@curlywurlywooo: that's it! I've definitely been wearing baggy shirts!

@Snowflake9: I'll be attending a very busy conference at 30 weeks pregnant in spain and am just planning to take it easy, wear comfortable
shoes and take plenty of breaks. I think you'll be fine but see how you feel. I'd also recommend making sure you have a letter from the doctor for flying as some airlines can be a bit funny after 25 weeks

curlywurlywooo · 16/03/2019 10:22

@Snowflake9 you’ll still be in your second trimester and a lot of women go for babymoons up until their third trimester, I think you’ll be fine but as others have said wear comfy cool clothes and maybe invest in a good pair of sandals with plenty of air cushioning! And maybe a bump belt to support your back? If I had the opportunity to go to Italy at 25 weeks I’d go! Grin

Snowflake9 · 16/03/2019 11:48

Thanks everyone for your replies. There won't be any time for sight seeing or anything, it will just be two days walking around a huge exhibition hall. I think I got a bit over enthusiastic and was gun ho about going but on second thoughts I will probably just be a bit bored! And I wouldn't want DH worrying about me sat in a cafe somewhere.

I have said I think he should go alone and then we can book a relaxing weekend away somewhere to spend time together before bumble arrives. That way I am not trying to make a baby moon out of a 3 day business trip!! X

ABearandABump · 16/03/2019 12:01

Ladies,

What can I take for a cold and a really tight chest? Am I allowed to use the Vicks Vapour Plugs? I've put off even taking paracetamol and been drinking iced water but it's really set into me now 😭😭.

Xx

milly2000 · 16/03/2019 12:17

@ABearandABump I feel your pain I've just come out the other side of a cold.
I was told I could use vicks vapour rub and I found that really helpful at night.
I only took paracetamol at really bad times of the day which for me was the morning and evenings. But only used it for two days, but my gp told me it was perfectly safe, so if you are suffering I would take a couple if it helps.
I also let my shower run hot for 5 minute to make it nice and steamy and that was also helpful.
Hope you feel better soon!

ScotsBaby2 · 16/03/2019 20:12

@Snowflake9 I am leading a school trip to an outdoor centre at 30 weeks pregnant. I'm not doing the activities but at 30 weeks last time I was in the still got energy stage so hoping the same this time. I think you should plan to go. 25 weeks is just the start of the third trimester but it's still a time when you don't feel totally knackered all the time and the tiredness never gets as bad as first trimester.

ScotsBaby2 · 16/03/2019 20:14

@ABearandABump you can use vicks vapour rub and paracetamol. Why are you concerned about taking paracetamol? I thought it was perfectly safe in pregnancy.

Jelliestogether · 16/03/2019 22:33

In an ideal world I think it's best to not take anything in pregnancy....but life happens and sometimes paracetamol is needed! I've taken paracetamol many times during this pregnancy which is perfectly safe. It's not worth feeling terrible for! But for my colds I've just been using vicks rub and paracetamol with hot drinks. I did buy a saline nasal spray which helped clear my nose out quicker too

Fuppy · 16/03/2019 23:12

@ABearandABump I use Karvol capsules, I find them better than Vicks. If you haven't used them, they're a rubbery capsule filled with vicks flavour oil. You can put drops on your top, in a bowl of hot water and towel over to inhale, put in oil burner or on a night time put a few drops on your pillow.
Hot fresh lemon & honey, or hot Ribena I find quite soothing. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

ABearandABump · 16/03/2019 23:58

@Fuppy @Jelliestogether @milly2000 thanks ladies, it's more my chest now than the congestion. Cold air doesn't help but the central heating is just as bad ☹️.

@ScotsBaby2 ah I know, I just hate taking tablets regardless but especially with carrying this little one. I'm going to have to take something because it's starting to hurt my ribs all the coughing.

Xx

Curlywurlywooo · 17/03/2019 11:25

@ABearandABump I feel the same way. I know paracetamol is safe to take, but since being pregnant I just feel extra cautious of everything I put in and on my body! Before being pregnant I would take paracetamol for headache quite often, when I had a cold and sinus pain, etc. Now pregnant I try alternatives first e.g. 4head, relaxing, hot bottle/cold flannel etc to address the cause rather than just use painkillers. Have only taken paracetamol twice so far and I’m halfway through! The amazing thing I’ve noticed is because I so rarely take them, when I do need to, they have a stronger effect, I assume because my body isn’t used to them anymore Confused

Curlywurlywooo · 17/03/2019 11:28

Also sorry I don’t have any tips on managing cold symptoms, apart from the mentholy type stuff that you inhale/vaporub.
I’ve (touch wood) managed to avoid coming down with anything major since beginning of December, I have been making and eating chicken soup (boiled chicken carcass and loads of veggies) and eating lots of citrus and so far whenever I feel a tingle of a cold it disappears within a day or two!

18875hulu · 18/03/2019 16:03

Can I join you please? Due 26th August with DC2 Thanks

Moncwf · 18/03/2019 16:34

Ooh snap @18875hulu I'm due 26th with DC2! Welcome?

bubblegumunicorn · 18/03/2019 16:37

Had our anomaly scan today and we have a little girl 💗 she's growing perfectly 😊

18875hulu · 18/03/2019 17:03

@Moncwf aww congrats! I wonder if we will become September mammas instead, my first was 8 days late!

Moncwf · 18/03/2019 18:16

@18875hulu ah! I hope not! My first was 4 days over. I didn't have a good birth last time so will be doing my best to get this one out at 39 weeks, whether by elective CS or induction!

Snowflake9 · 18/03/2019 18:25

Felt a definite kick on the drive home from work today!! Super exciting.

keebo · 18/03/2019 18:55

@Snowflake9 how exciting! My bump has definitely progressed over the weekend, struggling in my normal work clothes now! On the cold chat, I've had a blocked nose for 2 weeks now but no other cold symptoms (or hayfever ones) so I'm wondering if it's pregnancy rhinitis, the excess mucus. I was reading about it and it said not to worry, it disappears when the baby is born! I'm not sure I can handle a blocked nose (and the corresponding lack of sleep) until August!

QueenofFox · 18/03/2019 19:08

Congrats @bubblegumunicorn lovely news!

I have a blocked nose and constant headache which I've been putting down to constant coldor hay fever but maybe you've found the answer @keebo! I didn't know that was a thing but I think
I've got it. So exhausted from the lack of sleep the last few weeks! I've got some naff aromatherapy oils because I can't take anything but they literally do nothing! Can't wait for some warmer weather as think I will feel better just being warm. Maybe!

Bakingabean · 18/03/2019 21:49

@snowflake9 - eek exciting! It makes it much more real I think.

I promise I'm not a complete weirdo but the othe day I could feel movement and kicks up by my navel so I put my finger in my belly button and pressed downwards and I could feel baby kicking my finger! So cool but also very weird. Felt him up there again today so got DP to have a go and he could feel baby pushing back against his finger too....

Bakingabean · 18/03/2019 21:50

& @bubblegumunicorn can bgrats on the baby girl! Glad your scan went well!

Bakingabean · 18/03/2019 21:51

Obviously meant congrats! (Fat fingers!)

august21 · 19/03/2019 05:24

Hi everybody Smile can I join the group please! I'm due 21st August, my first baby, will find out the sex on 3rd April!

Currently been awake since 3am with knee and hip pain.... Sad This pregnancy malarkey is not that fun! Haha

xxlucybxx · 19/03/2019 07:05

Hi I'm due 1st August, 20 week scan tomorrow. I feel pretty good actually, 2nd trimester feels a breeze compared to 1st.

Feeling the odd kick now which is lovely. I also felt like I had a few near my belly button and thought I was going mad and it shouldn't be that high

What's the Facebook link?? I'm guessing it's completely private and friends won't know I've joined??x
