August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea

Hi all

Welcome to the new thread. The list of names is HUGE! It might be a better idea to start a new list after 12 week scans so we have up to date due dates. It also allows those who have bad news but don't want to share it to leave quietly if they so wish.

I don't even have a scan date! Hurry up and end first trimester.

@stylix1981 go back and demand a different gp. The one I'm on has helped loads but mine told me if not to go back as there are 4 we could try. That's no ok if it's effecting your life that badly and making you depressed.

PinkLady89x · 25/01/2019 20:39

I am starting to feel pretty crappy about being so nauseous all the time. It is pretty awful. I'm not always being sick, it's more I'm just always feeling sick.
Does anyone else always feel the need to burp, especially after eating? I feel like I'm exploding all the time and it really doesn't help with the nausea. I actually can't burp properly on my own so always had to boarder line throw up to do it anyway so now it's just horrendous.

Cobblestones · 25/01/2019 20:59

@stylix1981 I’m sorry to hear you’ve been feeling so poorly. Have you met the midwife as yet. I found her to be more sympathetic and helpful than the GP. She asked me twice about how I felt mentally and when I mentioned anxiety she said if it gets to a point that I need help ie to talk to someone about it they could help out. Other than getting physical help if might be a good idea to explore counselling options. Also do you have any company at home? I’ve found whenever I’ve had a supportive family member or a friend over somehow I can forget about my terrible physical state.

I agree with @raindropsroses you should ask to see someone different. There are plenty of meds out there which are considered safe. Cyclizine is only the first line of drugs which don’t do much for most.

Cobblestones · 25/01/2019 21:04

Also have you figured out which snacks/fruits help with the nausea? I know the last thing you want is to eat when you’re feeling this way but if you keep snacking on a few things that seem to help, it does make a difference. I’ve found I can’t drink water so I sip on apple juice. Snack on lightly salted popcorn or rich tea biscuits, apples, watermelon and mango. Sometimes a little bit of icecream in the mouth also helps. Not the healthiest diet but right now it’s more survival than anything else. I’m 13+0 and have been suffering for the last 6 weeks. A few people have said that 14 weeks might be a turning point. Fingers crossed for us 🤞🤞

RaindropsRoses · 25/01/2019 21:32

Ooh yes ice lollies and mints are working well here.

@PinkLady89x have you tried rennies or gaviscon? Sounds like heartburn/indigestion. I had horrendous heartburn with ds from about 20 weeks, so painful and mini sicks all the time, so am dreading that.

PinkLady89x · 25/01/2019 21:38

Ahh thanks @RaindropsRoses I'll try that. I wasn't sure what I could take being pregnant as I've stayed away from everything so I'll give that a go.

FraggleRocking · 25/01/2019 21:46

Please may I join? I’ve been wanting to for a long time but held off as I’ve struggled with a lot of anxiety, exacerbated by terrible sickness. I feel a bit calmer now I’ve had my scan, seen the reality and know I’m due 11th August! Still horribly sick but ho hum.
Just wanted to mention (I really should’ve asked to join earlier and said something but was so nervous), some of your scan pics have your personal details on them in case you’re not aware.

stylix1981 · 25/01/2019 21:46

@RaindropsRoses i will see if i can see my normal gp.

@Cobblestones i had my booking appointment at 8wks, the midwife is aware of my mental health but didnt seem concerned even though in my last pregnancy i had to see my midwife every 2wks sometimes every week, she seemed nice though. I am pretty much living on ready salted crisps, flavoured water, polos, oranges, soup (occasionally) and crackers with a little cheese.

I just dont feel very good about things at the moment, not sure if its panic as im older (my daughter is 16 next month) or just general stress due to work issues and life, but i know im not right. Hopefully will feel better after my scan on monday :)

Bakingabean · 25/01/2019 22:22

Hey @fragglerocking ! Congrats and welcome!

Rant of the day- I just want to be able to brush my sodding teeth without wretching or dry heaving. Angry hormonal murmurings etc.

avacadooo · 25/01/2019 22:33

@Bakingabean weird one but try doing brushing them in the bath, only way I can do it without retching 😂

ScotsBaby2 · 25/01/2019 22:45

Lots of lovely scan pictures.
I'm becoming less anxious and more excited about the scan but then I catch myself.

We have nothing planned for tomorrow. I'm so excited to just chill with my baby girl. What's everyone else up to?

Remember to pm me your email address if you want to join the super secret Facebook group.

Thanks for the welcome.
I’ve had to switch to a manual toothbrush as it doesn’t trigger quite as badly. This might help?

ABearandABump · 26/01/2019 01:02

@Bakingabean I use a child's toothbrush to brush mine now. I'm awful though constantly gagging especially at my DCs farts!

@ScotsBaby2 how do we PM using the app?

ss3ajb · 26/01/2019 05:06

Ninunina · 26/01/2019 07:30

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/01/2019 07:57

Morning all

Finally have scan date of 8/2, will be 11 weeks

I have read that weeks 9 and 10 are often peak for sickness, mine has definitely gone up a notch, hope it doesnt last long

9+1 today

ScotsBaby2 · 26/01/2019 08:02

Bakingabean · 26/01/2019 08:17

@avacadoo that is a weird one!

@abearandabump I might try a kids tothbrush! I don't have kid farts to deal with I have my old manky dog's breath. She likes to yawn in my face!

UnicornDust17 · 26/01/2019 10:03

Welcome to everyone new, this thread moves pretty fast! Any more scans coming up? 14 weeks today and baby center tells me it's the size of a lemon 🍋Grin

emma1224 · 26/01/2019 11:44

irritating thing I find about pregnancy is I'm constantly feeling starving but I'm constantly feeling sick 🙈 I eat I feel better for abit but I have to force myself to eat coz I feel so sick !!

13 weeks today so my app says I'm officially into the second trimester yay! And due back to work in a week 😩🙈

@IVEgottheDECAF hope it passes soon! Lots of juice and apples are amazing I find

@UnicornDust17 happy 14th week hope you are doing okay

X

marajade12 · 26/01/2019 12:15

So I had to cave in and buy some maternity jeans yesterday as mine were getting so tight and uncomfortable. And I’m only 12 weeks with dc1, how big an I gonna get 😅

Also please re add me to the list @CalmerComber, edd is 11th Aug

ScotsBaby2 · 26/01/2019 12:37

@UnicornDust17 I'm the size of a profiterole!

OP posts:
ScotsBaby2 · 26/01/2019 12:38

@marajade12 I found that after the first trimester bloat disappeared, my tummy was ok until I was properly showing at 20 weeks.

Jokie · 26/01/2019 15:27

@Cobblestones: I've found apples can either help or hinder me. It's really weird as people react differently to different things. Someone I spoke to who had HG with her DD said she swore by peppermints and pickled cabbage (!). That hasn't helped me at all. I've heard 15-20 weeks it should subside by so I'm keeping the faith!

@FraggleRocking; welcome!

@bakingabean; I feel your pain! I've been dry heaving and retching whenever I brush my teeth. It's horrid.

@marajade12: I agree that it could just be first trimester bloat. Mine went down around 12 weeks and then I was 'ok' until 19-20 weeks.

ScotsBaby2 · 26/01/2019 15:46

My HG vanished overnight at 20 weeks. My bump properly appeared at 19 weeks.
