I've just spend some time going through all the messages i've missed so much.

21 + 2 now and this morning i've woken up and i feel like i've strained a muscle in my stomach! Same feeling as when you've done a load of sit ups the day before. So uncomfortable, i've had to keep getting up from my desk at work to go for a walk to help ease the aching! Anyone else?

ABearandABump · 01/04/2019 21:34

@Cobblestones much better day today. Hormones are ridiculous at times. Thank you xx

chiatta · 01/04/2019 22:34

20 week scan was today- and it’s a boy 💙
And the placenta has moved up- thanks everyone who reassured me before when it was low

ScotsBaby2 · 01/04/2019 22:34

So glad it's moved @chiatta everything else ok?

OP posts:
chiatta · 02/04/2019 05:34

ScotsBaby2 They said everything else seemed good so far Smile

Bakingabean · 02/04/2019 06:53

@milly2000 happens to me a fair bit. I have to hold my bump while I sneeze otherwise I feel like I've pulled a muscle.

Currently on our "baby moon" and it's really hot. My feet are so swollen my toes look like cocktail sausages and I'm so far past cankles that I have "thankles". I can barely get my feet in sandles. I can't imagine how swollen they'll be by the summer. Does anyone else have this yet or so it just because of the heat?

sacrecoeur0712 · 02/04/2019 06:54

Great news @chiatta!

MrsRyan15 · 02/04/2019 07:21

@milly2000 I've been getting that a lot aswell. Presumed it is stretching and organs moving to make way for growing baby.

Always reassuring to hear others are having the same issues.

Snowflake9 · 02/04/2019 08:13

My stomach hurts to and my god, yesterday at work I had such a numb arse! Was having to get up every 10 minutes. I have to be careful when I sneeze as I feel as though my insides are going to rip out.

No swelling as of yet, absolutely dreading it if we have another summer like last year. I will be going to work in my small packed non air conditioned office in a bikini. 😂😂

ScotsBaby2 · 02/04/2019 10:33

@Bakingabean I think it will probably just be the heat. Lots of feet up time required! Where are you on your baby moon?

@milly2000 I get this all the time. Especially after a bath or being in the swimming pool. I'm the same with holding bump (and also squeezing my pelvic floor) every time I sneeze.

OP posts:
sacrecoeur0712 · 02/04/2019 13:02

I find either drawing my knees up (if sitting) or bending at the knees and hips (if standing) helps with the ligament/muscle pain when sneezing.

I'm also dreading the hot weather - I'm already developing varicose veins 😩

Jelliestogether · 02/04/2019 20:46

Specialist cardiac scan completed and all normal as predicted by the 20 week scan. Scary to think the next time we might get to see baby is when its born!!

Nope not having issues with swelling yet, hopefully it's just the heat for you! @Bakingabean hope your having a lovely holiday!

ScotsBaby2 · 02/04/2019 22:06

@Jelliestogether that's great news!

OP posts:
Bakingabean · 03/04/2019 06:45

@scotsbaby2 we're in Mauritius! I've always wanted to go somewhere tropical so DP is treating us to a last posh holiday before baby arrives. Having a great time but sad I can't indulge in the rum tasting!

Glad to hear no one else is suffering the swelling yet. It's particularly unattractive!

And great news @jelliestogether !

Snowflake9 · 03/04/2019 07:26

Struggling to find the energy to go to the gym. I have a gym membership that I am tied in to and could freeze it but only for 6 months and the thing is I am still going once at week at least. ..

My thighs actually touch eachother now, struggling with how much my body is changing. Had an issue with body image in my teens (now 27) and I don't like getting bigger although I know why I am . I'm really torn.

Might just go for a swim tonight, don't want to mention it to DH or he will be all "you can't cancel the gym, you need to go it's good for you and baby" blah blah blah.

Just wanted to get it off my now huge chest.

QueenofFox · 03/04/2019 13:04

Exciting for more boys!

I've had a chronic cough for four weeks now and hay fever, it's destroyed my pelvic floorBlush

QueenofFox · 03/04/2019 13:05

Didn't mean to post! Also starting to get bad cankles/water retention! Really feeling it all this time. Off to Italy on Sunday and cannot wait.

Mauritius sounds amazing!

MrsRyan15 · 03/04/2019 19:04

Oh to be in Mauritius!! Very jealous @Bakingabean

DH has been really funny about my flying (he worries a lot!) I only just convinced him that I would be fine on a 45min flight to Ireland at Easter to see his folks. 🙈

Bakingabean · 03/04/2019 19:20

I'm incredibly lucky to have DP as I couldn't afford this sort of thing myself. He's been amazing all round really!

Have a great time in Italy @QueenofFox ! Enjoy the food!

And treat yourself to a half of Guinness @MrsRyan15 one of my colleagues was told (in the 80s) to drink a pint a day for the iron. Her son was born strong as an ox and is a huge rugby player!

keebo · 03/04/2019 22:12

@MrsRyan15 I'm off to Ireland too this weekend, and I will definitely be having a half of Guinness. I've stayed away from alcohol completely (not even a sip of champagne at a family party last weekend) so I think I deserve to try the 'healthy' alcoholic drink. Plus the Dairy Milk chocolate is supposed to be a hundred times better because of the milk...
@Snowflake9, although I'm older than you (35, verging on geriatric for a first born apparently), I have the same issues. I've never changed shape since I first got boobs in my early teens. Now my thighs rub slightly, my boobs are massive and, of course, my belly sticks out. I know I shouldn't complain because so many people struggle to maintain their weight and I'm lucky to not normally have to bother but I'm finding it hard to adjust to the changes and am praying I can get my figure back afterwards. Keep going with the swimming and gym when you feel up to it. It's all I can manage to go once a week at the moment but moving house (building work is finally finished so we're back at home, yippee!) has been good exercise for me this week! (Strictly lightweight carrying for me of course!)

Fuppy · 04/04/2019 10:31

So it was close today to being a 2nd and final 'failed' anomaly scan due to my little monkey boy being in the wrong position (again) and refusing to move but ended up on my side to be scanned and he eventually changed position. All is looking good! Grin

Snowflake9 · 04/04/2019 13:37

@keebo I went to the gym last night and it's probably hormones but after my workout (25 minutes cross trainer 35 minutes pregnancy safe weights on a gym ball) I just got in my car and cried. I'm 5ft nothing and have always been a size 6-8 and buying bigger sizes is killing me.

I had a problem with the association of food and my body image when I was 16-18 and some of those thoughts are starting to creep back. I am of course eating, 3 meals a day but I am dreading when baby is born and I am left with a post pregnancy body.

I know I really shouldn't moan. I am so excited to have this baby and am blessed that we are having it , it's just a wobble in the road for me.

Someone at work called me "chunky monkey" too and it absolutely crushed me.

Why do people think it's ok to comment on your weight?

My mum came back from Canada where they live, hadn't seen her since I was 5 weeks pregnant and the first thing she said was wow aren't you fat!

I know it's all in jest but it's not sitting well with me.

Wow this turned into a rant. Sorry guys. Less moaning from me in the coming posts.

sacrecoeur0712 · 04/04/2019 14:53

Just a bit of reassurance for those who are concerned about their changing bodies - when I was expecting dc1 I too was worried about how much my body would change and whether I would be able to shift the additional weight gained in pregnancy. My body has changed, but a year after dc2 I was actually a stone lighter than when I got pg with dc1. I think it's because I'm more active than when I only did a desk job, and because of the kids I try to eat more carefully now so I can be around for them for as long as possible (although I did eat a bag of jelly babies after lunch today Blush). Yes, my stomach is softer and I have stretch marks I didn't have before, but there are bits of my body I actually prefer post-babies. Fully clothed I think I look just as good as before, (not perfect in any way but passable, and I try to dress to show off the better bits) it's only DH who sees me in my stretch-marked glory and I blame him for those Wink

Snowflake9 · 04/04/2019 17:53

@sacrecoeur0712 thank you so much. That has definitely made me feel better.

I slather myself in so much baby oil, Palmer's and other oil morning and night I practically slide into bed. Haha. DH Says it's looks like I'm basting a turkey.
X
