hi all Glad scan went well MrsMcJnr.

Re maternity clothes - DP having a sale atm and managed to pick up jeans for £7 & £15 and another top for £3(plus extra 10% discount for nhs, norty me). Feeling quite fat and my bras are def uncomfortable. Dreading changing them as normally now 34G and really really dont want to get non-wired and the bras are likely to cost +++ as normal ones are around £25 for me.

Ah well. wont be online much now as school holidays and also dp is back. We are also going on holiday soon. Decided for UK holiday wales, bet it bloody rains .

Naetha · 24/07/2007 09:14

Awen - I've got myself two pairs of these - they're really really comfy and make the most of what you have!

I'd recommend nipping down to M&S and trying them on

Naetha · 24/07/2007 09:16

Ooh, I had a couple of things to ask as well...

Does anyone find their bump sits to one side, or generally in the middle? Mine seems to like my left side and sticks out (marginally) more on this side than my right - do other people get this too?

I'm sure I had something else to ask as well, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was!

Lots of flutters recently (which has been lovely!) and looking forwards to my next scan on the 3rd August - can't believe how fast its all going! Unfortunately DH won't be able to come along

MrsBiscuit · 24/07/2007 09:23

Morning all,

I feel the same about spending lots of money on clothes that might not fit for too long but I bought my first pair of maternity jeans at the weekend, and omg, what a relief! They are so comfortable and much better looking than the baggy-bummed gardening jeans that I've been lolloping around in, as they were the only ones I could fit into.

For tops I've been going to the sales and buying bigger sizes than usual, ones that will fit over my enlarged chest - I picked up quite a few long sleeved t-shirts and smarter shirts from the Monsoon sale at the weekend. Most were half price.

Has anyone formally told their employer that they're pg? I've mentioned it to my direct boss and the people I work closely with, but haven't told HR yet.

gingeme · 24/07/2007 09:25

Yes neatha a wonky bump is ok. Its just baby shifting its weight to get comfy. I remember my las baby was transverse most of the middle trimester so I used to get feet sticking out the left hand side and a big(well not big realy but it seemed that way at the time) sticking out my right hand side. Was quite funny to watch. Pretty fascinating too
Getting lots of achy feelings down my nether regions lately everything stretching I guess. Though I would have thought my body wouldnt do much more stretching now

MotherofZ · 24/07/2007 09:35

My tummy sticks to the left hand side slightly aswell - I find it really uncomfortable to sleep on LHS (even though you are advised to).
Told boss about pgy aggggeeeessss ago - had such bad morning sickness, that people started to wondering why best part of my day was spent in the ladies loo and why I would come out the the ladies with make up streaming down my face. Glad I did, now I get all the sympathy and extra chocs and cakes that are going around the office

Bettymamma · 24/07/2007 10:00

Morning ladies

My tummy sticks out a bit on the left hand side too. I had little pains there when I conceived this one and I think the scan lady found the placenta more on that side. Weird eh!?

Clothes clothes clothes - oh my favourite subject. Naetha - the right smock top can actually hide the fact you're pg which is bizarre. I have one from primark and where it with leggings and you'd never know. Didn't realise New Look had a maternity range I'm going to have to do a bit of surfing now. Sorry, can you tell I'm a little bit of a budget range fan!

Can't stop eating today and am really tired so obviously need to pig out - my body is telling me I've decided.

hope you're all well

ps Awen have you been playing around with your name again? Is this a nodd in the Harry Potter direction. I'm only on pg 100. Wales, rain - never!x

MrsMcJnr · 24/07/2007 11:29

Am in my mat work trousers for the first time today veerrryyy comfy!

Gingme ? sorry to hear you weren?t well at the weekend I am 15 weeks too, no flutters yet

RavenclAwen ? thanks quite annoyed now that they didn?t tell me the size of beanie or the EDD but they did tell me that the cyst was gone so I was pleased about that!

Naetha ? my sister?s bump was side on, especially at night last time hope 3/8 goes well, enjoy those flutters!!

MrsBiscuit ? I?ve told my boss and my team but I thought that it wasn?t worth telling HR formerly until I have that certificate at 20 weeks? Is that right?

MotherofZ ? nice that they are happy for you at work. Mine have been fine but I know my boss thinks it is a major inconvenience and never acknowledges or responds to my emails asking for time off for appointments bad manager! I am always very quick to respond to personal requests from my direct reports, best way to get their loyalty

Bettymamma ? hello

goingfor3 · 24/07/2007 12:57

Hi Ladies,

I had my stitch in on Thursday, had a fair amount of bleeding which freaked me out totally. I also have a red sunburnt looking face as I had a reaction to the drugs. When I got home on saturday I felt really ill and have a throat infection and a rash from scalp to toe which is worsening everytime I look at my self. Baby is fine as far I I know, I have flet it moving.

MotherofZ · 24/07/2007 13:13

Get well soon going43

Cazzybaby · 24/07/2007 13:40

Has anyone had their bloods back as Rhesus negative??

I have just spent 2 days a le hospital with a bleed, and by bloods came back 0 negative (rhesus negative). Resulted in having the biggest injection ever into my bum to stop body building anti dotes to fight of babies blood??

Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem or knows more about it as I am super confused!!

Bettymamma · 24/07/2007 13:51

ohhh hope you're all ok!

goingfor3 sorry to hear it was a bit of a nightmare. Hope you're recovering now. Have you got any antibiotics from your gp for your throat infection? Take it easy!

Cazzybaby - not had this but I've heard of it. When i got my blood tests back i really panicked for 2 seconds because I was expecting the hiv test and it said positive -then realised it was my blood group. So so blonde

MrsMcJ - glad to hear scan went well. I would like you as my boss! My boss 'doesn't do emails'!? He was also the one who said it was very disappointing when i told him i was pg.

Told HR a couple of weeks ago but shes currently on honeymoon and told me to try to not mention it too much to management until our appraisals were over. Its not bad advice!

Sorry your op wasn't great Goingfor3, but at least its over and done with now, and you're feeling flutters

Cazzybaby - a bit of info on being rhesus negative here www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/complications/wrongcombinationbloodexpert/

Anyone else struggling with wind at the moment? I had a bit of it in the early stages, but not as bad as this. I took a Senokot a couple of days ago in the hope that this would move things along a bit, but if anything it has made it worse. Getting rid of anything solid hasn't been too much of a problem (apologies for TMI) but I just seem to have a constant wurbliness inside me that won't go away, not to mention very painful spasms at times. I haven't really been eating anything particularly windy as well - no brussels sprouts or baked beans! Any ideas on what I can do?

Bettymamma · 24/07/2007 15:40

Onions and orange juice affect me Naetha! It was a matter of elimination working that out.

I tend to find a peppermint tea helps ease the old bubbles of wind along. It can be VERY painful though i agree.

MotherofZ · 24/07/2007 15:42

I find that if I don't eat 'on-time' (i.e not eating anything for 2-3 hours or more) I get terrible wind. Before I was ok and could manage, but I find that being preggers has played havoc with my digestive system. Need to do a 'no 2' more often, get wind more quickly and indigestion with spicy food (love my spicy food and jalepeno peppers) - now can't handle it.

Cazzybaby · 24/07/2007 16:14

Naethea thanks for the link that website very helpful!

fluffymummy · 24/07/2007 17:03

hiya...am i in the right place? i'm due 24th jan, but reckon i might slip (even into feb) as ds1 was 2 weeks late and induced. but is this thread for new year bumps only, or for jan 08 in general? last time round i had nct for sanity but this time i think i'm going to need some mumsnet support!!! thanks xx

LilyLoo · 24/07/2007 19:30

Evening ladies.Haven't had chance to catch up yet. I'm just back from my hen weekend in Amsterdam. Had a great time despite staying sober , although gave in to the odd glass of rose. Am very tired now so am hoping to recharge the batterys for the next couple of weeeks before we go away to Malta.
Saw the midwife today heard the heartbeat. Was told i had low blood pressure, i have never had this before anyone know why it could be low or what might happen due to low blood pressure. All midwife said was to be careful when getting up in case i faint
I reiterate George at Asda is brill , got loads of cheap stuff in the sale the next size up as maternity stuff still way to big. Got a real bump now and def had some flutters. It's real!
Hope evryone else ok and looking forward to our 'blooming or bloated thread!'

toomanyshoes · 24/07/2007 21:03

Hi Cazzybaby - I am rhesus neg too and had the anti D jabs twice in last pg and once after delivery. Will have to have same this time. As long as you have anti D it is nothing to worry about. If you don't there is a risk that if the baby has the opposite blood type to you and your blood mixes together during delivery your body will create anibodies against that blood type which could cause a miscarriage in any future pregnacies. Hope that makes sense!

Hello to everyone else - hope you are all feeling more energetic than me, I'm more knackered now than I was at the beginning!

horsygirl · 24/07/2007 21:21

Went for scan this morning and the little cutie was very obliging and showed us every angle really clearly. We have a lovely photo.

Feeling huge and a bit miserable about that. Im a bit of a diet and fitness freak and its really getting me down that Im seemingly 'letting myself go'. Im 14 weeks and I've put on half a stone. No way is it all babe either - half of its fat, pure and simple. I know Im being too hard on myself but feeling healthy is so much part of who I am and I feel distinctly slobbish

MotherofZ · 25/07/2007 08:19

am 17+3 and out on 1 stone

Naetha · 25/07/2007 08:46

Welcome Fluffymummy This thread is for anyone that wants to join that's due from the last week in December to the first week in Feb generally, so you're welcome to park yourself here

Welcome back after your hen-weekend Lilyloo, sounds like fun! I'm getting holiday itchy feet at the moment - I just want to see some sun - is it too much to ask??!?!?!

As for weight gain in early pregnancy, its NOT all fat! Mostly its water retention to help create more blood, amniotic fluid etc etc which is all needed for a healthy baby

Ooh one thing I meant to ask - palpitations, do you get them anywhere other than your heart / chest?

I get them really strongly in my stomach a few hours after eating (which feels really weird) and then in my uterus (or where I imagine it to be!) now and again.

Everyone else get these?
