Silk - that's very sad news

Anna - amazing pics

Jet- yay the summer is here. Hope you got better sleep last night. Heartburn eh - bring on the Gaviscon.

SPG cramps sound rubbish.

Right back to work then I can hang up my red pen for five whole weeks ( don't worry - I'm not missing out on a weeks holiday: we get two weeks at half term)

Silkcushion- so sorry tohear about your colleague.

Jetgirl- I do supply work at a unit for boys with behavioural difficulties and they have said they can't have me there due to me being pg- which i knew anyway but the H and S implications are too severe.

Your employer, and everyone's has a duty of care to you adn the baby.

I also think they're pretty crap not giving you your time table yet. We always had ours before the end of term

FCH · 20/07/2007 09:43

Silkcushion - a similar thing happened to me 2 years ago when one of my office staff was assaulted on a night out and died of the head injury caused when he hit the pavement. I was in absolute pieces (crying my eyes out in my bosses office) and was not pregnant - so you are not being hormonal you are being a normal human being. (lots of other people were equally gutted - men and women, so it isn't a girl thing either) This is so horrid for you The fact that I want to have a cry about your team member, who I have never met, is probably hormonal!

Sparkly - Poor you - how awful. I woke up with calf cramps today but at least it was already almost time to get up. Hurts though doesn't it? Is there anything you can do about it?

RGPargy · 20/07/2007 10:36

Aren't cramps due to a lack of salt or potassium on your diet? Perhaps you could try and eat some crisps or something. Any excuse to eat rubbish, eh??

Hope they get better soon and i hope you all sleep better soon! I think the baby is playing trampoline on my bladder again as last night i was up at least 3 times for the loo and this morning i feel pressure on my bladder and it feels like i'm busting but when i go, hardly anything comes out!

Only 6 days to go before my scan ladies!!! So excited!! DP has decided he 100% wants to know the sex now too!! Yayness!!

jetgirl · 20/07/2007 12:00

Anna - your pics are amazing, I bet you spend loads of timelooking at them ,I know I would!

Pixie - that's very interesting, I shall follow up with HR directly I think just to check what they say. Then approach the appropriate people at work - if they're there of course.

Littleoldme - we all slept through last night - hooray! Was esp good for me as I had a 2 hour driving lesson this morning and needed to be relatively with it. Still nearly cried during it just because I am hormonal and don't take criticism very well at the mo. It wasn't even severe criticism, just pointing out the bloody obvious.

Who else is totally fed up with this weather? I had plans for picnics and lovely walks and they've been scuppered. It's not fair, it's July fgs!

Hi everyone, have not been on here for ages though i'd come on see how everyone is doing. Glad to hear most of us are doing well sorry about the bad news some of you are going through. Am also really fed up of the weather at the moment especially with trying to entertain ds who is 2 and loves the out doors!! Am loving this part of the pregnancy only 15 wks until due date. My bump is coming on nicely and am loving feeling all the kicks and movements. Am very tired though more so this time than last time I was pg thinking it's because I do have ds dh house to look after as well as working 3 evenings, also we do need sunshine to help us get more energy and feel vitalised! come on summmer!!.xxx

RGPargy · 20/07/2007 15:28

Hi pinklady! Glad to hear you are doing well, albeit for the tiredness!

geekInPigtails · 20/07/2007 18:46

It's interesting hearing how often people have seen medics so far. Up until now I've seen
GP at 6 weeks
Midwife at 9+5
Scan at 12+1
Midwife at 12+5 and 16+5
Scan at 21+1
Midwife at 21+5
And I'll be seeing her again at 26+5 (two weeks yesterday). Which seemed quite reasonable to me, and the larger gaps between appointments have felt like AGES, but compared with some of you I seem to have had loads! Basically, at the end of each midwife appointment she says something like "and we'll see you again in about 4 weeks", but it's up to me to remember when that's getting close and book an appointment - I'm sure that if I didn't, nobody would be phoning me up to find out what was wrong.

Sorry some of you are having much trouble sleeping. I'm starting to find it a bit more difficult too. I'm a bit of an insomniac normally, but from about 6 weeks into the pregnancy until very recently, I had ONE bad nights sleep - could sleep like a log for at least 10 hours generally! My body was obviously (for once) being clever and actually acting on the fact that I need more sleep right now. The past week or so haven't been quite as good, partly because we had a few warm muggy nights, and partly coz baby has taken to kicking me in awkward places when i'm trying to sleep (pesky little darling )

I'm actually slightly enjoying all the rain recently, because it means DH can't play cricket all Saturday, so we get more stuff done with the house

Loopy - that's nice for you, i love having loads of washing on the line, it makes me feel like I've done loads of housework! My brother lives in Plymouth, lovely area of the country, we had our summer holiday there last year.

Hi geekinpigtails, I'm interested to see how many appts you've had seeing as we're in the same place. Mine are as follows:
Gp - 6 weeks
MW - 9+5
scan - 15+1
MW - 16+4
scan - 20+1
next MW appt is on Friday, I'll be 24+5.

I'm jealous you got the 12 week scan at 12 weeks, I missed out on the NT test because mine was so late, and they implied it was my fault! I think you get fewer appts if you've had a baby before so mine have really felt few and far between this time. I have the same MW though and she's fantastic.

Just like Loopy I am awaiting Harry Potter, kind Mr Amazon is bringing it to me so I don't even have to leave the house

AnnainNZ · 20/07/2007 21:12

I'll be getting the new H Potter too (11am release here), have managed to avoid reading any spoilers but have a feeling I will be tempted to skip to the end to find out what happens...terrible cheating really.

I've seen my GP every 4 weeks for this pg plus scans at 12 and 20 wks (and the extra one a week later). Over here you have a LMC (Lead Maternity Carer), one person you see throughout the whole pg who also (hopefully) delivers the baby. Only go to hospital/clinic during pg if there are complications. Nearly everyone has a community-based midwife asw their LMC but a very small number of GP's do it and my GP is one of them. Which is quite nice as I've known her 5 years and she's very committed to providing good care for pg women (she has 6 kids of her own!) I think the visits increase to every 2 weeks soon, then every week later on.

AnnainNZ · 20/07/2007 21:14

Oh and i meant to say to Sparklygothkat, a friend of mine got terrible leg cramps from 20 wks onwards and she reckoned drinking a glass of tonic water before bed helped. I've also heard eatign bananans can help which would make sense if it is a lack of potassium as I think bananas are very high in potassium

RGPargy · 20/07/2007 22:32

Substituting salt for Lo-Salt can also help with potassium deficiency as it's made nearly all from potassium.

silkcushion · 21/07/2007 00:21

Some positive news re my colleague. Her dad rang me earlier - she has got through the first emergency surgery and regained consciousness. Also talked to other team members today and discovered they were all very upset too (men and women). She will still need several more operations but at least it looks like she'll live. I'm so relieved.

FCH - I'm sorry about yr colleague. it is truely shocking isn't it?

Weather - Didn't really take my DH's lunchtime phone call seriously when he said we both needed to head home from work before the floods hit! I should have left earlier. It has taken me 5 hours to get home tonight (30 min journey). Twice I had to beg strangers to let me have a wee in non public toilets. The whole of Gloucester and Cheltenham seems to be severly flooded, nearly every route home was shut, emergency services vehicles everywhere. Now I'm knackered and should be in bed asleep.

silkcushion · 21/07/2007 00:26

ooh and SGK - we do a move in yoga that is very good for leg cramps. Have just realised how difficult it will be to describe but basically put one leg in front of the other. Bend front leg slightly and lean forward keeping back leg straight. Should stretch down the calf of the back leg.

Hope that made sense

AnnainNZ · 21/07/2007 15:11

Silkcushion - glad you've had some better news about your colleague

RGPargy · 21/07/2007 15:43

silkcushion - Very relieved to hear the news about your colleague.

Sorry it took you 5 hours to get home - how awful!! My DP also took about 3 hours to get home yesterday (normally 45 mins or so). He took a couple of vids on his mobile. Have a look HERE and also HERE

Hope everyone is a bit dryer now!!

We've just done the final tip run back at the old house. We only had the shed left to clear out so we've just finished - HOORAY!!! However, i'm a bit p1ssed off with my mother tbh. Y'see, it's her house and we used to rent it from her (she lives in Spain). As i wasn't sure about a table i found in the shed, i thought i'd give her a quick ring. She answered the phone not with "hello", but with a "yeah?" I was really angry!! And to top it all, she sounded drunk again (cheap booze in Spain for ya!) and was really curt and off with me.

At the end of the day, we have done an awful lot of clearing out of the house for her, repaired it and asked for no money, kept it in good order and generally treated it as we would our own home. We got no thanx for the tip runs, no thanx for trecking down to my brother's place to put her stuff in his storage shed, no thanx for doing any of this and when she answered the phone like that, we were both SOOOOO mad with her!!! At the end of the day, we had a legal and proper tenancy agreement so in theory she should have made the repairs to both toilets that my DP had the decency to fix as well as lots of other bits and pieces we've done without even thinking about it!

There's a couple of items in the shed now that were going to go to the tip and her gas BBQ in the garden, but we cant be arsed to clear them now. Sod it. They can stay there!

Hmmmm, maybe i should have done an "Am I being unreasonable" thread instead lol.

Ah that's better. I feel much better after that rant.

sarahloumadam · 21/07/2007 17:43

Hello bit new to this - how do I join the list (cut and paste?) I am due 20th Nov and expecting a baby boy. First timer, v.excited. Feeling great but fed up with running commentary on my bump but guess that it is normal. Bump is mostly bread and biscuits

RGPargy · 21/07/2007 18:10

Hi Sarah! Welcome and congrats!!

Yes, just cut and paste the current list into your message and add yourself to it. It did start off in scan-date order but i think that's gone a bit squiffy now so just stick yourself where you like lol.

Welcome SarahLou and Rachee. Join in and obsess over all this baby stuff too.

I've got a moses basket now (from my SIL). It looks lots bigger than I expected - can't quite believe we'll have an actual baby to put in it!

sparklygothkat · 21/07/2007 23:48

Hi all, haven't found anything that work for the leg cramps, but I do feel like I have run miles when I wake up as they cramp all night

Baby has been moving lots and can now see it wiggling about on the outside. I don't think I have a lot of waters as you can actually feel its head, legs and back.

Have my growth scan on wednesday so am very excited, especially as I will be finding out the sex. Have decided against telling MIL as she has a habit of letting things slip out and I know she will tell DH. So will be lying to her on wednesday, and saying that they couldn't see the sex. But hopefully I will know.
