@Thesnobbymiddleclassone - that's really nice of her. I've only been weighing in here and there just to keep an eye and it's actually much less than I'd thought.
My midwife hasn't weighed me once since the booking in appointment. That and then I went for the glucose test, other than that, never. I am overwe too so surprised? X

Lookingforadvice123 · 10/01/2019 10:03

Thesnobbymiddleclassone that sounds really sensible. I haven't had weight issues but it does upset me a bit feeling so far away from my pre baby body. This was the first time I'd weighed since they weighed me at the 12 week scan, I didn't look at that weight for a while anyway as I knew I would've put on a good few pounds as my lifestyle changes so much in the first trimester - I go from eating healthy ish and working out to only being able to stomach beige food and not moving.

I'm also feeling like this baby might be early like DS (born at 39 weeks but after a sweep at 38+4). He's SO low and I seem to have doubled in size over last weekend, everyone in work was shocked as Friday I was having comments of how neat I was, then this week my bump has gone huge.

Since2016 · 10/01/2019 10:13

Agree re weighing. This was the first time. I really struggled with the weight gain and how bloated I was with DD. This time I’m far happier with how I look - mostly because it’s just bump! I’m v conscious about what I eat and working out etc so the physical changes are always a shock! But this time with the sickness and bleeding I just decided to take it super easy.

Celebelly · 10/01/2019 10:52

I've only been weighed at booking in and my BMI was 31. Also haven't had GTT - they don't seem to do it routinely here if you have no other risk factors, oddly.

I actually lost weight in first trimester but overall I've put on about 1.5-1.75 stone so far. Just about to go see midwife and find out if I need another growth scan!

bubblybrit · 10/01/2019 11:05

He is absolutely gorgeous @Babynum2. So glad that you are getting the support that you need. Your dad must be delighted with the name xx

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 10/01/2019 11:06

I've not had a GTT test at all. My midwife weighs at the start of each trimester (did with DD as well).

Rowse · 10/01/2019 11:23

@Eyedontknow I finally made up our snuzpod 3 and can report that the snuzpod sheets do fit, but you can tell they were made for a smaller mattress. The seams aren't in the corners and the tightness does lift the corners of the mattress very slightly so you have to push them down.
I tried it with the mattress still in the plastic bag so think it'll be a bit better when that's off.

Definitely with you on finding some cheaper alternatives though!

2019Mama · 10/01/2019 11:43

Hey all thanks for the lovely messages..

So I was kept in overnight with ctg’s done every four hours and given a steroid to help mature babies lungs (which is a killer 😰) just in case he did decide to make an appearance.

I think he was just teasing us as I got a few braxton hicks every couple hours but then nothing.. had my growth scan done yesterday too and baby is growing perfectly weighing in at 5lbsish and so after what seemed like a lot of blood tests and urine samples and checking that the fresh blood had stopped I was sent home last night.

Have my consultant appt tomorrow morning. All is well although I am getting some pinky discharge but I’m thinking it may just be it clearing up from yesterday so will give it a couple hours and call up if it doesn’t seem to ease up.

Eyedontknow · 10/01/2019 11:44

@Rowse Thanks for letting me know! I went ahead and ordered some brand name sheets the other day. Grin I explained the dilemma to the husband and he was worried that sheets that were too big would pose a risk so get the expensive ones. Only ordered one set, so still on the look out for cheaper sets.

My midwife hasn't weighed me at all, not even at the booking appointment. She just asks me if I'm eating healthy and then takes my word for it when I say yes. Hmm She did comment yesterday that my bump looks huge though and to make sure my hospital bag was packed.

Fredthespider · 10/01/2019 11:53

I've been the opposite with weighing, I was a target member at slimming world before I got pregnant and have kept on going and weighing most weeks throughout the pregnancy. I've not followed the plan officially at all, but on the weeks that I've gone in and had a 2lb gain it has made me a little more mindful of not eating so much crap the week after. Total gain after 36 weeks is 1st 4.5lb which I'm thrilled with tbh. I've certainly not deprived myself though, especially on the chocolate front Grin

twiglet · 10/01/2019 11:59

@rowse I have the mothercare crib sheets for my Snuzpod 3 they fit the mattress and I checked in store with them they are 38*89cm.
They are tight but definitely don't make the corners curl and as soon as it's lay flat the mattress is flat.
I got them on sale think they were £6 for 2.

Celebelly · 10/01/2019 12:03

After my post earlier today, I just got weighed at my midwife appointment. She must have read this thread Grin

detachablehoof · 10/01/2019 12:05

I was weighed at my booking in appt and was also surprised that I haven't been weighed since. I kind of expected to be weighed at every appointment! Wish I had kept an eye on my own weight out of interest, but I don't think I even own any scales Blush

I think the midwife said she will weigh me at my 36 wk appt (which is tomorrow) so it will be interesting to see how much I've put on. I got very skinny in the first tri due to sickness and not eating. I'm eating fairly terribly now but I really don't feel that big (although I keep bumping into people and shutting doors on my tummy etc, so clearly I don't have much awareness of my size Grin). And my lovely husband keeps telling me that apart from my belly / boobs nothing else has changed shape he's probably just humouring me I do feel like I have the pregnancy potato face look and my wedding ring has started to get a bit tight!

AliceRR · 10/01/2019 12:48

@maxiflump1 Thank you. My mum picked one up for me today 😊

Yakadee · 10/01/2019 12:50

@Celebelly - my bmi was the same and I was ref for the glucose test and that was the only factor - funny how different everything is depending on where you are.

Leonora94 · 10/01/2019 12:55

I’ve just had my 34 week midwife appointment, I didn’t get weighed either (thank god) my midwife did says she’s currently 4/5 engaged...does anyone know if that has any relevance on if she’ll come earlier?

AliceRR · 10/01/2019 13:23

Quick question what is the deal with the MATB1 (?) form? Should I have had one by now? My firm maternity policy says I should be handing them one but no one has asked and I haven’t had one yet

Notquiteagandt · 10/01/2019 13:25

I have not been weighed once since my booking in. Which is strange as my bmi was 16 so I was flagged as high risk for that. So I thought they would of monitored it.

Countless hospital admissions ,dietician and OB appointments and not weighed once. Even when on a feeding tube.

Find this really really odd. But was told it is not practise in our trust to do so.

From my estimates I am just over a stone heavier than my prepregnancy weight and 2.5 stone heavier than my pregnancy lowest. I have a large bump so content with that. I defiantly feel my back and hips are alot wider though even if I have not put weight on there as such.

Notquiteagandt · 10/01/2019 13:27

@Leonora94 I was 3/5 engaged from aboit 28wks. Although she hasnt really progressed any lower since (to my knowledge) so I wouldnt worry to much. Just means they are getting comfy and ready.

Celebelly · 10/01/2019 13:39

I got my Mat1B at my 24-week appointment I think. You definitely should have it by now, @AliceRR !

Yakadee · 10/01/2019 13:47

@AliceRR - agree you should have this now. I had to chase my midwife to get them to sign it and post it out x

AliceRR · 10/01/2019 14:20

I just called MW and asked if she can have it ready for my next appointment on Tuesday as I go on mat leave on 25th and that’s my last appointment before I go on leave...

No one at work has asked for it though!

powkin · 10/01/2019 14:49

I’ve put on 2 st 5 lbs - I know I retain a hell of a lot of water (previous personal trainer commented and have issues with puffy hands in hot weather/after exercising etc normally) so fingers crossed there’s a lot of water in there! Midwife not concerned but it seems like a lot of weight gain to me. I don’t think I look massive though. My mums favourite phrase is “you look really well” which would be nice but I know from experience it’s code for “thank god you haven’t turned into a whale”... most of her chats about motherhood have been about weight loss post pregnancy so sadly not the bonding experience I’d hoped for!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 10/01/2019 15:10

My mum mentioned that my bump had got a lot bigger, I replied with ‘yeah, don’t think I’ve put on too much anywhere else though.’

Her response ‘hmm... I don’t know, your arse and thighs are a bit wider..’

I’m still in my size 10’s maternity 🤷🏻‍♀️

I know I’ve put a bit on my thighs/bum, but I wouldn’t say more than is healthy..!?

Since2016 · 10/01/2019 15:20

I think next appt (34/35 weeks) is weighing time - mw said she’d need to weigh me next time as I didn’t know what I weighed!

Just had a trip into town - JC the tube with a sleeping toddler in a buggy and huge bump. I’m so glad I’m not commuting.

HR have already ballsed up my mat leave pay. Ffs.
