Neuro, sounds like one to me. I felt my first at around 15 weeks and this is my first pg. I thought it felt a bit like wind, but something told me it wasn't. I'm sure you'll begin to feel more quite soon and you'll know its the baby. Lovely isn't it.

I've made an apppointment to see midwife on Thurs as i don't know why but i'm desperate to hear the heartbeat again. I feel a bit silly as reallly nothing is wrong, but as i'm on my own, it is a bit lonely-fying when you want to turn someone and say 'i can't feel anything'.

Cheltenham. We don't have it so bad here, but are surrounded by disaster areas. I am thinking of going to stay with my parents if the water goes (they reckon won't be back on until the weekend) but lots of the roads out are blocked at the moment.....And there is still the possibility that the power will also go

Poor you Claraq, hope you're on high ground. I know that area very well, I grew up near Stroud.

Luckily we are not in an area which has been or will be flooded. Gloucester has it really bad, as does Tewkesbury and Evesham. But lots of knock-on effects, eg the loss of water, they are shutting hospitals for all but emergencies, the roads are a nightmare etc.
But at the moment sitting pretty, just watching and waiting.

gosh what a nightmare claraq - at least you have escaped. My friend lives on that road in Sheffield they kept showing on the news that was knee-high in water. Said she tried to get her face on the telly but had no luck!

hello everyone! It's been a week since I last logged on and so much has been said on the thread I can hardly keep up - so just a simple congratulations to those who've had scans and good results from tests etc

Claraq - i was interested to hear what your consultant said about VBAC. Do you feel a bit more confident about it now? I'll be seeing the consultant next week at my 20wk scan so I imagine I'll be told much the same as you.

Very interesting to hear what people are doing about slings/double buggies/buggy boards. We're very lucky in that my best friend is loaning us their double buggy, and one of my local mum friends is giving me her baby carrier but I was a bit concerned about what beanstermummy said about the lo kicking in exactly the same place as the CS scar - ouch

Well I had a fab time at the beauty spa last week - an hour long deluxe facial and a pedicure. Thought i'd be bored brainless but it was really lovely and relaxing and my hobbits feet toes look almost pretty now

I'm pretty much wearing only maternity stuff now except for tops for work which are still okay to get away with for now. I got my first hard kick on Friday night and i was so taken by surprise and so moved by it that I burst into snotty tears and made dh laugh his head off. I can only describe the feeling as a mixture of relief, love, excitement and that "Oh shitty shit! there's really a baby in there!!!"

peanutbutter - HOW on earth could any woman be bored in a beauty spa with all that nothingness to do except float around and have nice things done to you.

I want to go and live in one.

I earn half what i used to since giving up the 'career job' (ie long hours, overly stressed every day and no time for relaxing) and so can't afford facials anymore. boo hoo

Still, more time to spend navel gazing, literally!!!

Desperate assistance required. Have several insect bites today - not sure how, think mossie. Can I take anti histomine whilst pregnant. No longer have box for tablets so can't tell.

Have three on ankle and one on elbow - driving me potty.

Any suggestions to releive itching would be so gratefully received!

The general advice that, to be safe, no active form of drug or medication should be taken during pregnancy is good advice, unless it is either prescribed or recommended by a doctor or it forms a necessary part of treatment for an ongoing medical condition. This is especially true during the first trimester (the first 12 weeks of pregnancy), when the critical period of foetal development takes place.
Although allergic-type symptoms can be distressing and irritating ? like those resulting in hay fever, for example ? nearly all of the antihistamines available (and there are over 24 branded names) are either contraindicated or must be used with special precautions during pregnancy. Antihistamines really are best avoided, and I am sure you would feel happier doing so.

If the symptoms are really bothering you, go and get advice from your doctor. The use of local topical treatments ? which you may have used for skin irritations resulting from allergies ? would certainly be safer. In the case of severe allergic reactions, your doctor will always be able to use adrenaline or some other treatment.

Neuro lol at wanting to go live in a beauty spa. They usually bore me rigid (I'm not good on having strangers touch me, esp massage and stuff) but it really was lovely.

I'm nearly 19 weeks now and havent felt another kick like that since Friday night. Definitely part of the tearfulness was to do with outright shock

For bites: anthisan (pale yellow tube with picture ofbug on it) is a good ointment. Germolene has a local anaesthetic in it....

Hey Neuro so glad to hear you're feeling less anxious. Yes def sounds like you felt the baby! Exactly the right spot, still fairly low down (for me at least).

Hope none of you or your families have really wet feet. So much for summer huh? Its winter here but today was gorgeous. Has been absolutely feezing recently tho so nice to thaw out a bit.

tiger balm for bites- makes them feel hot, but the itching stops.
Woke up feeling sick last night and had to get up for a couple of hours and lots of peppermint tea. Am also trying to wean myself off earplugs (DH snores) but ears very painful which also woke me up. 15 patients today and just want to sleeeeeeeppp.
