So I phoned GP in the hope of getting something better for my indigestion as I've barely eaten or slept all weekend (last time I phoned they said call again if it gets worse, which it clearly has). Wow they really don't want to let you have anything do they! Got recommended another gaviscon-esque product and told to tilt my bed. How that will help me when I've got bottom set year 9 at 11.30 tomorrow I do not know....I'm going to get the alternative product and try it, maybe it will be a miracle cure...

swiftfox · 18/03/2019 19:55

@heyha sorry but your GP sounds rubbish! Mine gave me a long list of pregnancy-safe meds to choose from! Sorry you're having an awful time.

I'm lying on my side and trying to prompt the baby to move. Not much from him today, and I'm a little concerned. Usually there lots of movements throughout the day.

Reastie · 18/03/2019 20:00

Heyha how rubbish! I’d show this to a gp which gives pg suitable drug options.

Blondcat · 18/03/2019 20:24

@swiftfox I think it must be a day for lazy babies I went in this morning as not much movement from late yesterday afternoon. They put a doppler on and found heartbeat thankfully all sounds good and she has been moving a bit more this afternoon. I have also been referred for a scan on Wednesday afternoon to double check no issues to be concerned about. They were really nice at the hospital and didn't make me feel like I was wasting anyone's time told me to call any time I am worried.

Heyha · 18/03/2019 20:41

So I went to the supermarket to buy my new miracle cure and the pharmacist actually laughed a little bit, sympathetically, when I relayed the conversation and said 'but this is basically cheap gaviscon'. He agreed with my assessment that I should give it a go for a couple of days so I could go back to GP and say, nope, try again! Midwife next week so maybe she will be able to kick some arse for me as well. I didn't speak to my own GP today but last time I called him he was talking about prescribing ranitidine or the one that begins with O so I might just insist on speaking to him even if it takes a day or two (all appointments by phone then they book you to come in if they want to have a further look).

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 18/03/2019 20:49

@swiftfox easier said than done but don’t panic TOO much, this one (like her brother and sister before her) has about 3 days of gradually increasing activity and then a “day off”.

By that I mean movements are there but significantly smaller and take a lot more “focus”.

As a PP noted yes it’s rib pain time. CRIKEY my ribs hurt like billy-o and I just can’t get comfy. I’m also super extra mega tired and finding my commute so so tough right now.

MUCH WHINGEING

rollerskaterdata · 18/03/2019 21:34

@swiftfox have you managed to prompt any movement yet? Monitoring movements really is so stressful, it doesn't help my baby hasn't got a pattern! I went in for monitoring yesterday not for reduced movements but just to ease my mind by the fact she hasn't got a pattern and to confirm that maybe no pattern but sporadic movement throughout the day and night, and some days strong some days smaller movements is actually normal for her. CTG was perfectly normal and of course she moved loads during it. Midwife mentioned not all babys have a pattern despite you desperately wishing they would, and as long as I feel movements on and off throughout the day she's probably fine. As her CTG was normal I'm concluding she has no real pattern and on/off days and that's probably normal for her

Celebrated turning 29 weeks today by getting my fiancé to help tie my pregnancy skin tags that have suddenly appeared in my groin area because I can't see them over my bump. New levels of intimacy right there..

excitedmama · 19/03/2019 06:57

Hiii

So I had my 28 week appointment yesterday and they measured my bump and said I was too big, so they have booked me in for an emergency scan today. Has anyone experienced this? I understand growth scans for babies being too small but too big? She plotted me on this graph and apparently according to my BMI I shouldn't be this big until 32 weeks?

Excited to see little one on a scan today though.

Reastie · 19/03/2019 07:30

Excited I had exactly that last time! Went to scan and baby was coming up as large so they then booked another scan a few weeks later. It was because of this and suspected gd that in the end I was induced on due date so as not to go over. FWIW don’t be stressed by the scan. I was told dd was nearly 9 lbs when I still had over a month left. She was born just under 9 lbs nearly 5 weeks later. They are notoriously inaccurate. It’s a good thing to have but don’t put too mau has worry on the results. Purely because dd was relatively big last time I have 3 extra scans this time.

Heyha · 19/03/2019 07:43

Hopefully just baby being literally 'ahead of the curve' and it'll be nice to have an extra scan Flowers

Kescilly · 19/03/2019 08:53

@excitedmama this happened at my 28 week appointment. The hospital was meant to call and give me a time for a growth scan but didn’t, so I kept calling and finally they saw me on Saturday.

My baby measured ahead on the scan as well, so now I have to do my third GTT. I’ve been told I’ll get a letter in the mail if they decide that they want to do another growth scan in a few weeks.

No one has really offered any explanation or concern other than assuming I have gestational diabetes!

imtakingabath · 19/03/2019 10:40

Hello all, I've been lurking on the June 2019 threads for quite a long time, and just signed up to tell you all about the Positive Birth Company digital pack offer, but I see lstef has beaten me to it haha! :) I'm due on 29th May, same as Kescilly. But the May thread isn't very active, so I've been following this one instead.

@Heyha - my GP prescribed me Omeprazole for my indigestion, which really helped. I took it for a month and then decided to come off just because I wasn't sure about taking something too long term.

She did warn me that it's not strictly approved as being pregnancy safe, but that's basically because pharmaceutical companies won't really test on pregnant women (probably because they'd get sued if anything went wrong, or pregnant women are unwilling to undergo medical trials just in case) but from what I've read online, lots of pregnant women have been prescribed it previously and have taken it with no ill effects. Plus I figured so late on in the pregnancy it wasn't likely to do too much harm. My symptoms have come back now I've stopped taking it again, but nowhere near as bad as they were.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 19/03/2019 12:27

Thanks everyone for the link to the positive birth company pack! That's super cheap.

Curlywurly3 · 19/03/2019 13:21

Thanks for sending the links, I’ve signed up too! 25 week appointment today at 26+1 I heard the baby have hiccups and felt them too for the first time. Head is down and really low which explains why my bladder hurts all the time! Measuring 27.5 on the fundal chart which she said is fine. Now on my way to London to meet a friend from back home. I hope you’re all having a good day x

DinoMamasaurus · 19/03/2019 14:09

Thanks for the links :) I’ve signed up too. I found my hypnobirthing book SO helpful last time and that price is just way too good to miss.

toomanyflatwhites · 19/03/2019 15:04

Haha I've signed up too! Was going to do the Hollie de Cruz/London hypnobirthing online course as I've enjoyed her book so much but at that price it's worth a try, plus we are going away for a week tomorrow (just to see the in-laws in france) but I might actually get a chance to listen to it so seemed like good timing!

Changingagain · 19/03/2019 15:13

We've just retrieved our Snuzpod from DM's loft this weekend and given it a wash. I really liked it with DS and he was in it until 6 months when he went into his own room. I've ordered a new mattress though as it isn't washable and I didn't feel comfortable with the idea of putting a newborn on it after nearly 3.5 years in a loft even though it was vacuum packed.

I'm starting on insulin tonight Sad after calling the diabetes nurse about my fasting levels going up. I don't see the consultant until Thursday but he's the same one I had last time and he told me that time that I'd be induced at 38 weeks if I ended up on medication. I really don't want an induction incase it doesn't progress and I end up being in hospital and away from DS for ages. I'm worried he'll feel like I've abandoned him for the new baby. On the plus side though, I guess it means not being pregnant for as long.

Kescilly · 19/03/2019 17:04

Hello @GemmeFatale and @imtakingabath and welcome! Let me know the rest of your stats if you want to be added in before the next thread. Sex of baby, what # baby, location, age at due date.

I’m happy to have a due date buddy!

We were going to get the Next to Me since I’ve heard good things. I’m not sure we will actually keep it right up next to the bedside. We just wanted the largest crib we could fit in our bedroom to keep the baby in with us for a while.

Bit sad that I spent so much more on the hypnobirthing digital pack, but oh well!

@Changingagain sorry that you need to start on insulin. Try not to worry too much about induction yet. You never know, baby could decide to show up a bit ahead of time!

Thanks @Kescilly!

My stats are:

Sex of baby: boy

of baby: 1st

Location: East Kent
Age at due date: 30

I've borrowed a Snuzpod from my cousin, though I've just found out she's 11 weeks pregnant, so will probably only be able to use it for four months before I have to give it back haha! Still, saves paying out for a brand new one :)

GemmeFatale · 19/03/2019 17:46

Thanks @kascilly

My stats

imtakingabath · 19/03/2019 17:59

Am I right in saying that the Positive Birth Company's digital pack only gives you access for 12 months? I was considering paying for it, since £12 is very reasonable, but my partner and I just did an in-person KG Hypnobirthing course (as part of which I was given mp3s and a folder with lots of info and a book etc.), so I think it would probably only be worth paying for this extra digital pack if I could use it for any future pregnancy I may have.
