Naetha · 21/07/2007 17:32

Incidentally, has anyone else found themselves making small involuntary "oof" noises when they get up / bend over / get out of bed / pick something up?

I can't stop doing it at the moment - DH keeps on taking the mick

RavenclAwen · 21/07/2007 17:53

Naetha yes.. been oofing. Cant wait to see dp's face tho when he gets home.. My bump has grown over the last 2 weeks LIttle one must know daddys coming home as lots of flutters. I had a nice bath today and my belly was moving byitself.. faster than my breathing. Anyone had this yet?

Cazzybaby · 21/07/2007 18:41

Thanks for the welcome!

I have started to get rather mushy over baby things, and also very confused, especially by the pram situation. Its more difficult than buying a car!

Havent felt any flutters yet, What did it feel like? I imagine it was amazing.

I haven't even got a little bump yet, i guess that it takes a little longer with baby number 1 to make an apperance...

PinkPetal · 21/07/2007 18:48

Hi ladies

Feeling as sick as a dog this week. Morning, noon and night with no let up - by far the worst week to date. Nothing is keeping down, yuch!

Thought sickness was meant to get better after 12 weeks, and i'm 14+1!

All those who have already been pregnant or are ahead of me this time, when did your sickness eventually go? xx

ladylush · 22/07/2007 00:47

Lol at your dh Naetha - beer baby perhaps?

Naetha · 22/07/2007 10:08

Definitely beer in there LL

My sickness hasn't completely stopped and I'm 17+2 - I occasionally get it on an evening, but most of it calmed down after about 13-14 weeks.

Bump has started to grow a LOT over the last couple of weeks - although you can only really see it when I'm lying on my back!

ladylush · 22/07/2007 23:14

Tip: You have to take pics of your bump sideways on standing up otherwise it won't do itself justice in the photos We found this out the hard way after months of taking bump pics when pg with ds.

spud01 · 23/07/2007 08:07

Hope everyone is well this morning

AngeChica - Thx for the tips definately giving the hot chocolate a try.

Well i think i must be the only one to not of had my scan yet, so typical, i dont have my scan till next week and i will be 13+6 weeks.

Hello Ladies. I'd like to join you please. I am pregnant with my first baby. Baby due 2nd January 2008. Cazzybaby - you haven't got a bump yet? My belly is huge. But that could be because I'm eating far too much! Naetha - I know what you mean about the "oof" noises. I get a pain in my lower back sometimes when I stand up. In one of my numerous pregnancy books it says it's normal to get pains in the side, but I'm not sure why I'm getting pains in my back.

Finally gave into my Mcdonald craving and had a lovely burger and fries...trouble is when you had it once, you want it again.....!!!

PBirdy · 23/07/2007 13:50

Hello everyone

I have been away on hols for the past week so have not posted for ages. We went to Russia - Moscow and St Petersburg -it was fascinating and I was so pleased that I had enough energy for sightseeing etc. The morning sickness only seems to come back now when I have not had enough sleep or I have not eaten properly.

I have cautiously decided that I have a bump! For many many weeks it just seemed that I was getting fatter and fatter but now it actually looks like the beginnings of a pregnant belly (as well as a few too many icecreams - oh well). Feeling quite excited about it although I am limited as to what I can wear at the moment, especially to work, as I was resisting buying too many maternity clothes in case I jinxed things.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I must admit that I have not been able to catch up on all the posts while I was away but I hope that everyone is doing well.

PBirdy X

Bettymamma · 23/07/2007 13:54

Trying to catchup with you all again - you've all been hard at it....so to speak!

Just back from holiday in Devon - lovely. Miss my dd terribly being back at work and have so much to do - groan.

Am so happy some of you have mentioned how much weight you have put on. I checked last night and I've put on 10lb (am 17 weeks). I'm like you MotherofZ though and was not that large beforehand. I know I lose it very quickly with breastfeeding and to be honest if it means a healthy baby then bring the weight on!

Hi Louise SJ. I think I don't have much of a bump yet but my jeans tell me otherwise. Can still fit in them with the hairband trick - thankyou Awen for teaching me this! Pains in back are quite normal. They'll get worse but I managed them with my dd through pg yoga and bouncing on an excerise ball. Don't know why but it sorted them out.

Pinkpetal - my sickness went this time at 12 weeks which doens't help you but with dd it eventually left at 16 wks.

Apologies to everyone - I have just scanned through the thread quickly. I see there was a food debate last week. I will admit I've been eating prawns and brie and having the odd glass of wine but pate and peanuts have been a big no no. I know prawns and brie are bad but it has been a craving of mine and I've only been eating brie that doesn't stink and is from Somerset (!? like that helps!)

In-laws -they can be so strange sometimes. MrsMcJnr - no, tell them you're having xmas at home in your own bed but thank you for the very kind and generous offer(!)

Hope everyone else is well.xx

Naetha · 23/07/2007 14:13

First day back at work for nearly 3 weeks today, which is fine in terms of workload and everything, but not so good in terms of clothing. Since I last went to work, none of my work clothes fit me any more. I'm currently wearing a pair of size 18 black jeans (I'm now size 14, but was size 18 back in January) a hideously uncomfortable non-wired bra that gives me as much support as jelly scaffolding yet practically sprouts lace at my neckline, and a lovely linen shirt that is bulging alarmingly at boob and tummy level.

I don't work too far from an M&S and I thought I'd take the opportunity at lunchtime to either get some larger clothes in the sales, or at least get some maternity clothes. No such luck unless I want to look like a tent. ALL of the maternity tops there looked about size 22 despite saying size 14. I don't want anything scarily fashionable (although it appears tents are in this season) I just want something that is serviceable and practical and doesn't show large acreages of wobbly tummy.

If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this then please let me know, otherwise its going to be oversized jeans with a button expander until I don't look comical in maternity trousers!

Naetha · 23/07/2007 14:18

Sorry got a bit carried away with my mini-rant - welcome back Bettymamma and PBirdy Both Devon and Russia sound lovely!

LouiseSJ · 23/07/2007 14:30

Thank you for adding me to your list. It is great to talk to people who are going through the same things as me.

Bettymamma - thanks for the advice about yoga. I have tried yoga before but I wasn't very good because I'm not very flexible. Although I am reasonably fit as I walk for at least 45 mins every day with my dog. I didn't realise there were special pregnancy yoga classes. I'll have to see if there is one in my area.

Naetha - I agree that maternity bras are very unflattering. You can't wear anything that has thin straps or that is too low at the front. I miss my wonder bra!

The worst problem for me at the moment is smells. Everything smells horrible. Will my sense of smell ever return to normal?

LouiseSJ · 23/07/2007 14:46

Speaking of bras. Does anyone know where I can buy a bra strap extender. My bras are getting a bit tight around the underband and I don't want to have to spend more money on bigger bras. The cup size is still ok.

Cazzybaby · 23/07/2007 15:28

Hello Everyone!

All these people coming back from holidays its making me jealous!

At last someone else with a super sensitive nose. All I seem to be doing recently is sniffing the air like a crazy person and saying ooooo can you smell that. Doesnt help that the lady in the flat opposite me has a BBQ every other evening it always smells soooooo good!

Angechica · 23/07/2007 15:51

Hi naetha

I begrudge spending money , thankfully a very kind friend just gave me a big bag of maternity clothes some of which i am already wearing because tight waistbands on trousers were actually making me feel sick.

H & M have some OK maternity things.

Also George, only available at certain ASDA's though.

I have to disguise the fact that with my normal work trousers I have undone the flies and tucked the waistbands down, so need tents to wear over that!

And there are loads of smock tops in the summer sales right now that will do going thru to the winter. I think the "dress over trousers" look works well with the bump!

Housemum · 23/07/2007 16:16

Naetha - I found some flattering (well, as flattering as trousers with an elasticated back waist can be!) black trousers in Red Herring Maternity at Debenhams - so long as your top covers the waist they are pretty good on the legs. You may need to go down a size - I'm a (generous) 14 but had to buy a size 12 - I tried the 14s on but they were huge in the bum and leg - even allowing for expansion they would still have looked ridiculous. Would be smart for work, though - think they are £25.

If you are looking for cheap maternity stuff New Look has plain black trousers for £10 in the "Bloom" range at larger branches, but they weren't as well-fitting for me. New Look is good for odd cheap bits - I can't usually be bothered to go through their sale rails but as the maternity one is so small I don't mind - I got a black wrap dress for £5 and a dusky blue beaded funky top for £3!

Naetha · 23/07/2007 16:19

I refuse to wear those smock tops (sorry I am notoriously unfashionable, not to mention stubborn and awkward). I've spent the first 25 years of my life trying my hardest NOT to look pregnant (and let's face it, everyone looks pregnant in those!) I'm damned if I'm giving in now!

Sorry that came across as rather militant lol!

There's a huge Asda with a big George section nearby, so I might try that tomorrow lunchtime

MrsMcJnr · 23/07/2007 16:54

Hey just checking in before catching up. All went well at my dating scan - though she didn't actually tell me my EDD! Good thing I knew what it was! hope everyone is well.

gingeme · 23/07/2007 18:51

Good evening ladies. Had a horrible sicky weekend. Saturday I took my big boys to see Transformers (awsome film) and had chinese after. Well its an eat as much as you like place and it was all so yummy. Payed for it Saturday night though. Yesterday we went to a friends BBQ and I only had a burger and a piece of birthday cake and felt sooooo bloated.
neatha I bought 3 smock tops a few weeks ago basicaly for the fact that you do look pregnant in them. I got my maternity wear off Ebay. Great bargains.
Oh how I could do with a holiday
Getting lots of flutters now. Im 15 weeks now.
Well Im glad your all keping well.
