@hayley013 - with you on the head butting - rather painful isn't it!!
X

hayley013 · 13/01/2019 19:53

@Lookingforadvice123 yeah I was lucky enough to go into labour the date I was due, having her late that night after 23 hours, painful hours lol, so I don't fancy going over, was bad enough going to due date 😂 I'm a lot bigger this time too

powkin · 13/01/2019 20:12

I have the worst pain under my right rib, it is usually worst round the back and now it is at the front and hurts when I bend forward. I don’t know if baby is kicking my ribs or my liver and it is normal or if there’s something actually more “wrong”. Apparently Pip is in a weird position (head down but sort of on a diagonal) which explains why it’s all on one side, but as my liver/gallbladder is over there I was wonder if they have something to do with it Confused

If it wasn’t for this pain and the awful cramps I sometimes get I’d be happy waiting it out but at 34+2 I think I’ve already had enough!

Celebelly · 13/01/2019 20:46

I have colostrum!!!! This has made me weirdly excited Grin

welshweasel · 13/01/2019 20:48

Me too @celebelly - it seems to leak out more after I’ve showered. Too scared to express it to save though as I tried once and got bad uterine contractions!

Celebelly · 13/01/2019 20:49

Yes, I didn't want to poke about for long lest I ended up bringing on labour or something! But it feels kinda cool to know it's in there!

I might try save some when I hit 38 weeks.

DeliberatelyGinger · 13/01/2019 20:50

I've started on the hospital bag but I've got a few more bits and bobs to get. Most of the basics are covered though. Had a private Scan yesterday cos we missed seeing the baby. She/he is measuring a little over average so they estimate will be about 7.5 lbs at my due date. I hope it's somewhere close.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 13/01/2019 20:57

What do they class as average weight? As I always thought my first two were good average sizes at 7lb 14oz and 7lb 15oz, however in my notes they are marked as being 20th percentile weights 🤷🏻‍♀️

Since2016 · 13/01/2019 21:29

I always thought avg was 6-7?

Lookingforadvice123 · 13/01/2019 21:32

powkin I had/have something very similar. Had it in my first pregnancy and had all the checks eg for gall stones etc. Nothing ever came of it. I think it's muscular, just them stretching. I've had it in this pregnancy too, Just not as bad. Mine was/is a burning, searing pain and is worse when I'm sat down.

Notasgreenascabbagelooking oh really! My DS was 7lb13 so very similar. He did seem tiny and slender but was definitely long. All the newborn stuff I got (which was the larger ones, up to 9lb ish) was all huge on him though. I'd love another baby of around that size.

Lookingforadvice123 · 13/01/2019 21:33

I would say average is 7lb something but I guess babies are getting bigger, the same way people are generally.

welshweasel · 13/01/2019 22:23

Average for a boy is 7lb 11oz, girls a couple of ounces less.

DeliberatelyGinger · 13/01/2019 22:44

They estimate baby at 55th percentile at 33 wks +3 and I think they said based on measurements it was about 5lb 1

Surprisedmom · 13/01/2019 23:14

@powkin I am with you on the rib pain. My little one definitely seems to favour one side over the other but I find whichever side I lie on at night he seems to roll and push into that rib. It means I wake every few hours with an aching rib and have to change sides. I have found placing a hot water bottle on the aching rib when I do has helped a little, plus these exercises (m.youtube.com/watch?v=BiEsSMQzHCs) to stretch my ribs help a little too.

twiglet · 13/01/2019 23:27

@powkin I've had constant pain under my shoulder blade on the left for about 2 weeks now with pain under the ribs as well.

I thought it was related to the heartburn but midwife said his feet are under my ribs and the top of my uterus is high which is putting pressure and adding to the pain.
Hot water bottle at night helps a bit.

Yakadee · 14/01/2019 07:20

Feeling very very sorry for myself today 😩

I was mega congested last night so of course, sore throat and bad sleep. Add in a child who is awake from 12-3:15 fussing / crying / trying to play (he's full of cold) and a 6:30 wake up for work! I've had like 2/3 hours sleep if that!

I'm going to be fun at work today! Sigh! X

AliceRR · 14/01/2019 09:42

Sleeping is getting more difficult! Hurts whichever side I lie on and I keep turning in the night but think I got some sleep as managed to properly wake up after 7...

Anyone else feel like having a baby doesn’t seem real?? Obviously I know I’m pregnant (36+1!) but can’t imagine really having a little baby girl. It’s so surreal. I say this as I plan to wash baby clothes today too!

AliceRR · 14/01/2019 09:45

I’m feeling quite uncomfortable though. Back aches, hips ache, hurts to like on either side, have a sharp pulled muscle type feeling low on left, bladder feels squashed

Is this a sign birth is likely to be soon or just last stage discomfort?

lanalawr · 14/01/2019 10:03

Sorry @AliceRR sounds like third trimester discomfort. I had some cramping while I was walking the day before I went into labour with dd and was awake early for no apparent reason but didn't have any signs as such. That said, my waters broke before any contractions started so may be different if your contractions start first.
It also doesn't feel real to me. I think I'm in denial and this isn't even my first! I've now washed some clothes but still need to wash the car seat and next to me fabric before putting them back together. Must pack a bag soon as well because I'll be 37 weeks on Friday...

AliceRR · 14/01/2019 10:17

@lanalawr Thought that might be the case! On the plus side heartburn etc has eased up as baby is lower down...

I’m 37 weeks on Sunday so you are similar to me. I told DH I am term on Sunday so will be working on baby coming ASAP(!) but having read some of the other ladies’ comments on this maybe I should wait until she’s ready!

powkin · 14/01/2019 10:49

@AliceRR I feel exactly the same - like the baby is still hypothetical. Completely forgot I was pregnant for a few minutes yesterday! I tell people at work that I think I’ll still be surprised when a baby comes out, I can’t really get my head around it, even with all the clothes and the stuff around the house, when I talk to people I feel like I go through the motions (partly because everyone asks the same questions over and over) but it’s a very weird feeling.

For me the most annoying symptom at the moment is what I refer to as microwees. You go to the loo, it’s tiny, two mins later it feels all irritated and you have to go again and it’s about 2 drops worth. I guess baby and PGP irritating the area makes me feel I need to go!

powkin · 14/01/2019 10:49

Oh and I’ve got stretch marks under my tummy now 😭 my tummy fat is under my bump and it makes me feel really gross.

Since2016 · 14/01/2019 11:25

Just back from growth scan. Est. Weight 6lb at birth. I’m a bit freaked out. Baby is fine and everything well but given that DD was 9.11 at birth (no GSD) and this baby will be delivered a week early, I’m freaked. I know this is average and not ‘small’ but it’s small by my family’s standards and in comparison to my first!

Need to buy newborn clothes - 0-3 will drown a 6lber! I know they’re not always accurate but I’ve compared the scan projections - about the same line all along.

Just a bit mind blown!

Notquiteagandt · 14/01/2019 11:25

So I had my scan this morning and they are happy to let me go an other 2 weeks until I am term. Such a huge relief. They have put a neonatal alert on her so soon as she is born shell be whisked away. So thats also resuring. Feel like weight of the world has been lifted. I cried. The absolute shame. Bloody hormones!!

The dr doing her scan also commented on what thick hair she had. So I am even more excited now to see what she looks like. So amaizing what detail they can see.

AliceRR · 14/01/2019 11:28

@powkin Oh gosh yes the PGP. I just have a lot of pains at the moment! But it’s fine, I can cope. I do wonder if it gets worse over the next couple of weeks that maybe I’ll have to finish work earlier (last day is 25 Jan)

I can’t see under my bump so could well have stretch marks under there too. Perhaps if I look in the mirror?!

I did notice some red marks on my hips, sort of like a rash, but was on both sides and I wondered if that was stretch marks. I have been using a stretch mark oil but literally just on my bump and don’t know if it even works though...

Having said all that, I am super excited to meet the baby and get emotional at the thought of it! Just can’t quite believe it’s real...
