Hi,

It looks like we filled up the last thread before anyone had a chance to start a new one, so here we go! Hope everyone finds their way over.

@twittlebee could you possibly link to the Google Doc again?

@karigan195 so glad you were seen again and got a bonus scan. Lovely to get a bit of reassurance too, hope the next 7 days go quickly for you.

Oh twittle really really thinking of you. Just horrid. Keeping my fingers so so crossed.
Good luck karigan!
And get well soon poorly people.
My mum is here so I am lolling while she entertains my youngest...

Stroan · 25/02/2019 10:15

Thinking of you today Twittle, and keeping everything crossed. I know it’s not as simple as demanding a scan, but I really hope they give you one.

The EPU made me wait four day after a big bleed with DD. I booked a private one because I couldn’t handle the stress of the wait.

@TwittleBee Thinking of you! Can you book into a private scan if EPAU won't see you? Hugs!

Tefiti2 · 25/02/2019 11:03

Oh @twittlebee I so understand your anxiety, really sorry you’re going through this. I’m echoing what others have said - if EPU are arrogant can you book a private scan?

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/02/2019 11:26

Kind of wondering the point of the EPU if they wont see you twittle!

Megan2018 · 25/02/2019 11:57

It does seem odd - it seems to be quite easy to get referred here based on friends experiences. You can't self refer but as long as your GP or midwife arranges it most people seem to get seen within 24hrs unless it is out of hours.
I guess it is like everything though - NHS is wildly inconsistent.

Anyway - still thinking of you @Twittlebee

TwittleBee · 25/02/2019 12:35

Yup - as suspected. The next available spot they have isn't until Monday unless its an emergency and apparently I am not bleeding enough to be seen on their emergency scans on Friday. I cant see them on their walk in clinics as I havent been referred by my MW (who is away) and havent had enough MCs (only had 2) to self refer for them. So I have been told to wait till my dating scan on Monday as they cant do anything anyway.

Tempted to take the afternoon off as feeling so rough with the cramps but I have an easy day in the office really and need to save up my sick days in case this is another MC

I cant afford a private scan, they are all £95 around here and not even that close to where I live either tbh!

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/02/2019 12:45

Twittle that is terrible Sad

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/02/2019 12:47

Are there any other epus you could get to?

Megan2018 · 25/02/2019 12:53

@TwittleBee
have you tried your GP? Mine is brilliant (helps that she has just had a baby herself) - they might refer you as emergency?
How hard for you to have to wait - I'd take the time off, sod work.

TwittleBee · 25/02/2019 12:54

I dont think so, next nearest one would be 40 minutes away and I am certainly out of catchment - they would wonder why I am not just attending my own one?

I know that I was turned away at a Pregnancy Triage Unit when I was in my 3rd trimestert with DS and away for the weekend, I had blood and reduced movements so went to the nearest Triage (as advised by my MW) but they told me I needed to travel back home to attend my own Triage Unit!

TwittleBee · 25/02/2019 12:55

@Megan2018 Gp wont see me today now as you have to ring up at 8am to get an appointment. Even if I do get one tomorrow, I know that EPU will just say same thing to my GP about me waiting. Honestly, EPU here can be so shit. When I had my MMC I had to wait 2 weeks to have the ERPC!

Megan2018 · 25/02/2019 12:58

Anyone on here been prescribed aspirin? My MW seemed to suggest it was standard now to reduce pre-eclampsia/still birth if you are old/have dodgy blood pressure (I have both).

I am meant to take it from 12 wks until delivery, picking up prescription later although don't need it for another week.

I think the dose I have been given is 75mg daily. Does that sound right? Bit scared of taking it but going to trust the advice!

Stroan · 25/02/2019 13:00

Oh Twittle, that’s awful.

Could you ask to speak to an on-call GP? We have a similar set up with ours but they always have an on-call GP for emergencies. In the past, they’ve sorted prescriptions for me over the phone or decided whether to see DD. If they had something like that, they could maybe refer you without you having to get an appointment.

Megan2018 · 25/02/2019 13:01

That's terrible!
I could just turn up at my GP's and they'd see me as an emergency there and then - we share our surgery with another village so it is part time in ours, part-time about 6 miles away but you can always been seen same day at either site- you just might have to hang about. My GP said to call her anytime in working hours with any worries.

We are so lucky here! It is rural and a bit old fashioned but better staffed than a lot of areas it seems.

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/02/2019 13:03

It might be worth looking at nearby epus online, i know there is one in manchester which is a 24 hour walk in and there is no mention on their website of it needing to be your hospital

TwittleBee · 25/02/2019 13:08

The next nearest one is linked with my local one so I know it will have the same policies (funnily enough, the company I work for offers them Consultancy advice...)

I am just going to wait till Monday. I dont want to push it and make myself more stressed. I do have a really good week ahead planned so just going to focus on the here and now

Karigan195 · 25/02/2019 13:51

Apart from the cramps do you otherwise seem ok today though?

Crossing fingers it’s just one of those things and baby’s fine.

Karigan195 · 25/02/2019 13:54

And now out of first trimester worry. Onto 20 week scan worry instead lol.

Baby very bouncy. Would not lie still for crown to rump measurement so they measured head in the end. 13 weeks 4 days so gained another day.

TwittleBee · 25/02/2019 13:57

ohhh yay glad it went well for you Karigan !! and always feels good to gain another day too!

To answer your question, I have been having spotting for past couple days as well as the cramps. And i know someone on here said cervix position isnt reliable BUT it is so low and so open and only last week it was almost impossible to reach and closed. I know I shouldnt be stressing about monitoring it but old habits die hard etc and this whole cervix thing, spotting and cramping happened last MMC.

Karigan195 · 25/02/2019 14:02

Yeah it’s me that said it’s not reliable.

Spotting can be ok so I’m just going to keep furiously crossing my fingers for you! I really hope Monday goes well

Megan2018 · 25/02/2019 14:05

@Karigan195 - wow! Brilliant scan, isn't it amazing how much they change in a short time. So what is your new EDD?
I am sat here jumping out my skin every time my phone goes - I know it is too early for NIPT results but can't help it.

Karigan195 · 25/02/2019 14:07

29.8.19 is new due date. :)

Karigan195 · 25/02/2019 14:08

I only got an email btw. I hope yours are back soon and good results

TwittleBee · 25/02/2019 14:14

Thank you Karigan - wont know what to do with myself if it is another MC as DH said he cant go through TTC again if it was another MC

FX you hear soon Megan !
