@StargazyDrifter that's sweet TFL send you a letter. My pregnant friend at work said the John Lewis appointment was great. Lol at go-karting 😂

@Laburna I am using those two cups of tea so tactically! Good to know re the layaway schemes

@wombatron my train is similar - you're right probably no one would notice the bob 🙄

@TheScaredyKat haha I was thinking the other day we are going to need a bigger bed...

@Squ1ggle barely functioning is exactly it!

@cravingmilkshake hope you get your scan date soon - can't imagine it will be far off

Hi @Yukka great news on your scan. Mine is an IVF pregnancy so I'm pretty nervous too. Have a hand hold!

@1sttimeunicorn welcome back and congrats on a girl

So sorry to hear about your colleague @Michelle0507 that's terrible

1sttimeunicorn · 03/01/2019 19:38

@Trying2bemum thanks for the welcome Smile

I just wondered are most people first time mums? I'm not, I have a DS who is a toddler.
Worried about coping with a newborn and a 2.5 year old. Hoping his speech improves so I can reason with him a bit more.
Another thing I seem to be worrying about is how much I love my DS and whether I will love my new baby as much! Is that mad?

Essexgirlupnorth · 03/01/2019 19:58

Jealous of everyone having scans my isn't till next week when I'll be 13 weeks just hoping baby isn't to big to do the nuchal.
Then hopefully won't have to hide it at work anymore. My 5 year old told the two friends we met up with today. I work with one so she is under strict instructions not to tell anyone else at work till I have had my scan. She had her suspicion when I disappeared out of work for 2 hrs on Friday for my booking appointment.
Think we are going to do a picture with my daughter with a sign saying being upgraded to big sister July 2019 for Facebook.
Just want my scan now to know everything is Ok as most of my symptoms seem to have gone now.

RooKangaroo · 03/01/2019 21:12

Hi everyone, and Happy New Year!

Fuck me, I've been away for ages. Didn't realise how long it's been - missed you guys. Christmas was a hazy period of HG sickness and toddler and family chaos, and I suddenly realised it had been a while since I came on here.

Hope you're all well! I've tried to skim read what I've missed, but apologies for not being 100% up to date because you're so chatty!

12-week scan today and all was well. Think I'll try and join the FB group now and see what's happening over there too.

Last thing to add - I'm another Londoner! Would love a meet-up at some point. Perhaps when babes arrive? x

ReginaPhalange89 · 03/01/2019 21:28

@1sttimeunicorn I'm pregnant with my 3rd ! Oldest is 6.5 years and then I've a 21 month old so she'll be around 2 years 4 months at my due date. Not going to lie, I'm worried haha. The age gap between them was good because the oldest was independent. But this time I'm worried about trying to get them all up and ready to do the school run etc 🙈

Squ1ggle · 04/01/2019 05:58

@1sttimeunicorn this is my 2nd, I have a 4 year old son. I'm not sure whether it will be a good age gap or not but we couldn't afford another baby before now due to nursery fees so our hands were tied really. I guess nobody ever knows how it's going to go but I'm sure well all be fine

FocusBear · 04/01/2019 06:14

Hi all. It's been awhile since I originally posted. These threads move way too quicker so I couldn't keep up. This is my first pregnancy and no one I can really ask or talk about it with nearly.

Can I ask has everyone told their work yet? Is after the 12w scan best time or are people waiting for after 20w scan? I'm 14w Tomo so was tempted to have a chat with my manager today about it as the appointments are starting to mount up. Be good to get someone aware at work but not yet ready to tell everyone. Literally only told our families in the last week.

TwinkleDay · 04/01/2019 07:30

Morning @FocusBear I told selected managers at work when I got my letter as I needed time off for the 12 week scan and doing the grand reveal to everyone else when I go back on Monday when I will be 15 +4 :) family have been told been Xmas and new year and then it's just a case of getting round friends. Think it will be Valentine's Day before we go Facebook official.

@RooKangaroo welcome back hope you had a nice festive period!

By the way I don't know if you have any New Years resolutions but mine and now my OH is to stop swearing as I don't want little ones around this language at least until they get to secondary school... but that's not going to happen for a very long time Grin

Yukka · 04/01/2019 07:54

@1sttimeunicorn my sister just had her second when first is 2.5. Eldest is adorable with the baby.... “do you know she’s my sister, and my best friend?” She also found eldest sort of instantly grew up a tiny bit, wanting to help, won’t nap anymore but is going to bed an hour earlier etc. I think it’s a nice age gap. Though my sis seems to bare perfect children!

@tryingtobeamum congrats on ivf pregnancy, how are you feeling?

@focusbear I told my boss at 6w but that was due to the nature of the pregnancy and a zillion early appointments were needed. However bare in mind whilst you are legally entitled to time off for your antenatal appointments this is only if you have told work you’re pregnant... I would probably tell your boss and HR rep(?) and let everyone else know when your ready. You probably only have a couple more weeks before you start to bump anyway!

1sttimeunicorn · 04/01/2019 08:04

Thanks @Yukka and others who have replied about 2nd children (or 3rd) that's reassuring. After all the issues I had having my DS, I didn't really want to leave it too long before trying for a second. Obviously happy it's worked out ok this time. Don't intend having anymore so need to try to enjoy being pregnant this time. I think it'll get easier when I can feel definite movements. I have already told my work because I had to have a few extra Drs appointments and felt like I was barely in the office! I also have a pretty large bump already which apparently is 'muscle memory' from my previous pregnancy. So it's hard to hide.

BirthdayKake · 04/01/2019 09:17

@1sttimeunicorn this will be baby 5 for me, but I still have those worries you do! However, when my 2nd was born, I said to my dad that I was scared I wouldn't love the new baby the same. He said "Love has no limit, so there is always enough to go round"... That helped loads! It's so true

GiGi18 · 04/01/2019 10:36

@FocusBear I haven't told my work yet, got my 12 week scan on Tuesday so have asked for the time off for a hospital appointment then I will tell my boss the next day. I didn't want to tell him earlier than the scan for a few reasons. I figure he thinks I'll make the time back for my appointment but when I tell him it was for a scan I won't have to! Maybe not the best way to do it but I didn't want to risk everyone knowing before my scan. I'll probably start telling other colleagues then. Two of my close work friends know and I think a few people might have guessed at the xmas party so I don't think it's going to be a huge surprise!

TwinkleDay · 04/01/2019 13:15

Got a scary letter in the post today... after some research is this normal?

All we want is a healthy happy baby 👶🏻 xx

Ringing in the New Year & 2nd trimester - July 2019!
BirthdayKake · 04/01/2019 13:16

@TwinkleDay that is a good result! My four babies were all similar results and they were fine x

TwinkleDay · 04/01/2019 13:23

@BirthdayKake thank goodness! I think my heart stopped there for a minute. Thank you! Figured they should of called me is it was anything worse x

BirthdayKake · 04/01/2019 13:39

@TwinkleDay no worries :) I'd be very happy to get that letter! X

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 04/01/2019 16:17

@TwinkleDay if you don't mind, how old are you?

I've had my screening results through today -

Downs 1 in 1800
1 in 50000
1 in 49000
(Can't remember which way round the other 2 were, as I got results over the phone)

Anyone else had their results? And happy to share with their age?

1sttimeunicorn · 04/01/2019 16:34

My results are about 1 in 10,000 for downs and edwards, 1 in 3000 for pataus but I was told that was influenced by hanging previously lost a baby with pataus Sad
I'm 34 and on the edge of the top of my BMI range.

1sttimeunicorn · 04/01/2019 16:35

Michelle0507 · 04/01/2019 16:42

I get mine through the post in about 8/10 days. She did say if they had concerns they'd contact within 7 days which would be Mon.

Squ1ggle · 04/01/2019 17:16

I'm still waiting for my results, my scan was Christmas eve. Got home to a letter from the hospital and thought it must be it but it was just about my iron levels Sad

RooKangaroo · 04/01/2019 17:31

@TwinkleDay, those are great results!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 04/01/2019 17:49

I'm not sure why, but it seems higher than I was expecting for downs.. Hmm

StargazyDrifter · 04/01/2019 17:56

Still waiting for my letter too but, like with Michelle, they said they'd phone me same day if there was a problem (NYE) and no one has.

I just got home to my first ever set of maternity clothes. Three dresses: one work, two casual. Because I was full of bloat water my tummy looked huge so I tried them on and they fitted well. Overall the bloated lump on legs in a baggy frock isn't a good look though! I suppose comfort will have to be the priority.

TwinkleDay · 04/01/2019 18:02

I am 26 with a bmi of 28.7 so actually they are quite good results aren't they.. was just the initial panic x
