Hope this works....! Here's hoping July is the month for

  • proper bumps not fat looking tummies
  • feeling them move!

claraq I didn't realise the flooding was so bad until I saw the news last night! Hope you're ok. Are you going to move out for a bit?

Poor suey2! Sorry you have a busy day

buzzybee · 24/07/2007 10:36

Hey Suey don't apologise, we all have bad days. I saw physio today but forgot to ask about those baby carriers. Have another appointment next Tue tho. I seem to have had an upsurge of hormones over the last few days - back to feeling tired and slightly nauseous, not nice - you have my sympathy! Off to bed for me now - 9.30pm here.

BeachBunni · 24/07/2007 10:55

My sympathies to anyone who is caught in the floods. They look absolutely horrendous. I can't believe the government is talking about builing more houses on flood plains.
It's great that everyone is starting to feel those little movements. I'd stressed a bit before my scan because I hadn't felt much but when I took my notes home I realised the mw had put down anterior placenta. Then on Sunday night my stomach went mad for a bit. Felt like a little nerve twiching at the start and then my stomach jumped up and down so I could see it. I couldn't stop laughing. I'd been in bad form before but it instantly put me into a good mood.

suey2 · 24/07/2007 11:01

oo yes sorry to everyone in floods- london quite nice and sunny at the weekend

mixedmama · 24/07/2007 11:08

Must be awful... I cant even begin to imagine. Hope everything works out for you all.

Mrswizz · 24/07/2007 11:42

I'm getting sharp pains in my pelvis and right hip area, like a stab and then gone. Have had it for 2 days on an off. Anyone else get these? Could it be ligament pain? I've had the normal stretchy, achey ligament thing on my bump but this feels different.

Put myself on the list, hope you don't mind everyone.

I had that the other night mrsmizz in exactly the same place. I put it down to the fact I'd maybe pulled something as I'd spent the whole day cleaning the house.

mixedmama · 24/07/2007 11:54

Hi

I think it is round ligament pain... I also have this pain and have done for a few weeks... at times i have even woken up in the night with the pains and had to get on all fours until it passes. I get them about 10 times throughout the day.

If you are worried ask your midwife... I am seeing mine tomorrow and it is on my list of things to ask, so will let you know what she says. i dont remember these with DS so they do stress me a little as I would have thought everything stretching the first time around would have been more painful.

dundeemarmalade · 24/07/2007 11:54

Just updating...
still here, lurking and reading, smiling at all our jiggling bumps and sympathising with aches, pains and itchy insect bites (got a spray from tesco with menthol in it which was quite good).

Thanks Mixedmama and Beachbunni. You've put my mind at rest a little.

mixedmama · 24/07/2007 12:55

Th eonly worrying thing for me is that when I googled Round Ligament Pains it said that they are normally on the right hand side, mine have all been on the left so going to mention that tomorrow - that is my only concern about them really.

suey2 · 24/07/2007 13:11

thanks for bringing up the pain- i have had it too and can be quite sharp- last 2 days only.

claraq · 24/07/2007 13:43

Hi everyone - although we are not actually caught up in the floods (thank goodness) we are caught up in the knock-on effects of having no water - possibly for TWO WEEKS!! There are little blue bowsers everywhere and people wandering around with buckets, it would be quite funny if it wasn't so awful. Anyway we are doing the sensible thing and are off to stay with my parents tomorrow for a while. Not sure they'll appreciate us (especially a marauding toddler) for two weeks though .

There is an awful story on the news of a women who went into early labour with twins - she was only 21 weeks (same as me), the RAF took her to Cheltenham hospital but the twins did not survive. It is so hard hearing stories like this, especially when you are pregnant yourself. I am not sure if the stress of the situation, eg the flooding, brought on early labour.

My EDD moved from 6 Dec to 1 Dec following the 12 week nuchal scan but only just got round to updating. In all truth I think it is probably about 3 Dec but am not going to niggle over a few days.

Everyone who is getting little pains, this sounds very normal to me, I had it all through last pregnancy and already in this one too. Always worth getting anything you are not sure about checked out though. When pg with dd I asked my obstetrician about one pain and ended up having an additional scan at about 28 weeks just to make sure everything was ok. It was, but it was then that we found out DD was breech and kept an eye on this - she never did turn and thanks to that extra scan I was able to have an elective rather than emergency c-section!

Sorry for long rambling post! Must start thinking about packing....

mixedmama · 24/07/2007 14:02

Claraq - good move going to stay elsewhere, I hope it doesnt hit you though. That is awful about the ladies twins, bought tears to my eyes.

MotherofZ · 24/07/2007 14:26

mixedmama - I've been having the pain on my left hand side too, went to see the midwife about it and see said it's just normal and it should go - but that was 3 weeks ago! Am not due to see m/w until end of Setember now! How long way away is that - but if it becomes unbearable will make an appointment.

Neuro · 24/07/2007 14:38

sorry to hear about the various ladies in pain.

Maybe some retail therapy AND Green and Black's chocolate? It has tons of anti-oxidants.

Even though I am a bit skint (the week before payday lull) I just bought a Wedgewood plate (for the kitchen wall) and a small wooden Japanese doll. I'm sure both are going to be really useful!

I've got lots of peeps now offering me their old but nearly new baby stuff so going to spend weekend looking at other peoples things.

My little baby is tickling me right now. It keeps making me laugh, it's so lovely.

Claraq and other ladies - this is not the time to be listening to sad tales of babies not making it. Look after yourselves primarily and don't think of things like that. It's too scary. My doctor told me when i had a miscarriage that when these things happen it is usually nature taking it's course. Horrid but true.

My Wedgewood plate is SO pretty! It's white with a green flowery pattern and a nice bird on it. I don't really like clutter, but i do like a good plate or two!

Ha ha. I feel a bit nutty today.

Hugs for everyone! And chocolate! And pretty things.

The End

mimicakey · 24/07/2007 14:55

Neuro, I love those plates! The gaudier (sp?) the better! MIL gave me a really old coffee set a while back that she's never dared to use. It's really fiddly and OTT, white and gold. DH has his espresso in one of the cups!

dundeemarmalade · 24/07/2007 15:02

neuro - you do make me laugh! i hope you're going to eat your chocolate off your wedgewood plate. i've just raided the baking box for chocolate and hurrah hurrah have found a box of ice-cream type flakes. oh joy.

re. ligament pain - all i can say is ouch, ouch ouch. mine kicked in really badly when we were going through security at manchester airport a fortnight ago - hobbled through the scanner bent over to one side, and i think the 'lovely' security lady must have thought i was either mad or dangerous cos i got pulled out and frisked. nice. my 'pregnancy for dummies' reassuringly says round ligament pain really hurts. they're not wrong. anyone know how long it lasts?

Mrswizz · 24/07/2007 15:03

Neuro, Green & Blacks? That's my kind of pain relief! Great idea.

Neuro · 24/07/2007 15:20

Mimicakey FAUX SHOCK HORROR. GAUDY? ME?

nah...it's one of the new-ish Jasper Conran ones - green and white designs. So pretty. Quite Japanesey.

Your old set sounds fab. There's something lovely about drinking tea or coffee out of a correct vessel. At work I have a bone china cup and boy does it make the tea taste better.

I did see today in a shop The Most Perfect tea cup and saucer. Totally white, no pattern, the thinnest bone china you can get, been day dreaming about having a cup of tea in it. And having some green and blacks on my new Wedgewood.

Just call me Lady Neuro. Or grandma!

la la la.

funkybumps · 24/07/2007 15:30

Hi, responding to the pain some of you have been talking about. If it is much worse than you're normal uncomfortable stretching pains, it most probably is your ligaments. I think you can buy bump supports that should really help with this as it;s when your body is stretching faster than the ligaments whch is why you get sharp pains. Bump supports apparently really help to ease this prob but you're probably best to get it checked out first though. Hope it eases soon and hope you don't mind me joining this post !

peanutbutter · 24/07/2007 15:33

dundeemarmalade I don't know if my experience is the rule, but I continued to have ligament pain even after having given birth to my ds - even to this day (though obviously I'm pregnant again so it's happening more often again now) if I cough or turn round abruptly or awkwardly in bed, then I can occasionally pull something in that area and it's just as painful as it was in pregnancy.

This might just be me though...would be interesting to hear what others' experiences have been

funkybumps · 24/07/2007 15:35

Yeah I've heard it can continue for up to a year after giving birth. Saying that though, my sister in law had terribly trouble right up until the birth and then just completely vanished so fingers crossed .

BeachBunni · 24/07/2007 15:41

lol dundeemarmalade - that's the book I thought of too when everyone mentioned round ligament pain this morning. I bought it when I just found out and was only 4 wks pregnant - how scarey to think that was 17 wks ago. In the same time again we could be making the big trip to the hospital.

Must get back to my tidying - think nesting instinct - or sheer panic that we haven't done anything is kicking in. Currently gutting out the spare room/ soon to be nursery.
