@sacrecoeur0712 I don't have any experience of this but am thinking of you. It probably is just a precaution and nothing to worry about, which is so much easier said than done . They need to be so thorough now. Take things one day at a time and try not to let it get in your head.

Sleep well

sacrecoeur0712 · 09/04/2019 06:24

Thanks @Fuppy and @Mondayblues7

I'm waiting for them to phone me with a date and time for the appointment x

PhoebeBear · 09/04/2019 10:30

Interested in getting another 4D scan around the 30 week mark, is it safe for baby?
I had a pregnancy brain moment this morning 😂 turned up for my midwife appointment where I believe they start measuring my stomach? Doc says midwife was already in session but I had appointment written on my phone! 9 May 2019 !!! Oh god it's only April 🙄
When did your appointments start for measuring? I'll be 27 weeks by May x

EverythingNow · 09/04/2019 10:50

@phoebebear I won't see MW again until 28wks so I guess then. My last appointment with her was 16wks. You really get limited appointments if it's your second or more.

EverythingNow · 09/04/2019 10:53

Hope all is ok today @Fuppy. Thinking of you @Sacrecoeur0712 x

PhoebeBear · 09/04/2019 10:56

@EverythingNow it's my first so I'm not really sure what to expect x

sacrecoeur0712 · 09/04/2019 11:03

They've phoned me to go in and be rescanned today by the foetal medicine team. Will update afterwards x

milly2000 · 09/04/2019 13:34

@sacrecoeur0712 hope all goes well!

Right I have questions. I will be bottle feeding. And I just feel like I have so many questions about cleaning and feeding 🙈

After sterilising bottles do I keep them in the steriliser and take one out as I need them? Or do I store them in a cupboard or do I need to sterilise again?

Can you pre make bottles and keep them in the fridge?

Anyone that has had a process that's worked for them I would be hugely grateful to hear what worked for you!

Sorry I may sound like I'm getting ahead of myself here!

ScotsBaby2 · 09/04/2019 14:36

@milly2000 we had MAM bottles and they are self sterilising in the micro so no need for a steriliser. Leave then built up for the micro after sterilising then build when needed.

We didn't make up bottles for the fridge as I was told it wasn't really meant to be done like that. I bought a perfect prep and when out I used a flask of boiling or asked for boiling water in a teapot and did 2oz of boiling, add powder, shake, add pre measured dose of cold water.

@PhoebeBear from my last pregnancy it looks like they measured from 32 weeks.

@EverythingNow my health board have started doing same appointments for all mums rather than more for FTM. Means I get one at 22 weeks.

Fuppy · 09/04/2019 15:01

Thanks @EverythingNow

So scan took an hour (because he was in a bad position again) but after lots of turning from me, they said his heart looks normal It was difficult being back there but managed to keep it together. Thank you all for the hand hold

Hope you also have good news @sacrecoeur0712

sacrecoeur0712 · 09/04/2019 15:18

@Fuppy fantastic news, you must be so relieved. My scan seemed to take forever so was very anxiety-inducing, I can only imagine how you must have been feeling.

Good news from me too, all looks fine and no arrhythmia. A slightly unusual position for one of the veins going into the heart but it's a variation of normal rather than a problem. Re-scan at 28 weeks to double check but cardiologist is not concerned. Smile

EverythingNow · 09/04/2019 16:23

@Sacrecoeur0712 and @Fuppy great news!

@Scotsbaby2 I think it's mad that there are far less appointments for 2+ mums. I know it's an expense but it's surely the most dangerous thing you can go through as a women? I will see MW 4 times before EDD I think (booking, 16, 28 and 32) as I'll go over I'll see them a few more times as they attempt to evict him.

@Milly2000 I bottle fed my eldest 18yrs ago and we did used to make bottles up in advance and leave in fridge for the day. I breastfed 2 and 3 but when I came to give them bottles so I could leave them all the advice had changed and you aren't supposed to make them up in advance any more. I used to use the pre made cartons then because there is nothing worse than waiting for a bottle to cool while your baby's screaming. I guess those prep machines must fix that?

Jokie · 09/04/2019 18:07

@Sacrecoeur0712 and @Fuppy great news! Am so pleased for you both.

Fuppy · 09/04/2019 18:10

@Jokie & @EverythingNow thank you! @sacrecoeur0712 mine was long too, about an hour! Glad yours was good too Grin

ScotsBaby2 · 09/04/2019 19:46

@EverythingNow the perfect prep puts a shot of boiling water into the bottle then you add the powder. The shot of boiling kills the bacteria in the powder then the machine adds in the correct amount of water.

We get booking, 16, 22, 28, 32, 36, 38, 40, 41. Quite a lot compared to you. It should be the same for everyone no matter where they stay or how many babies they have. Let people opt out if they want.

Have my scan tomorrow. We aren't going to find out what we are having as we want it to be a surprise! How long do these scans normally last? X

PhoebeBear · 09/04/2019 20:27

@Mondayblues7 a private scan or 20 week scan?x

PinkLady89x · 09/04/2019 20:55

Hi Guys,
Got my 20 week scan tomorrow. I don't feel as scared as I normally do before a scan because I can feel her quite a lot now. I had nothing and then on Saturday the movement started and everyday it's been quite clear that it's her. Having said that, there's still a part of my mind that's very very nervous! I actually can't wait for her to be here now as this anxiety is driving me mad! I find that I can't get excited because I'm so worried.
Also, going to get the gender confirmed as our private gender scan said she was a girl but I want to confirm it before I buy too many pink bits 😊.
By 20 weeks is it usually all okay? I just feel like I need a bit of reassurance. It does seem that this pregnancy has been textbook so far so fingers crossed. Just with two precious losses (very early ones) I still find it hard to relax.
Hope everyone is doing well 😊. It's been lovely seeing the scan photos.

Mondayblues7 · 09/04/2019 21:03

20 week scan.

Just reminded DH and he looked at me like I had 2 heads. He has a meeting booked in that he can no reschedule. 😭😭

Cobblestones · 09/04/2019 21:58

@fuppy @sacrecoeur so pleased to hear your news! While catching up on the thread and reading about the upcoming scans it made me nervous just to read it. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for you. Thankfully you’re through it and can be more excited and less nervous now ❤️

First time mum here so the discussions about bottle preparation and what is and isn’t allowed is so helpful!

PhoebeBear · 09/04/2019 23:16

@Mondayblues7 my 20 week scan took about 20 minutes I believe, maybe 25. Baby was hiding a lot and it was difficult for sonographer to get him in the right positions for measuring bones and such

Fuppy · 09/04/2019 23:55

@Cobblestones Thank you!

@Mondayblues7 & @PinkLady89x Good luck with your scans! I'm not best placed to comment on how long scans take, both of my boys have been really wiggly or in an awkward position which makes appointments much longer (or have to be repeated)

sacrecoeur0712 · 10/04/2019 07:38

Thank you @Cobblestones

@Mondayblues7 I had to go to my scan on my own as DH was out of the country for work (we booked the scan around his travel dates, then the dates for the trip got changed Hmm)

Mine took around 40 mins as the sonographer wanted to switch machines to check the heartbeat so I had to go back to the waiting room and then go into another scanning room when it became free. The main part of the scan took about 20 mins.

Mondayblues7 · 10/04/2019 07:53

Thank you everyone for your comments. He has just called his client and asked to push the meeting back to later on today.

Excited to see bean! Not excited to go back to work after as have had two days off already this week.

They normally like me to work through my lunch breaks if I have an appointment (even though I have said time and time again lawfully I am allowed time of paid) they all have worked there for like 15+ years so don't really know the real world .
