Hi,

It looks like we filled up the last thread before anyone had a chance to start a new one, so here we go! Hope everyone finds their way over.

@twittlebee could you possibly link to the Google Doc again?

@karigan195 so glad you were seen again and got a bonus scan. Lovely to get a bit of reassurance too, hope the next 7 days go quickly for you.

@KnobJockey both mine were born under that system, it's brilliant. It's been trialled in my area for about 20 years (I kid you not, I moved here on purpose).
@TwittleBee the midwives usually work in sixes, two groups of three. You can ask to swap to the other three!
@IVEgottheDECAF Noooooo two whole weeks lost???? The first trimester never ends... super yay re the good scan though!

stroan · 13/02/2019 15:06

My last midwife was awful. She kept telling me she didn’t know what to do with me and then forgot to refer us for breastfeeding support when we were really struggling. I was really worried about getting her again, but got a new one! She is amazing and I already owe her a massive thank you for kicking some ass last week and getting me an emergency hospital appointment when o was in a very bad place.

I’m giving birth in a different NHS area - the hospital is closer door to door and more progressive. But where I live has moved to all notes on an app and the hospital still has paper notes. I think I’m giving them all a bit of a headache!

The midwife did run out of space on my booking form to write down all the complications from last time!

@knobjockey Our system is similar in that you're meant to see the same midwife all through and, if she's on shift, she'd attend a home birth. Last time I really didn't like my midwife but fortunately she left half way through my pregnancy. Not sure if I mentioned but the community midwife through my doctors is actually the same one who supported me during the birth of DD. She's on annual leave at the moment but hoping to sort a booking appointment when she's back on Monday.

Lovely scan pic, can't believe the difference a few weeks makes!

happydays00 · 13/02/2019 16:10

Yay to all these lovely scan pics! My NHS scan date has come through and I will be 13+1... feel a bit miffed by that but not totally surprised.

I loved my midwife from my booking in appointment and am hoping I get her all the way through! Not holding my breath as last time it was literally a different one for every appointment.

Fortheloveofscience · 13/02/2019 16:53

Found you all! Lovely to see so many good scan pictures Smile.

KnobJockey we’re dating scan buddies, mine’s on the 8th as well.

I didn’t really have feelings one way or the other about the midwife from my booking in...she was alright but also told me I might need antibiotics for a viral infection Hmm. But as I’m not having a home birth (#1, and I’m totally risk-averse) then I may only see her a couple more times so no point getting too attached!

Question for the horsey people here - what are you doing about the interpretation of ‘heavy lifting’?! As I was carrying round huge heavy sections of haylage yesterday I did wonder whether it was necessarily the best idea in the world....!

Megan2018 · 13/02/2019 17:15

@Fortheloveofscience

I've not changed anything horse wise really - I did wonder as I was lugging feed bags out of the car on Monday night if I should perhaps be more careful though!
Luckily my stable is near the muck trailer so I don't have far to go with heavy barrows.

Barely ridden though - but that is because the weather was horrendous and then the full on tiredness has hit me and I literally can't even contemplate carrying my saddle come 7pm.

I am hoping I'll be feeling fresh as a daisy by the time the clocks change though and can carry on riding until too big to do it. All assuming I get that far obvs....

happydays00 · 13/02/2019 17:49

I think in terms of lifting as long as you're not doing anything new you're fine. Ie if you were lifting bags of feed / haylage before you were pregnant you should be fine to carry on. Obviously when you get bigger it would be less advisable..

jazzyjellybeans · 13/02/2019 18:50

Hey everyone!

Place marking on the new thread. Loving all the scan pics. Sorry to hear some of you are still suffering with nausea.

My scan is a good bit away but we've booked the harmony test for next week.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 13/02/2019 18:56

@DustyDoorframes Thank you! I ended up taking them and the midwife was thrilled as apparently she couldn’t log on to the system Hmm. There wasn’t much left in the file but she found my discharge papers which had the detailed info on last labour and post partum care helpful.

BP was a little on the high side of normal so they want to keep an eye on it. I was v stressed going in as had loads of BP woes last time (but not this early) so that may have contributed, who knows. Great, an extra worry!

DustyDoorframes · 13/02/2019 19:51

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri I've a history of BP issues at the end- they're putting me on aspirin from 10 weeks this time (apparently- still only 7 weeks)
Just read that nausea peaks in week 9. Aaaarghg. At this rate my career will implode before I get there, I'm fundamentally useless at the mo...

daydreamdaisy · 13/02/2019 20:35

Sore boobs a lot less today. Trying not to worry! Just goes to show even a lovely scan doesn't get rid of the nerves Confused

Tefiti2 · 13/02/2019 20:44

@daydreamdaisy how far are you? I noticed when I hit week 11 they definitely got less sore, which is apparently normal as all to do with the placenta kicking in to support the pregnancy rather than high levels of HCG

boodles101 · 13/02/2019 20:49

daydreamdaisy sore boobs have decreased here too. Generally don't feel anything from them until my 2 year olds elbows seem to automatically dig straight in!
I'm struggling with wisdom tooth pain tonight. It's trying it's best to break through every few weeks but not really getting anywhere. I don't like taking tablets as it is but have resorted to paracetamol and using my son's anbesol liquid to hopefully get some sleep tonight!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 13/02/2019 20:54

@DustyDoorframes glad to know I’m not the only one here! The midwife explained that NICE recommend 75mg of aspirin from 12w if you have previous experience of pre-e or HBP. Midwife thought it would be worth me doing that around that time, but I’ll double check with the consultant when I go to the hospital.

DustyDoorframes · 13/02/2019 20:59

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri Yes, that's come in since my last pregnancy. I think I was one of the controls in the study wot proved it, as I'm sure I signed something to say i consented to an aspirin trial, but never had any aspirin!

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/02/2019 21:18

Dusty i am 10w today going off last scan and last week was worst so far sick wise. Not been sick today but felt it lots on and off, yesterday was sick 3 times which is most this pregnancy

My mw at booking told me completely different things than they then said at hospital but tbh i wasn't surprised hospital didnt agree with her. She told me i am perfect for a home birth and mw led care. I went to hospital and was told i need consultant led and def no homebirth. I am not interested in a home birth anyway, too many people live in my house and if anything should go wrong i want to be in hospital.

Megan2018 · 13/02/2019 21:26

I’m having aspirin from 12wks due to being old! Grin

DustyDoorframes · 13/02/2019 21:41

Decaf remember that the midwives usually see things going well, and the consultants usually see things going badly- so they have radically different experiences of how risky birth really is (generally not very risky, these days, thank goodness). But that can explain the quite different takes you get...

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/02/2019 21:44

This was 2 different mws though dusty! I find older mws more cautious about risks. See consultant on 4th so see what she thinks!

ButtonTum · 13/02/2019 21:55

Hi All, marking my place. Not been around much lately as away with work at the moment and finding it hard to keep up with this thread! Congrats to all the recent successful scans! I had one last week at 8+2 but was measured at 8 weeks. Such a relief!

GemmaJen · 14/02/2019 07:26

Good morning all, the scan went well yesterday measuring exactly on dates at 9w. I was a nervous wreck, but thankfully we could see the heartbeat and it was wriggling away. So pleased 😊 though I expected to feel more relaxed afterwards, but it seems my brain is still on the defensive. Hopefully that'll get better after the 12w scan?

So good to see so many healthy scans. Hope everyone gas a good Valentine's Day!

LaBelleSausage · 14/02/2019 13:47

Happy Valentines all! Glad I found you all, can’t belive we’re on the third thread already.

I hope everyone is having a lovely day and all the bumps are doing well.
I’ve definitely popped out a lot earlier this time, can’t wait to be able to tell people are they probably think I’ve had one too many cakes and I’m growing a bit of a pot belly.

Midwife tomorrow morning for booking in, and then it will all start to feel real. Planning to take my notes from last time as I’m not sure I trust the system.

Can’t wait to get my new maternity exemption card, I’ve missed free trips to the dentist! Grin

Megan2018 · 14/02/2019 14:37

@LaBelleSausage
I'm far fatter than that normally anyway! So I think I just look fat from Christmas. I wear dresses and tights to work most days and fortunately they do not draw attention to the stomach area.
It also helps being the wrong side of 40 and childless as I am sure no-one I know would ever suspect anything Wink

LaBelleSausage · 14/02/2019 14:51

I’m sure I’ll get away with it for a bit longer, but I have a few colleagues who have given me slightly knowing looks when I’ve been bringing in smoothies for breakfast rather than having a very large coffee
