Hi to the new guys!

Home from holiday today. Despite wearing flight socks my feet were so swollen after 2 x 6 hour flights that I couldn't even wiggle my toes. It was grotesque. My feet looked like they'd been over inflated. Currently lying with them up trying to get them to deflate! This pregnancy lark is seriously glamorous!

@fuppy great scan picture btw!

ABearandABump · 07/04/2019 11:52

Anyone got any recommendations for breast pumps?

Couldn't BF my son has he had tongue tie and lip tie and couldn't latch, midwife told me I was starving him by trying and I just lost all confidence.

Hoping this time to express if baby has tongue tie.

@Fuppy how did you get such a clear scan pic? I have to go back this week for a second attempt to see baby's spine and face. Baby looks like a bowling pin on all my pictures 😂.

Xx

Snowflake9 · 07/04/2019 13:40

Welcome to the group! @phoebebear

@bakingabean have you tried soaking your feet in cool water? This may help to receive the swelling, or put an ice pack over your ankles.

Sorry if this is TMI but today I have inherited pregnancy piles. Perfect. So bloody painful, had them before and now it's super uncomfortable. Dreading work tomorrow and sitting at a desk for 8 hours. I can barely sit at the table to eat lunch. Any remedies people? Have used aloe gel as that's all I have in the house at the mo.

X

Fuppy · 07/04/2019 17:25

@Bakingabean thank you!
@ABearandABump I ended up with a second (perhaps senior) sonographer and she ended up taking the pictures. The rest of mine haven't been great, only difference was I was on my side for that part of the scan. I used to think only thin ladies got clear pics...but I'm the opposite of thin so definitely not that!
@PhoebeBear Good luck with your appointment tomorrow
@Snowflake9 I'm sorry you're suffering! The only cure I know of for piles is to get them banded (elastic bands put on so they end up falling off) but apparently it's painful 😖 Dunno if it's safe to use Germolene, there's one with local anaesthetic in, that might help? TBH you're better off asking a pharmacist x

Snowflake9 · 07/04/2019 17:56

Thanks @fuppy. It has gotten worse through the day so will go see pharmacist tomorrow. Can't go to work I can barely sit 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Fuppy · 07/04/2019 18:09

@Snowflake9 have you got/tried a foam doughnut thing to sit on? That could help for now?

Snowflake9 · 07/04/2019 18:17

I have positioned two pillows in that sort of arrangment and am going to have a soak in the bath in a mo to try and soothe it.

Wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy!!

milly2000 · 07/04/2019 19:43

@Snowflake9 I've only had one once and it is bloody awful, but my dear old gran gave me some advice (brace yourself it's a strange one) putting some Vick Vapour rub on it, if it's external! It soothes the pain and it worked for me, I would say though if you give it a go to only start with applying a little as it can give you a bit of a cold sensation which apparently some people find more irritating. But personally for me I found it really helped and it cleared itself up after a couple of days.

Snowflake9 · 07/04/2019 22:14

Oh my goodness.

That price of advice will be with me forever now. Bless your Gran. Hoping I can get some sleep tonight!

All the best for the week ahead Augusteers! Xx

milly2000 · 08/04/2019 10:12

@Snowflake9 hope it helped 👍🏻

Middledistancerunner · 08/04/2019 11:18

@Snowflake9 good luck for today.
Pregnancy is miserable isn’t it 😂

I’ve just had my 20 week scan, I’m pleased to say that all is well and I’m expecting to be induced on 31st July and will be having a boy and a girl.

Middledistancerunner · 08/04/2019 11:23

*also I’ve name changed!

Fuppy · 08/04/2019 11:42

@Middledistancerunner congrats on your scan results!

My anxiety is through the roof. Just had a call from the hospital to say they have a cancellation for a foetal echocardiogram, for tomorrow morning! I didn't even know I was going to get one for this baby, DH is unwell and can't come with me.
Need a handhold, it's in the same place that DS1 died, I haven't been there since and I'll be on my own Sad

Blueberry2018 · 08/04/2019 11:45

@Snowflake9 Snap! I too have been suffering with pregnancy piles the last few days. I had a large large bowel movement after a few days of constipation which caused me to bleed a little bit in my back passage (sorry if tmi!). Now have a very sore bottom! Wondering whether sudocrem for now may help, any advice welcome! Doesnt hurt too much sitting on my bottom its more so going to the loo that is a struggle!!!

Blueberry2018 · 08/04/2019 11:45

@Fuppy Really hope it goes ok tomorrow morning- will be thinking of you. Deep breaths and remember that this time will be positive 😊. X

Fuppy · 08/04/2019 12:06

Thank you @Blueberry2018 Star

Jokie · 08/04/2019 12:17

@Fuppy: big handhold here. I was in a similar situation a few weeks ago. I was sent to triage for checking the baby and they put me in the same room as when I lost my second baby. Then the same monitoring suite. I was a bit of a mess but glad I did it without crying. You can always ask not to go into XX room. They've put it on my notes.

Mondayblues7 · 08/04/2019 12:34

Temp name change - Snowflake9

@fuppy wishing you all the best for tomorrow. We are all with you in spirit.

@Blueberry2018 - when you next feel the urge to go, but your feet a little higher on a stool or something when sat on the loo. This position causes less pressure and strain. Drink plenty of water. Hoping it gets better for you!

chiatta · 08/04/2019 16:34

@fuppy thinking of you for your scan.

Good to hear everyone’s news.

Anyone know anything bout Facebook? I want to be on the group but the invitation isn’t coming up in my other inbox (which is difficult to find but I managed it). Why could this be? My settings? My days of being good with technology are behind me.

Also: anyone just had a massive appetite increase/growth spurt? I am so hungry. It’s worrying me. Have put on 2 kilos since last week.

Fuppy · 08/04/2019 17:45

Thank you @chiatta @Mondayblues7 and @Jokie so sorry you had to go through it too, despite it being a difficult situation I'll probably be ok. All your support has helped to shush my anxiety a little x

sacrecoeur0712 · 08/04/2019 18:41

@Fuppy handhold from me as well. Thanks

Had my 20 week scan today - all was well structurally but baby's heartbeat was a little arrhythmic so I'm being referred to a cardiologist as a precaution. Clinging onto that phrase, 'as a precaution'. Anyone got any experience of this? I daren't google.

ScotsBaby2 · 08/04/2019 19:50

@chiatta the invitation should appear in your email inbox or email junk mail. I can try sending it again if you pm me the email address attached to your Facebook account.
Alternatively I can add you as a friend, add you to the group then delete you as a friend.

@fuppy hope scan is ok.
@sacrecoeur0712 No advice, I'm sorry, but handhold here and I'm sure it will be a precaution.

OP posts:
Jokie · 08/04/2019 19:55

@sacrecoeur0712; that can be common and they may just want to have a more precise echo on the heart chambers to make sure there's not a problem.

@chiatta; yep, I go through this every few weeks. I have times where I don't have much of an appetite and then days when I could eat for Britain.

@Fuppy: thinking of you xx

I've got my midwife appointment on Wednesday and not sure what to expect as it's the first time I've been with them (the hospital does it differently here). Lots and lots of questions and hoping for a physio referral for my hips/back aches.

Hope everyone is ok.

sacrecoeur0712 · 08/04/2019 20:47

@ScotsBaby2 thank you for the handhold and @Jokie thank you so much for the reassuring words 💕

Fuppy · 08/04/2019 21:53

Thank you @ScotsBaby2

@sacrecoeur0712 thank you, I hope your scan goes well. Have you got a date for it?
