Midwife said today that Pip is head down but not engaged (33+6) - no wonder my rib pain is so bad! Would like her to start engaging soon!

Yakadee · 10/01/2019 15:45

My mum commented on how I haven't put much weight on and I'm 'all bump' - it was a very different story last time.

@Since2016 - that's just what you need! 🤦‍♀️

@powkin - I love Pip - so cute x

Lookingforadvice123 · 10/01/2019 16:26

Notasgreenascabbagelooking I'm still in size 10 maternity too, hooray! I think I have definitely put some on on my hips, thighs, maybe bum, but I thank that more even weight gain to why I don't have any stretch marks (didn't have any last time either!). I'm also wearing a Sea Salt size 12 coat which zips up with room haha.

powkin I think a lot of mine is water too. I'll often gain something like 7-10lb over Christmas or on holiday, but within a week it's gone. That has to be water not fat! I'd lost around 2 stone by 4 weeks post birth last time.

Following for the Snuz Pod sheet alternatives! I'm definitely not bothering with the branded ones if they don't fit properly. A friend sent a link on amazon to the ones they bought, which I might try, if that's helpful:

@Yakadee - DH and I make up silly nicknames that end in ‘puff’ for each other so Pip stands for Puff in Progress! we have a totally different name picked out and not keen on Pippa or Philippa but already everyone knows them as Pip!

AliceRR · 10/01/2019 16:56

@Notasgreenascabbaglooking People keep telling me I’m “all bump” and “very near” but my dear Mother told me the other day that my “legs are looking a bit bigger”... Thanks Mum. Thing is I don’t think they are really. I must have at the very least less muscle tone in my arms and legs as I used to go to the gym and don’t know (can barely walk due to PGP) but I was a size 8 and I’m still a size 8 (in maternity clothes at least!) sigh

Yakadee · 10/01/2019 17:21

@powkin - I love it! My son was always 'baby Robs' (my surname is Roberts) and this baby is 'junior Robs' - original eh? Although saying that, we call each other all sorts, hardly ever our actual names. For the last few years (I have no idea why?) we've called each other 'Beast' and then anything Beast like, 'mini beast, baby beast, beauty beast' - endearing would you agree lol 😂

clairehr · 10/01/2019 18:21

I was weighed at my 34 week appointment and have put on just over a stone. Don't think that's too bad, considering according to scams baby makes up about 5lb of that 😂

Babynum2 · 10/01/2019 19:16

Did someone post on here some lovely nursing bras the other day? Could someone let me know what website it was? Tia x

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 10/01/2019 19:23

@powkin I can’t remember if this is your first baby or not? If so... don’t think baby engaging will lessen any pain, mine is sometimes engaged, sometimes free... trying to walk with an engaged baby is hell 😂

@lookingforadvice123 this is my third, and thankfully (touch wood) I don’t have any stretch marks either. Hoping to get away with none this time round too 😬

Since2016 · 10/01/2019 19:46

@babynum2 - hotmilk? My favourite ones are from there!

Those without stretch marks - v jealous! I had none with DD until late in the third tri. But this baby is SO forward (I literally look like I have a watermelon up my jumper) they’ve been bad since early on. DD calls them my stripes 😂 all hail high waisted bikinis - good thing I like the retro look!

Since2016 · 10/01/2019 19:47

Ps. Yes - an engaged baby is like trying to walk with a gazillion tampons stuffed up your foof.

Babynum2 · 10/01/2019 19:58

@since2016 thankyou! I havent worn a bra since having him i just tried to put one on oh my! Boobs are 4 times the size defo need to order some for when im home.

Lookingforadvice123 · 10/01/2019 20:02

Oh good to hear notasgreenascabbagelooking! Eek since2016, annoying when you didn't get any first time round. I kind of think it's luck / genetics anyway rather than how much weight you gain. I'm slathering on the cream or oil once a day but only because I would regret not doing it if I get some and I hadn't bothered. This baby is quite forward too so I wouldn't be surprised if I get some towards the end. Hopefully no more than 6 weeks to go!

Since2016 · 10/01/2019 20:03

@babynum2 haha - deffo try there. Not cheap but lovely. Also - if you don’t already have some (and this is for anyone else who’s not Bf before) I’d really recommend some sleeping bras - which wrap over. I found it painful to sleep without something that I could pull down / across for feeding during the night.

Since2016 · 10/01/2019 20:05

Oh defintely it’s genetics. I’m prone to them anyway so knew I would get them tbh! These are just concentrated at the front as that’s where it is - it’s hilarious looking!

Surprisedmom · 10/01/2019 20:13

@Babynum2 I posted saying i’d bought some of these Lorna drew bras in the sale as I didn’t want to spend loads until I was sure of my size after my milk came in.

I’ve been wearing them and they’re very soft and comfy and I think they look nice too.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 10/01/2019 21:03

I second the sleep bras too... they are soft and comfortable, and you don’t have to be exact in the size, so they cope with boob fluctuation!

Babynum2 · 10/01/2019 21:40

@suprisedmom they are so nice!! I got the black one and the lace one iv estimated size so hopefully they fit what a bargain! They are actually nicer than my normal bras.

We are hopefully going home tomorrow i need to go out and buy some small baby clothes as nothing fits him bless hes so diddy think i need tiny baby stuff x

Surprisedmom · 10/01/2019 22:44

@Babynum2 how exciting that you’re going home tomorrow!

If it’s any use I know boots sell tiny baby stuff and a lot of their baby grows are £3 in the sale at the minute. I bought a few very cute ones when I dropped in to the pharmacy the other day.

Yakadee · 11/01/2019 08:22

@Babynum2 - that's great! Bet you can't wait to get back to your own space x

detachablehoof · 11/01/2019 09:47

Midwife weighed me this morning - I've put on 12 kg since booking. (about 1 st 12) no idea if that is normal or not but I still feel fairly trim. She said they only weigh you as some labour medication doses are based on weight and obviously your booking in weight won't be accurate.

She also asked me if I was planning to breastfeed and when I said I wasn't sure what to do but was pretty stressed about it, she really quickly said "oh don't do it then, it's not worth being stressed about" and told me just to get some of the premade formula to take to hospital. So relieved to have "permission" from the midwife to just forget BF and plan to FF from day 1!

AliceRR · 11/01/2019 10:12

I plan to BF but think I’ve read it’s a good idea to take formula to hospital just in case? I was going to get those Aptamil ready made bottles. They are quite expensive at £8 for 6(!) but they come sterile with the tears. How many would you take?

AliceRR · 11/01/2019 10:13

teats not tears (couldn’t think of the actual world you YKWIM)

powkin · 11/01/2019 10:21

Why are feet so far away?!

detachablehoof · 11/01/2019 11:10

@aliceRR I don't know how many to take - guess I'll take a pack of 6 and can always get more? And then I'm planning to have the perfect prep machine for at home.

@powkin definitely further than they used to be. I'm honestly beginning to wonder how on earth I'll be able to get dressed by the time I'm full term. Should I sign up for a carer now?!
