Hi,

It looks like we filled up the last thread before anyone had a chance to start a new one, so here we go! Hope everyone finds their way over.

@twittlebee could you possibly link to the Google Doc again?

@karigan195 so glad you were seen again and got a bonus scan. Lovely to get a bit of reassurance too, hope the next 7 days go quickly for you.

Is that from the NT scan whisky?

iano · 22/02/2019 16:09

Thanks @stroan I suspect they missed it with my last pregnancy. My bloods have come up with high sugar levels and I have my test on Monday. Bit nervous about not eating for that long and then travelling to the hospital... fingers crossed.

Whisky2014 · 22/02/2019 16:28

@lavellan it was NT and a blood test I think..from my 12 week scan

stroan · 22/02/2019 16:35

@iano do you have any indicating factors?

The GTT itself isn’t too bad, take something to read as it’s a lot of waiting around. Looking back, the follow up with the diabetes clinic was absolutely horrific - they told us all that we had harmed our babies by overeating which isn’t at all true. So I want to avoid that as much as I can while keeping on track of it myself. If you get a positive result, there’s food websites with lots of advice and support.

@Astret I'm very relieved to hear that feeling 'loose' in the abdominal area can be down to hormones. I'm 11+ 5, second pregnancy and either showing/bloated or suddenly fat and flabby 😳

I bought an aircon unit for DDs room last summer as it was like an oven so plan on either stealing that (we're moving house before summer so she will no longer be sleeping in said oven). Terrified it will be as hot as last summer, I just don't know how we'll cope.

Karigan195 · 22/02/2019 17:05

Mines definitely a bump now but 13 weeks now too. Things like sex have got noticeable easier now baby is lifting out the pelvis a bit.

Also a definite decrease in the morning sickness etc although every now and then it’s striking still.

iano · 22/02/2019 17:42

@stroan yes I have indicating factors.

I wouldn't be surprised if they told me I'm overeating. Grin I'm hungry all the time. I feel like I'm starving straight after a meal. Almost as if eating makes me more hungry. Not good...

I'll have a look out for websites once I get the results.

stroan · 22/02/2019 17:55

@iano I’m definitely overeating as eating lots of snacks stops the nausea being so bad. But, you don’t cause gestational diabetes by overeating, or by anything that you do!

I didn’t know that in my last pregnancy and the guilt was horrendous.

I'm going to have a bath but I'm worried. How do you know if its too hot? I dont have a thermometer! Last twice I think I was too cautious and made it too cold and had to get our after 10 mins cause i was getting cold.

iano · 22/02/2019 18:01

@stroan thank you very much for your tips. I've been feeling a bit down about it. Hopefully everything is ok.

I'd just have a normal temperature bath. I'm guessing if it's too hot you'd feel uncomfortable...

Karigan195 · 22/02/2019 18:04

Ugh I had a bath the other day. Going to stick to showers from now on. I must have had it too hot as felt sick and dizzy for ages after. Wasn’t even in there long!

I think it’s going to be so it doesn’t raise your core temperature too much.

Whisky2014 · 22/02/2019 18:06

But I want to be cosy!

SuperNoodley · 22/02/2019 18:10

I was due to have a scan and my NIPT this afternoon but there was an accident on the motorway so I missed it. I'm absolutely heartbroken as I'd spent a while mentally preparing myself due to a previous MMC. I've rebooked for Tuesday evening and have my NHS dating scan next week too so it's all in the diary fortunately, just feel down and a bit rubbish for missing this chance.

Karigan195 · 22/02/2019 18:14

How awful. I know the pain of that wait but don’t worry it will be Tuesday before you know it and I’m sure little bean is fine

SuperNoodley · 22/02/2019 18:25

Thank you @Karigan, I'm just so worried now as it means my NIPT scan and nhs scan will only be three days apart. I'm concerned it's too close but if I reschedule nhs one then I'll end up right at the 14 week end of the timeframe.

Whisky2014 · 22/02/2019 18:35

Can scans be too close?
I'm sure it will all be fine. Try not to worry!

TwittleBee · 22/02/2019 18:52

You really can't have scans too close don't worry. Many women have to be monitored super closely, especially early on when having reassurance scans. Anyway, scans are done with sound waves and are not xrays too.

SuperNoodley · 22/02/2019 18:58

Thank you @whisky and @Twittlebee, I think I may be overthinking it too much.

Megan2018 · 22/02/2019 19:43

@SuperNoodley
The only downside to having your scans close together is that you won’t not have your NIPT results first. But it really doesn’t matter.
I hope to have my NIPT back on or before Friday 1st March and NHS scan is 9:30 Monday 4th, so tight! I’m just hoping to be able to tell people after NHS scan if NIPT ok. Of course we might have to wait for CVS hich will bugger that plan up!

Karigan195 · 22/02/2019 20:03

I decided to tell people after the NIPT since at the second attempt baby was looking fine at 11 weeks 5 days. Decided 2 days would not make a massive difference.

SuperNoodley · 22/02/2019 20:08

Thanks @Megan, I feel somewhat foolish for declining the nhs testing now. They said I have to have the nhs dating scan in order to be added to their records and plot a growth chart. If I decline then I can't give birth at the hospital. Unfortunately I didn't realise this when I declined the NT and bloods and booked the private tests & scan otherwise I would have accepted and done it all at the same time. I feel NIPT is the right option for me and they need a dating scan to confirm dates at the time of testing hence having both. Just hoping the bean will be okay with the two scans three days apart.

Hsunshine · 22/02/2019 20:45

@whisky2014 how long did it take to get your results back?

Whisky2014 · 22/02/2019 20:48

Hsunshine 10 days. Had test a week past Tues and letter came in post today. I think midwife said "within 2 weeks" so she was correct :)

Megan2018 · 22/02/2019 21:23

@SuperNoodley
I know of a sonographer who scanned herself most days when pregnant so I don’t think you can have too many!

excitednerves · 22/02/2019 21:57

Hi all. I haven’t been around much recently so just catching up.

@stroan did you have your repeat 12 week scan yet?
