Peasant in since 11am here. Lower back pains and some cramping. I have a feeling it'll be a back pain labour!

Fiona0x · 05/02/2019 17:17

I'm due in 2 days and I'm praying my baby comes on his own. I really don't want to be induced. SadSad

Celebelly · 05/02/2019 17:39

@Fiona0x Presuming you have no risk factors, you have plenty of time still! I won't be considering induction until I'm 10 days over at least, unless something happens that means we need to.

DeliberatelyGinger · 05/02/2019 17:45

@celebrity I'm with you. Unless the baby is looking weight or in distress or other I'll wait as long as I can stand it.

DeliberatelyGinger · 05/02/2019 17:46

That was supposed to say @cellebelly still getting used to my new tablet

AutumnLee12 · 05/02/2019 18:00

Has anyone had any experiences with having a sweep before 40weeks? Either positive or negative?

A few weeks ago I had sugar in my urine so was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I had high blood pressure, but they don't seem that concerned as I haven't been placed on any medication or anything more advised to monitor sugar intake. Also my blood pressure was probably high due to the fact I was concerned about Babies movements and I'd say the sugar was from eating chocolate to try and urge him to move 😂

When I saw the consultant she said about having a sweep at 38w then 39w then induction if nothing had happened, I personally felt 38w was too early but I have a midwife appt tomorrow and I'll be 38+6 so basically 39?

I'm not warming towards the idea of induction as ideally I wanted everything to happen as naturally as possible, but obviously I want what's best for baby and me!

@greenascabbagelooking I’ve had moderate pelvic girdle pain for the past couple of months - it’s been much easier to manage since being on mat leave as the commute definitely made it worse. It’s a particular type of pain - a sharp ache in my coccyx and on the right in my pubic area. Gets worse if I sit cross legged or stand on one leg. So in hindsight I should have been a bit more sensible when faced with a burst of energy! I didn’t have it at all in my first pregnancy but my sister did so I knew what it was when I got it around 33 weeks. Last time I was really active right up until the end, going on a long country walk two days before having my son so I’ve really felt the contrast this time around.

Good luck to people being induced today!

maxiflump1 · 05/02/2019 18:26

Good luck with your inductions @babyp160 and @powkin. Hope these babies don't keep you waiting too long.

Fiona0x · 05/02/2019 18:28

@celebelly yeah no risk factors. My first child is 2 in 2 weeks so I'd rather not go over that much but I have a feeling he's going to be quite late.

You know at the end when you just want your baby in your arms!

powkin · 05/02/2019 20:00

@maxiflump1 @surprisedmom thank you. They didn’t do the old reach around and gel until about 5.30pm and it hurt like an absolute mother fucker. I think I maybe reacted to the gel, I have pretty sensitive skin and my lady bits felt like they were on fire. After initial wave of intenseness things have calmed down a bit to be tolerable. Waiting for them to give the baby the quick once over and then I can go for another wander around. Found myself saying ‘I wish I’d done the hypno fucking birthing’ which made me chuckle.

DH not sure whether to go home or stay, he’s not sure he’d sleep much at home but I don’t really want him not sleeping here and just having to watch me grumble either.

Surprisedmom · 05/02/2019 20:20

@powkin I watched a little bit of that twinstitute show on tv and they did a test to see if swearing or meditation helped better with pain relief. Meditation helped more but swearing made a significant difference too, so perhaps combining both would be the ultimate 😂

Since2016 · 05/02/2019 20:50

Good luck to those being induced!

My bump has suddenly - and scarily dramatically dropped. I’m now in pain while walking and getting rather ominous low grinding and cramping pains.

For fucks sake. This better not be the start of something - this baby just has to wait ONE MORE DAY.

I had a hospital appt today and I went to the chapel with my mum afterwards. She got v upset talking to the Chaplain about how she spent a lot of time there last time (it’s next to NICU) I didn’t realise how hard she must have found it all, despite how comparatively lucky we were to some babies who are there for months. What an emotional rollercoaster this whole thing is.

@Since2016 - oh my, I can see why you'd be concerned - fingers crossed for a very uneventful evening for you!

I didn't have anything like that with my first but I agree, you don't realise how others can take it. After I had Emma last week, my mum said, 'thank God - please don't have anymore, I can't take it!' (Obviously she'd be pleased if we did really). I knew the first hit her hard but didn't realise it was so bad. She said she couldn't eat etc for days before x

AvoidingMarking · 05/02/2019 22:08

@powkinif it was me I wouldn't let my OH go home- just in case things sped up!

detachablehoof · 05/02/2019 23:09

@alicerr I've had a really sore lower back tonight and also wondering if it's the start of something! I feel so on edge and noticing every tiny little twinge!

powkin · 06/02/2019 01:56

Things not going well here, I’m having too many contractions and no cervix softening at all, leading to 2 lots of injections and IV fluids. I’m regretting my decision. They made me feel like I should have said something sooner but how am I meant to know what’s normal? I was pleased to be having contractions as thought that meant it was working :(

Notquiteagandt · 06/02/2019 02:44

@powkin have they ARM yet? Good luck! This was me last week. Know how disheartening it is all the pain no gain. You have got this though 💪 I managed 12hrs of "hynobirthing" then it went out the window. So dont feel you are missing out.

Fingers crossed we are finally going home tomorrow night. Be so glad to get out of hospital and more settled.

Currently mumsnetting with a cluster feeding piglet on me. Like a ticking time bomb when I movee.

Good luck those due imminantly or in labour!! Flowers

AvoidingMarking · 06/02/2019 04:07

@powkin that happened with mine. I was hyper contracting (4-6 in a 10 min period) but it wasn't doing anything. They took the pessary out and I went on the drip and things were much better after that and my daughter was here 5 hours later. Fingers crossed yours is the same.

babyp160 · 06/02/2019 05:50

@powkin did you have the pessary?

I had mine put in 11am yesterday. Have lots of back and period type pain now.
Really hope it is doing something but they can't actually look until 11am (in 5 hours)

If it's worked they break the waters and if not then I get a 6 hour gel.

Only 2 of us on the ward and it's lovely and pitch black. If only the pains hadn't kept me up it would be lovely. The foods also amazing here AND they have the best power shower. Like a hotel stay at the moment 🙈

babyp160 · 06/02/2019 05:52

@Notquiteagandt was this your first baby?

How long did the process last for you?

Did you have a pessary?
Sorry for the questions!!!

Notquiteagandt · 06/02/2019 06:11

Yes my 1st baby. My cervix was soft and short when I was admitted my bishops score was a 6 so only just on the cusp for a process pessary as if score was above an 7 they go straight to arm.

Had pecessary in for 24hrs. Felt nothing. Went to labour suite closed up fully still so took 2 mw to break my waters. Then got told I was already contracting 3 in ten and they didnt understand why I wasnt feeling them.

Had the 1st 6 hour 16mg drip along with fluids to rehydrate me. Managed to get through it with breathing. But contractions went upto 4 in ten. But still wasnt dialated at all. Which was the hardest part for me.

Second 16mg drip managed about 2 out of the 6 hours before my body went into shock 8 contractions per ten and 2cm to 8cn dialated in 6minutes. My epidural failed. But from what they told me about it. Sounds fantastic so I was so ready for it. Id gone in so adiment I didnt want one but they really sold it too me.

In the end I will spare you details but ended up having an emergancy section. They got me in theatre and baby out in 8 minutes.

But the whole process from start to baby in my arms was from 1pm weds and she was born 10am friday.

I was only 37wks though. So that went against me.

It wasnt an horrific experience just v.v.v. slow and a bit disheartening to progress slowly. I had a midwife in room with me whole time in delivery suite so felt I could ask questions etc which was good. I also asked for wireless monitoring at 1st so I could move around and get on ball which also helped.

My issues why it went wrong where nothing to do with the induction. That part wasnt to bad.

Good luck Flowers

powkin · 06/02/2019 06:37

I had the prostaglandin gel. My cervix was totally shut. Was having 9-10 contractions per 10 mins and two injections to slow it down barely did anything other than reduce the intensity, Was on the monitor until almost 4am when I was finally allowed to put the bed flat. Would be so peaceful if it wasn’t for the arsehole partner in the next bed snoring all night. Dr did an exam at 3am and said cervix has softened a tiny bit but not much. Guess they’ll monitor and review again in a while. I’m still on IV fluids but not a drip to move the contractions along!

Eyedontknow · 06/02/2019 07:57

Haven't had a chance to catch up properly, but our little man was born Sunday night via emergency csection! the pain has been manageable so far, but today seems to be picking up in intensity. Baby had to have a feeding tube (due to anomaly), so still in the hospital, but thankfully last night I was moved just down the hall from him rather than on a different floor.

@Powkin and whoever else was being induced, my waters broke sat night but I wasn't getting contractions, so they gave me the pessary gel at around 3/4AM, I started having serious contractions like every 1-2 minutes and at 3 PM I was still only 2 CM. Baby was already dropping his heart rate during contractions so they worried the IV would be too much so ended up having a section. It was done before it became "we need this baby out now!" So everything was really calm!

welshweasel · 06/02/2019 08:18

Congratulations @eyedontknow! Hope you don’t have too long a stay in hospital.

Hang in there @powkin and @babyp160 - hope to hear baby news very soon.

Good luck to those having sections today/tomorrow - pretty sure there’s a couple.

Yakadee · 06/02/2019 08:22

@Eyedontknow - congratulations!

Looking forward to seeing some baby updates soon. Hope you're all ok xc
