Hope this works....! Here's hoping July is the month for

  • feeling them move!

Sitting here reading about all your summer sales made me feel jealous as it would be great for me to get summer stuff on sale now! So then I finally got up the courage to go and dig out the bag of old baby clothes at the back of DD's wardrobe and guess what? Not only were there loads of largely unisex baby clothes in there (mostly around 6 mth age tho) but also a couple of maternity things I'd forgotten I still had!! (some black pants and a T-shirt so still eminiently useable). So have chucked the lot into the washing machine and feel quite chuffed. Hadn't bought anything yet anyway as felt too early and don't know sex but now at least I have a decent feel for what I will need.

buzzybee · 22/07/2007 06:41

I have just read thru this thread about BF vs FF and its very sad but also very thought provoking. Hopefully none of us will suffer these awful feelings of guilt and depression if we decide not to BF. Thought some of you might be interested too.

On a brighter subject the clean-out of DD's old baby clothes made me desperate to go out and buy something NEW for this one even though I don't know sex yet. So I did!! First purchase this PG, actually feels really positive.

suey2 · 22/07/2007 08:55

Thanks for support girls
Have finished HP- don't worry, no spoiler here(- why do people need to do that?- )and it was dead good.
Had a nice glass of red wine last night when out with pals- yummy!I think i am just getting a bit paranoid about others' reaction after reading and contributing to another thread

buzzybee · 22/07/2007 09:20

Suey I lived in a tiny 2br flat in London with no garden but opposite a nice park. When DD was 8 months decided to return to NZ for a better life. Since been back have lived in houses, of which the biggest garden was about 100SQM (not that big) and I currently have a completely paved courtyard. I'd say the park opposite the London flat was better than all of these - the only diff being that your own garden can be accessed directly off the house and without supervision after a while. I now live down the road from a school with a big field and adventure playground which is open to public use and I LOVE the fact I don't have any lawn to mow. I have just bought a vinyl covered foam mat off NZ's eBay which I plan to use in the courtyard when baby is little. When s/he starts crawling will probably have to head down the road a bit more often but I'm perfectly happy with that compromise and I love my house to bits.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 22/07/2007 10:10

Morning girls!! Does anyone else still feel really fat even though the bumps are coming?

My jelly belly from first two is just lying on top of the bump and makes me feel massive

Really not likng pregnancy this time round, feels like time is standing still!

Hope your all ok xxx

cazzybabs · 22/07/2007 10:22

You know Pecka I am not enjoying so much this time either and I love being pregnant.

The baby is really really low down and kicking me right in the pelvis. I need the toilet every two minutes (or so it seems). I can't seem to drink enough and evnd up wiuth headaches from being dehydrated. If I have to stand up for too long, espeically if it is hot (like at a wedding or in a queue) I nearly faint - moan moan moan...

RavenclAwen · 22/07/2007 16:24

Only got HP today and cant be bothered to start it yet Been shoopping for ours as on hols next weekend and knacered.

Pecka - totally understand about the jelly belly, I have one too hoping bump will stretch it out.

Pretty sure bean is a geek as wriggling round now am on laptop. Makes me giggle as so fluttery.

thelady · 22/07/2007 16:40

Well, Tadpole seems to have skipped the 'wiggle' stage and gone straight to full blown kicking! Enough to make me twitch, in fact - the closest I can come is the feeling when your underwear elastic has got twisted and untwists with a 'snap!' unexpectedly....

Can someone who's going through this for the second/more time answer a question: should my boobs be leaking already ? Not much, but definitely little drops of slightly opaque liquid coming out of the nips....

Off to make dinner in a mo (macaroni cheese tonight as I simply can't be bothered) and then stand in the pub for another 5 hours. Yawn!

suey2 · 22/07/2007 19:47

mine too, the lady- LOOK AWAY IF SQUEAMISH- slightly crusty nipples when going to bed, and it looks like someone has been using my areolae for a pin cushion

claraq · 23/07/2007 09:02

I remember my boobs started leaking quite early on last time, although only at night. Not yet this time (am 21 weeks) but I am sure it will start soon. Strangely enough this did not seem to relate to how much milk I eventually produced as don't think I was ever massively over-productive!

We are going to be without water soon thanks to the flooding. But at least I don't live in the really bad areas of town and some of the surrounding towns. I feel very sorry for all those people who have been flooded out, now have no water and some have no power either. Nightmare.

skidaddle · 23/07/2007 09:21

hello everyone - just read that thread on ff/bf buzzy - it is so awful that people are made to feel so guilty for ff, really heartbreaking. I would definitely reccommend that any first-timers read it - best to be prepared for all eventualities i suppose.

pecka - yes me too with the jelly belly - sure it was nice and hard first time round..

congrats on your scans beachbunni and chocolatepeanut - well done for holding out and not asking the sex beachbunni and congrats on baby boy cp

mad4girls - 100 quid on baby clothes !!! what did you dp say?

had a horrible w/e listening to my sil screaming orders at her dds and my lovely brother - hope it isn't a consequence of having more than one child... no, think she did it when it was just her and my brother

MotherofZ · 23/07/2007 09:25

Good morning all!!
How are you all today! I've had such a good nights sleep over the weekend (as opposed to have about three weeks of waking up at night due to bad nasal congestion), feel full of life and energy!
By the way went to the doctors on Fri, to see if he could give anything for my nasal congestion and he presribed me this spray, which he said was ok for pregnant women to use, but only sparingly as it can go into the blood stream. What on earth does that mean???!!!
I checked the spray out on two seperate websites and one said not suitable for pregnant women and then other mentioned something about testing on mice and no adverse reactions.
Totally confused now??!!

MotherofZ · 23/07/2007 09:28

mad4girls - went mad in the next sale aswell and spent 200 on clothes for dd, bean, hubby and household. Only bought a handbag for myself!!

mimicakey · 23/07/2007 09:55

Morning All, had my scan on Friday and we're having a girl, hooray! We didn't mind either way but just really pleased to be able to find out; I was sure babycakey would be awkward. Might start buying stuff now, heehee! But I need to clear out a drawer first to keep it in, how dull.

suey2 bet you wish you'd never let us know you're a physio!! Have you come across any good books on preparing the body for childbirth and how to get back in shape after? Or anyone else for that matter?

A friend of mine is having a c section this morning after the most nightmare pregnancy so think happy thoughts for her please!

skidaddle · 23/07/2007 10:09

congrats mimicakey!! girls are lovely (boys too) - can't wait to find out what we're having

mixedmama · 23/07/2007 10:22

Morning ladies,

Anybody else still being sick... it is driving me round the bend. 17 weeks and still being sick at least twice a day and last night was convinced I was going to faint.

Good to see you all had a good weekend, good news on all the scans.

I didnt read all of the BF/FF thread, good to see I was not the only one.

suey2 · 23/07/2007 10:23

oo yes, mimicakey- I ahve a good one at home- I think it is called exercises for pregnancy and childbirth and i got it from blackwell's website- will check when i get home. It is 'layman friendly' i got it to double check the no-nos. Must also check if it has all the stuff on perineal massage to prevent episiotomy etc- will get back to you. Don't worry about asking me- it will make me a better physio to ahve more people's experiences

mad4girls · 23/07/2007 10:26

he didnt mind and gave me half think he feeling bad as he didnt give me the cash to pay off our holiday as promised so the cash had to come from some cash i saved for new flooring in the dining room, so not too impressed but has to be paid before end of the month, and im reall looking forward to the holiday to be honest havent had one this year.

skidaddle- spending £100 on baby clothes not too bad as there all from 3-12 mths so hoping i wont need to buy much once our lo is born as we will be skint then. just plannin ahead a cant help it, i get anxious if everything isnt in order, going to buy school uniform today before all the good stuff gone.

skidaddle · 23/07/2007 10:49

mad4girls- oh sorry didn't realise it was for the first 12 months - that's a real bargain in that case. Must say I'm a bit tempted to and have a look myself now - I do like a bargain..

Neuro · 23/07/2007 11:30

hello everyone
please can someone confirm whether I am feeling flutterings or not. This is my first bubba, so i dont' know. I had thought a week or two ago that i felt something, but think that was now wind!
However, i was just sat very still talking to my boss and about half way between my tummy button and my ladybits, i felt on the inside as if something was brushing very lightly the inside of my tummy, or rather the outside edge of my tummy but from the inside.
I won't be 18 weeks til Saturday coming, so not sure, but it was kind of a tickly feeling, as if with a feather.
Could this be a baby movement?
Thanks

skidaddle · 23/07/2007 11:35

neuro - sounds like baby movement but don't worry if you're not sure for another week or two - think most first time mums are supposed to feel movement between 18 and 20 weeks so it is still very early. If it is movement you will probably just feel it increase gradually in strength over the next few weeks until you are sure that it is your baby
hope this helps

mad4girls · 23/07/2007 11:35

sounds like it to me, i felt 1st movemnts on eve of 15 wks felt very similar

mimicakey · 23/07/2007 11:37

It felt like a twang to me - like an elastic band being lightly strummed. I think you may well have felt the bubba, if it's something that made you think ooh I wonder if that was it, then it probably was! How exciting!

Thanks for the book info suey2!

mixedmama · 23/07/2007 11:38

Neuro - I think with my first it was 19 weeks for me, but that a proper kick and could not be mistaken and dont remember any other movements, however this time round (17 weeks) have been feeling lots of what you describe and feel sure that it is the baby so I think yes...enjoy it.

Neuro · 23/07/2007 11:40

i feel a bit emotional. that the little person is really in there. i'm just going to think it is the baby.
i felt a bit funny last week as bump seemed to have shrunk, and had no symptoms of anything.
But now i feel better.
Thanks girls
