@Snowflake9 I'm so sorry! I don't know why people would ever think it's acceptable to call anyone names like that. I've looked into weight gain and found this on the bump
Of the approximately 30 pounds you’ll gain throughout your pregnancy, there’s a whole lot more than fat. Here’s what makes up that weight:

An average full-term baby = 7.5 pounds

Placenta = 1.5 pounds

Uterus = 2 pounds

Amniotic fluid = 2 pounds

Maternal stores of fat, protein, and other nutrients (needed for breastfeeding!) = 7 pounds

Breast tissue (also for BFing, of course) = 2 pounds

Increased fluid volume = 4 pounds

Increased blood volume = 4 pounds

There's also this website which helps you track if your weight gain is suitable

www.omnicalculator.com/health/pregnancy-weight-gain

But we need to try not to obsess about it! It is natural and I'm clinging to the idea that in a few weeks the bump will actually look like a pregnancy rather than just a bit rounder than I normally am. Plus I'm staying away from scales and mirrors!

Snowflake9 · 04/04/2019 21:23

@keebo you are an angel. Thank you so much for that. It's nice to have a support group on here.

I have only put on 6lbs since December , we don't own scales at home but my mum has some and I couldn't resist! What will be will be. As long as my little jelly bean is healthy xx

Maybe for you. Some people get completely ignored! Hmm

sacrecoeur0712 · 05/04/2019 11:40

@Fuppy sorry I missed your post when I replied yesterday. So glad your scan when well and what an amazingly clear picture!

Fuppy · 05/04/2019 12:06

@sacrecoeur0712 thank you Thanks

ScotsBaby2 · 05/04/2019 18:28

@fuppy Sorry you are feeling left out. I am spending more time on the Facebook group and only pop over occasionally here. I’m glad they managed to get all the measurements this time.

Hey all :) it's been a horridly hectic week so I apologise for not being on here. I'm another one on the FB group, too.

Re: weight gain; it's depressing me :( I know that it's average to gain 1/2kg per week but I'm doing a lot more at the moment :( will try to catch up on the last few pages now!

Jokie · 05/04/2019 18:58

@Fuppy: great news about the scan. Did you have to do anything special to help him cooperate? I had to go on my side and lay there for a while to see if he'd move.

@Snowflake9; what a great image!!! Basting a turkey!

@sacrecoeur0712: definitely true about loving the body you have :)

Snowflake9 · 05/04/2019 19:21

@fuppy I am sorry I didn't mean to ignore you. Glad all is well with your scan! I have mine on Wednesday and am dreading it. I had a MMC last year and I have a bit of a think about ultrasounds now.

Although, I would say all is well as my little bean is thumping away!

Bought a Moses basket online this morning from precious little one. Really good price. Also caved and bid on some maternity jeans and won on eBay so bye leggings (hopefully!) What are everyone's plans for the weekend?

X

Fuppy · 05/04/2019 19:25

@Jokie thank you, I'm not sure what did it exactly but jumping and jiggling didn't help, I took a sip of cold Ribena and shortly after was asked to lay on my side, about a minute later he moved. So glad he did, this was the 3rd sonographer trying to look at his heart and they were already preparing me for a 'failed anomaly scan' seeing as his older brother had 3 cardiac arrests and died within 39 hours of birth I was more than worried.

@ScotsBaby2 nps, I wish I could be on FB group but it's not safe for me to be on FB, that's why I'm using this. Also, I've kept this pregnancy a secret from everyone I know in RL apart from DH.

Jokie · 05/04/2019 19:29

@Fuppy: I can understand your worry. I have a congenital heart defect so we get the extended heart scan too and this baby hates the machine. The minute that the feel the echo machine, they're moving about and refusing to cooperate. I'm so glad that you got good news.

Fuppy · 05/04/2019 19:29

@Snowflake9 it's ok, let us know how you get on with the jeans! No idea what I'm doing this weekend.

Is anyone getting prem baby stuff just in case?

Fuppy · 05/04/2019 19:38

@Jokie bless you, both DH and I had to have ours checked last time, and we had the foetal echo, both babies had been really wiggly during scans until yesterday! Have you had to talk with a geneticist?

Jokie · 05/04/2019 19:46

@Fuppy: no. Not yet at least... There's always talk of it being investigated as it runs through 4 out of 7 cousins and my grandfather died of a heart complications but so far they just take extra precautions and scans. I've had a lot more scans this pregnancy as they weren't happy with the older scans I had.

Re: buying prem stuff. We didn't as all our scans indicated a big baby... Unfortunately, we had a bit of a scare and my DD was born at 36+4 and was in premi stuff. Luckily i could just use the newborn stuff for the first 2 days (that was absolutely massive but it did the trick) and then did a little online order with next day delivery for the stuff we needed. I think I'd do that again as there's always a chance you won't need it. We were in hospital for a bit so I had it sent to a neighbour and my DH picked it up from there.

keebo · 05/04/2019 21:12

@fuppy, sorry! Didn't mean to ignore anyone, it's sometimes so hard to keep track of messages. Congrats on a good scan though, it must have been concerning after your previous birth. I'm so sorry to hear about your DS.
Anyone noticed a pattern of movement yet? Mine has started kicking me when it's lunchtime 😁

Jelliestogether · 05/04/2019 21:30

@fuppy glad your little one was finally doing the right thing! Sorry to hear about your older child! Hope your cardiac scan goes well, I had mine the other day and the little one was wiggling all round the place, apparently made it fairly tricky!

@keebo yes definitely noticed a pattern this last week of it moving when I first wake up, then around breakfast, dinner and bedtime. Although I've just realised I've not felt it move since around 4pm but been busy at work so hopefully when I sit down at home later it'll move!! Just eaten a bag of skittles to give it a sugar rush in hope....

Fuppy · 05/04/2019 21:31

@Jokie that must be tough. I've had extra scans with both, it's a bit more of a reassurance for me.

@keebo it's ok. I'm not sure about a pattern, but this baby appears to be food activated, he kicks and moves after I've eaten.

Jokie · 05/04/2019 21:34

@keebo: mine is definitely food activated too. I normally only feel it when sitting down (not standing or walking around) so weekends are always less than during the week as I'm not sitting down for long enough to notice.

Normally, it's about 2hrs after waking is the first and then not regularly throughout the day. No real patterns as yet

Fuppy · 05/04/2019 21:45

@Jelliestogether Oh nice, you also have a wiggly baby? I'm wondering if there's any link between this and high energy kids that can't sit still for 30 seconds Grin

Kathryn19 · 06/04/2019 12:33

Hello! I'm due around 23rd August with my first. I've just been lurking and reading for a while (quite nervous about the whole thing tbh) but would like to join Smile. I will also send my email for the facebook group if that is okay!

MrsRyan15 · 06/04/2019 18:44

Welcome to the group @Kathryn19

Jokie · 06/04/2019 18:56

@Kathryn19: welcome to the group! :)

Kathryn19 · 06/04/2019 19:16

@Jokie and @MrsRyan15 thank you both! Smile

Fuppy · 06/04/2019 19:46
