Hi,

It looks like we filled up the last thread before anyone had a chance to start a new one, so here we go! Hope everyone finds their way over.

@twittlebee could you possibly link to the Google Doc again?

@karigan195 so glad you were seen again and got a bonus scan. Lovely to get a bit of reassurance too, hope the next 7 days go quickly for you.

I’ve got some stuff from H&M, New Look, ASOS and Matalan.

All online.

I’m dreading the summer as I’m roasting already.

I've looked at maternity wear, I'm plus size so as you can imagine the selection is delightful!

But H&M, Asda, Dorothy Perkins, mothercare all do some nice stuff. I was big all over winter last time so not much of what I had will be much use. It will hopefully get better once the summer stuff comes out too. I'll be living in leggings/cropped leggings and dresses all summer! I like the look of maxi dresses, but only being 5'4" they usually drown me!

Megan2018 · 27/02/2019 14:15

@Florencenotflo
I'm only 5ft 4 too - so I know that feeling!

I am not finding clothes an issue yet- but I wear stretchy dresses to work with opaque tights so they so far have enough give in them - I am hoping to get away with the same work wardrobe through most of 2nd trimester, then get some bits to tide me over the actual Summer. I might need maternity tights but hopefully the rest will stretch!

I imagine my own jeans won't fit for much longer so will probably get some jeans and a few casual tops for weekends - but I am going to look for some 2nd hand bundles too.

Going to try and spend as little as possible though as we need a strict budget - we blew all or savings last year on a house build/move and are broke and I need as much as poss for mat leave.

It is my birthday soon so will ask for vouchers so hopefully anything I do need I can get for near to £0.

DustyDoorframes · 27/02/2019 14:38

megan as you get bigger you might want to keep a few fave stretchy dresses OUT of circulation, they will never be the same again... (yup, bitter experience...)
I've been big in winter and spring, so also ill equipped for summer. Ho hum...

Megan2018 · 27/02/2019 14:47

My main issue is something to ride in - I reckon my breeches are probably not going to fit for long! A suede full seat does not have much stretch in it Grin

happydays00 · 27/02/2019 14:49

I had my scan yesterday and measuring at least 4 days ahead and the sonographer was pretty sure it was a boy! I'll wait until the 20 week scan before I buy anything blue though ha!

I seem to have just popped in the last day or so, it's an indisputable bump which feels very early as I was still just a pile of bloat at this stage last time.

Think the sickness is continuing to ease, still waiting on this tiredness to lift though!

@TwittleBee - thinking of you!

Lavellan · 27/02/2019 14:50

Scan done. Took quite a while as beany kept facing us and rolling around. My dates got moved from 12/3 to 13/1! What, crazy. I'm so chuffed to have pics though.

@Megan2018. Jeggings or slim fit jeans are just fine to ride in. Rarely wear jodhpurs etc myself

@Lavellan congrats :)! Lovely to watch them
bounce isn’t it

Karigan195 · 27/02/2019 14:59

@happydays00 congrats :) and yep I feel quite large now too lol

Stroan · 27/02/2019 15:08

@florencenotflo I’m Plus size too and it’s not easy finding decent stuff that fits and isn’t a tent. Or dresses that aren’t too tight because let’s face it, my bump isn’t just baby!

Yay for good scan news! Congrats both!

GemmaJen · 27/02/2019 15:45

@Megan2018 I'm enjoying Hardyetc riding leggings, they come up small (so worth sizing up) but so comfy 😎

Megan2018 · 27/02/2019 16:16

Thanks @GemmaJen

I am very used to the sticky bum effect from a full seat, they help with madam's 360 spins and unexpected canter-halt transitions - she is good at these! So something with some grip is welcome!

GemmaJen · 27/02/2019 17:07

@Megan2018 well the last thing you want is to fall off 😬 the Hardy's have a grippy seat but I don't think it would compare to a suede seat.

Florencenotflo · 27/02/2019 18:16

@Stroan I've found that yours clothing has some good basics and Asda does have some bits. Bon prix also had some nice bits last time, haven't looked so far.

I'm getting some bits from M&S. Not specific maternity wear, but they have some beach dresses and some long cotton shirt/dresses which I could wear open with leggings and a vest type top. And yes, my usual dresses will probably be ok as they seem to fit around my boobs and are quite loose around my stomach area.

Mumtobe89 · 27/02/2019 18:51

So pleased to hear everyone's good scan news.
Had ours today too 11+1 which is around what I thought and all looks good. Back in 2 weeks for the nuchal measurement and blood test so excited to see baby again.
It was amazing and very surreal!

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/02/2019 20:39

tefeti i get that every night! The lump! Have done for past week or so! I am 12weeks but baby 5

BBell2 · 27/02/2019 20:48

@Florencenotflo I was the same with DD, induced, clip on her head and then taking bloods from her (which was the worst biting labour, we both passed out) and I could move other than a few trips to the toilet. Was in from Wednesday eve to having her Friday and nil by mouth and prepped for surgery for most of it. Anything to avoid the same again, i dont think she was ready to come out!

DustyDoorframes · 27/02/2019 20:57

Oh my god @BBell2 how can you labour on nil by mouth!!! It's like setting you up to have a hard time!! It's like running a marathon on nil by mouth!!

Karigan195 · 27/02/2019 21:05

@BBell2. Omg I had the same with my son. They left me hanging for at least two days without food. Had to fight to be allowed a sherbert lemon!

ColdCottage · 27/02/2019 23:02

What do they use the date on? Does the one from the booking in appointment not stay there?

ColdCottage · 27/02/2019 23:05

I didn't think they could sex at 12 weeks??

Megan2018 · 28/02/2019 03:31

@ColdCottage
The NIPT screening gives sex from 10 weeks, its a blood test for fetal DNA

happydays00 · 28/02/2019 07:06

@BBell2 and @Karigan195 I was the same! Nil by mouth and from Monday to Thursday whilst waiting for a c section. When they took me down to break my waters and try to induce me again they realised how dehydrated I was and I was hooked up to bags of fluid for my whole labour! Disaster and not an experience I'm willing to repeat this time!!

Karigan195 · 28/02/2019 07:54

Yes that’s exactly what I want to avoid this time too!
