Hi,

It looks like we filled up the last thread before anyone had a chance to start a new one, so here we go! Hope everyone finds their way over.

@twittlebee could you possibly link to the Google Doc again?

@karigan195 so glad you were seen again and got a bonus scan. Lovely to get a bit of reassurance too, hope the next 7 days go quickly for you.

@hodgeheg92
As far as I could tell ALL the maternity jeans in H&M were skinny jeans when I was looking yesterday

Whisky2014 · 17/02/2019 17:10

Is it ok to have a small glass of wine? I'm 12+4 and not had a sip of alcohol but I really fancy one tonight.

KLane · 17/02/2019 17:21

@Whisky2014 I had the occasional 125ml glass of wine during my pregnancy with DS and he's just fine 😬 From what I've read, drinking slowly and with food is ideal, as it gives the liver time to process the alcohol and it doesn't even reach the baby.

happydays00 · 17/02/2019 17:23

Oh @BBell2 that's so annoying! I would be livid and I also agree totally bizarre behaviour about the sling. My DH referred to something in the future as "with the kids" today; it's the first time he's basically even acknowledged that we're having a second. They are an odd breed at times aren't they?!

I think the worry re sleep deprivation is we know what to expect this time round? Ignorance is very much bliss the first time round! But however bad it is, we will get through it and it will get better!! That's what I keep telling myself anyway.

I got some black skinny jeans from ASOS maternity the other day, very pleased with them!

happydays00 · 17/02/2019 17:24

@Whisky2014 yes I drank very occasionally with meals out when pregnant with DD and both she and I were fine

ChrisPrattsFace · 17/02/2019 17:38

Hi guys!
Can I join?
Due 1st September, many years TTC and successful cycle 2 clomid baby.
I have had two early scans (because of clomid and other health issues!) but I’m petrified about my 12w scan at the end of next week.
Haven’t joined any groups yet as been too scared!
Will have a read through and familiarise myself with everyone!

MunchyMunchkin · 17/02/2019 17:40

Agree with the others that it’s fine to have the odd unit after 12 weeks.

I had the odd glass of Prosecco at weddings and a few drinks across the week on holiday last time. Plan on doing similar this time.
No evidence that the odd unit does any harm at all.

Whisky2014 · 17/02/2019 17:49

Ok great. I'm going to have a white wine Spitzer I think. I love red wine usually but recently when my husband has drunk it the smell is so strong it really put me off!

Megan2018 · 17/02/2019 17:52

I’m not drinking any but this is partly because I would’t be able to limit to 1 small glass-I’d drink the bottle. I was drinking at least 3 bottles a week pre pg, so it’ll do me the world of good to have this time off.
Also I am shit scared that this is my only shot at a baby so being ultra cautious- but I am sure the odd glass is totally fine. MW and GP both said not to though.

I am on alcohol free lager and ice cold elderflower fizz instead!

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/02/2019 17:57

I don't drink often anyway so i wont drink

Had a nap today and could happily nodd off again now. Roll on bedtime.

stroan · 17/02/2019 18:03

I would happily drink the odd small glass of wine after the first 12 weeks, but I couldn’t stomach it! I have enough trouble drinking non alcoholic drinks.

I always miss cocktails most when pregnant, and mock tails are not remotely similar.

I can def stop after 1 drink and won't be making it a regular thing.
Totally understand your reasons Megan, makes sense.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/02/2019 18:15

Has anyone got a feeling about gender of their baby?

I think we may have a girl, so much so i am contemplating telling DP he can name a boy if i can name a girl....

Whisky2014 · 17/02/2019 18:18

I'm certain we are having a boy. Dh wants to find out the sex but im not sure.

DustyDoorframes · 17/02/2019 18:22

I feel so wretched I reckon it's a girl. But I fully expect to be wrong!

KnobJockey · 17/02/2019 18:23

Whisky, I've been debating similar. I absolutely don't fancy it in the slightest at the minute anyway, but it will be hard to resist an ice cold cider in the summer if it's hot like last year. But actually doing that outside and knowing the judgy looks you get might actually stop me.

KnobJockey · 17/02/2019 18:33

I think probably another girl for me.

KnobJockey · 17/02/2019 18:34

But I still can't decide whether to find out. On one hand I want a surprise, on the other hand im tempted to get the harmony test partly so we can know earlier!

ZigZaggyZoo · 17/02/2019 18:36

Hello! I'm here with a tentative wave 👋
I'm around 8 weeks, due at the end of September. I've had 2 early scans already due to spotting so hoping to make it to the dating scan 🤞 Saw a little flickering heartbeat at the last one so I'm starting to build hope!
I'm with you with the fatigue & nausea. Hope you all feel better soon & have happy scans in the coming weeks

TwittleBee · 17/02/2019 18:46

Hello Zig and the other few new comers I noticed join!

On the topic of whether to find out the sex or if we have any ideas on what we will have, DH reckons it's a girl and I think I do too. Wonder if that's maybe because we have a girls name 100% sorted and both have said we would like a little girl but would so totally 100% be happy if it was a boy too.

Megan2018 · 17/02/2019 18:48

I think it’s a boy, DH wants a girl but only because he is scared of a boy due to issues with his relationship with his father.
DH wants to know so we’ve agreed to find out at NIPT.
I’d be happy to wait but also happy to know.
My boss is the only person that knows and she dreamt boy. I have no boy names!

happydays00 · 17/02/2019 18:49

Welcome @ZigZaggyZoo and @ChrisPrattsFace!

@IVEgottheDECAF that really made me laugh and is definitely something I would do (although my DH would definitely see through it ha)

I'm convinced I'm having a boy. I've felt so much better this pregnancy I have convinced myself it's a boy (or there's something wrong, but trying not to consider this really).

stroan · 17/02/2019 18:54

I feel quite strongly that it’s a boy because I’m feeling so bad compared to last time. But then a few people have told me that they had identical pregnancies and had one of each.

The doctor was so surprised that I’m having such a different pregnancy that he asked if it was the same Dad! DNA can make a difference apparently.

Mirardosa · 17/02/2019 18:59

We've already found out from our NIPT that we're having a girl! I feel so different now I know!

happydays00 · 17/02/2019 19:02

@stroan that's really interesting about the DNA! My doctors have all said usually people feel worse with girls because of the additional oestrogen. Have you had a scan yet? Could it be twins??
