feel better soon.
I look like a watercan I have so many holes from lines, and blood tests

Why do they always send the doc that cant find vein to put in ther line??
Hoping i dont have to go back anytime soon.

L

Pheebe · 22/07/2007 10:45

Morning everyone, I'm back

I can see you've all been busy!!! Hope eveyones OK. Lisa - sorry you're not well but glad you're home.

Had a great holiday, cottage was lovely, we were busy everyday and even made it to the beach twice !! No one wanted to come home but its a good job we did...

Got a huge pain in my ribs on my right side on friday night which spread right across the top of my bump and lasted a couple of hours. Went off to hospital to be told that even though they took my gall bladder out last year I might have another stone in the tubes that are left Can't believe it!!! They took bloods to check my liver function and should get the results tomorow. No idea what will happen if they're abnormal. Am worried sick how its going to affect the baby. He's fine at the mo, moving and growing as he should thank goodness. Although the op itself was fine all the tests and the camera down the throat thingy and the complications I had from it last time were horrific and I really don't know if I can go through all that again. DH is trying to be positive and saying it could still be muscle or scar tissue thats getting squished as bub is growing but deep down I just know its another stone

Sorry to come back on and have a big moan but am sh*ing myself at the moment.

alicet · 22/07/2007 11:39

Pheebe pleased to hear you had a great holiday but sorry to what you've come home to...

Just to try and reassure you you can have problems associated with the gallbladder and associated plumbing as a result of pregnancy as well - its not necessarily another stone. And that if you had the camera down the throat thingy last time before they took your gallbladder out its unlikely (but not impossible) that you have a stone in the tubes as the purpose of that procedure is to ensure there aren't any before they take the gallbladder out.

Thinking of you with fingers crossed....

Pheebe · 22/07/2007 12:37

Thanks Alice

I'm hoping its just the clips I can feel...fingers crossed anyway

FloriaTosca · 22/07/2007 12:56

Hi All
Lisa; so very sorry for the pain and worry, and dearly hope you feel better soon.

Pheebe; glad you had a lovely holiday but terribly sorry abot the pain...thank goodness we have Alice here to reassure us..I can understand your fear of it being another stone, I've been there, felt that, never ever want to feel anything so bad again, you have al my sympathy and hopes that it isnt as bad as it feels.

Dh was suitably shame faced yesterday, but not enough to abstain from the beer at his cousins (washed out)house warming bbq yesterday...so despite being bone tired I was stuck with driving yet again. Good news is that we now have hot water again...plumbers just about finished an hour ago (but have to come back because the main bathroom was plumbed to the old hot water system (so it was warm in summer when the central heating was off)which has now been removed ...we have friends coming for dinner tonight to I'd better get off and clean the house up after all the upheaval
Have a good day everyone!

ps LO is seriously kicking for britain today...perhaps a future GB rugby fly half? J20 I can now understand how yours has given you bruises! I've put my black an blue tum down to the heparin injections so far, it look like they are going to be added to.

alicet · 22/07/2007 12:58

Never heard of anyone having problems with the clips like this - sorry Pheebe!

Try not to worry too much - you will get your results tomorrow and hopefully that will put your mind at reast. And hopefully your pain will settle more importantly.

Are they going to scan you as well if they seriously suspect you have stones in the ducts?

alicet · 22/07/2007 13:01

cross posted Floria - glad to hear the hot water is back on! And that dh was suitably repentant! At least it gives you the excuse you need when you go out for the first time after having your baby and are p*ssed on 2 glasses of wine due to a combination of tiredness and alcohol intolerance!!!

I have been designated driver for about 7 weddings when I was pregnant with ds1 and about 5 this year - when we went to one last year and we needed to drive dh actually suggested we should flip a coin!!! To whihc he got the response 'Er - I don't think so!!!'. To be fair he did conceed he was being unreasonable but that he thought it was worth a try!!!

Pheebe · 22/07/2007 13:03

Alice, yep if bloods are abnormal I'll go up for an ultrasound.
