Yes the water must be above 70 degrees (you don’t have to wait for it to cool down though) as it’s the powder that needs sterilising. The perfect prep is great though. You can usually pick them up for £20 on Facebook marketplace - we have one downstairs and one upstairs!

I can’t see that ethnicity would matter re skin care. It’s made of the same stuff!

welshweasel · 05/02/2019 09:34

I’m super excited that babies will be coming thick and fast now!!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 05/02/2019 10:29

I reckon I’ll be waiting a while... my first child was due Feb 17th, he was born March 4th 😂

Yakadee · 05/02/2019 10:34

@welshweasel - we have a perfect prep and have put it to good use as baby is a week old today. Only downside for me is that it makes minimum of 4oz which my baby isn't eating just yet. It's still the best thing I have ever bought!!!

X

welshweasel · 05/02/2019 10:36

@yakadee yes it’s a bit annoying but cheaper to make up 4oz and waste half than use the ready made stuff. Won’t be long before they finish 4oz anyway!

Celebelly · 05/02/2019 10:43

Woke up in the night choking and unable to breathe thanks to acid reflux. Not a nice way to be awoken! AngryNo sign of baby coming yet. She's due on Sat but have midwife appointment and chance to have sweep tomorrow. I think I'll just wait and see if I can get one next week if she's not here instead.

Celebelly · 05/02/2019 10:44

Ooh good luck @babyp160 ! Thanks

Yakadee · 05/02/2019 10:53

@welshweasel - I know, she's already sinking about 100ml in one sitting! X

AliceRR · 05/02/2019 11:12

I had really bad back ache in bed last night and was slightly convinced it might be the start of something! Doesn’t seem to be, though. My due date is 10th but I feel like I’ll be waiting to nearer the end of the month for baby!

Those of you who have had babies or have had them before, were there any signs or did you just go into labour out of the blue?

Since2016 · 05/02/2019 11:17

@alicerr I had hideous back ache - and I mean continuous and different at the start. This was at 40+2. My mum knew before me that it had started as she laboured in her back with me and saw the signs. That was weds am, the contractions started by wed eve, with cramps by afternoon. Fx for you!

OP posts:
AliceRR · 05/02/2019 11:28

@Since2016 It was through the night and it felt different to other backaches as it was more in the centre of my back than the lower back pain I have more often. I also a bit of stomach ache. I feel ok but we’ll see! 🙄

lanalawr · 05/02/2019 11:30

@Yakadee why not try using the kettle method until baby takes 4oz? It doesn't take long to boil a small amount of water so similar amount of time to the perfect prep if you keep a small bottle of cooled boiled water on standby.

@AliceRR probably not what you want to hear but I didn't have any signs last time. I was up earlier than usual with no real reason (no cramps/contractions, just awake two hours earlier) then my waters broke a few hours later with no warning.

AliceRR · 05/02/2019 11:44

@lanalawr TBH I’m happy to hear that too as at the moment I just feel like it’s not going to happen for a while so I quite like the idea that it could just happen!!

AvoidingMarking · 05/02/2019 12:12

Ladies I think I have given myself food poisoning... feel so ill and crampy. Praying baby doesn't try to make an early exit because of it.

AvoidingMarking · 05/02/2019 12:13

Also just catching up. Good luck to all about to meet their babies!

AmberRose17 · 05/02/2019 13:55

40 weeks today but no signs of this lad emerging. Did 90 mins of pregnancy yoga yesterday and some energetic dancing to Baby Shark with my 3yo after nursery and now feeling the consequences with PGP making an unwelcome return today. Whoops.

Susannach · 05/02/2019 15:12

@AliceRR I had loads of signs with DC1: mucus plug went, then days of stop-start contractions before she was actually born. DC2 I just remember feeling a bit “periody” the afternoon before, like I was about to get AF. A few strong BHs in the evening and then it all started in earnest the next day. Didn’t lose my plug with him until I was about 6cm!

No signs yet with this one (currently 38+2) but to be honest I’m glad. My little boy is really unwell with flu + a chest infection, ended up in hospital with him last night. Just hoping he gets better before the baby arrives! Worrying times.

Good luck @babyp160!

lanalawr · 05/02/2019 15:13

@Susannach hope your little boy is feeling better soon.

Day one of 'proper' maternity leave (i.e. first day with no toddler) and I'm bored already. Come on baby, don't make me wait as long as your sister did.

AliceRR · 05/02/2019 15:18

@AmberRose17 Oh dear. I’ve been there with overdoing it and then suffering the next day with PGP! Try to rest if you can and not put too much weight in one leg at a time if you can avoid it.

@Sussannach That’s almost how I felt last night - with the back ache and stomach pains almost like AF is coming but noting today. Still a bit of an upset stomach but then I ate spicy food last night and have had that on and off.

I’m not desperate for baby to arrive immediately. I’m “only” 39+2 but I think I’ll get impatient if I’m still waiting this time next week.

Hope your little boy is ok soon!

@lanalawr I found starting mat leave so strange. It’s the start of week 2 for me and I’m running out of things to do but I’m glad I’m not still at work!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 05/02/2019 15:27

Is feeling in pain after exercise PGP, or is it just standard third trimester stuff?

I don’t consider I have anything wrong with me other than normal aches and pains, but I know I couldn’t get through 90 mins of yoga and any energetic dancing without being in severe pain afterwards! Isn’t that just normal at this stage?

I can’t turn in bed, get off the sofa, or even walk some days without it taking my breath away, isn’t that just pregnancy? Have I been thinking about it all wrong for all three of mine? 😂

AliceRR · 05/02/2019 15:45

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking For me you’ve just described PGP, not just heavy pregnancy, but I’ve had it since about 14 weeks...

Celebelly · 05/02/2019 15:49

I haven't been able to turn without horrid pain in bed since about 20 weeks but just assumed that was a joy of pregnancy!

I am looking forward to standing up without making groaning sounds, though! And climbing up the stairs without breathing so hard my DP comes out of his office to see if I'm OK GrinThe heartburn is definitely the worst though Angry If I wake up unable to breathe and choking from acid again I'm not going to be pleased.

detachablehoof · 05/02/2019 16:10

I'm officially overdue and it still doesn't feel real... I still don't feel like I'm actually going to be a mum sometime this week or next! Completely surreal! However I'm now packing my hospital bag 😂

powkin · 05/02/2019 16:49

Been waiting for 5 hours for them to start induction, finally get on the monitor for a baseline and 1) I start choking on something and then 2) I get the hysterical giggles so will probably have to wait even longer for them to start induction!

Surprisedmom · 05/02/2019 16:58

@powkin good luck!
