Roo I think you've got it. It's not so much the colour pink, but the expectation that it's for girls and all those extra connotations. I would never want the child to end up thinking in that constrained way, girl or boy. My little niece is like that, chooses pink because that's what pretty means and wants to get married and have a baby etc. Don't even get me started! If the interest in pink genuinely comes from the child's own preferences and they are quite independent about it that's different.

Jxtina86 · 12/01/2019 12:08

@StargazyDrifter I'm at a similar stage. DH thinks I've got a bump too. I'm in two minds - it's definitely a bit rounder when I'm stood up and if I pull my stomach in, there is a bit that doesn't budge lol. But lying down, totally flat! Bizarrely someone asked me if I'd lost weight yesterday - they don't know I'm pregnant so made me chuckle as I swear I look like I've constantly had a big meal. Cannot wait for an actual bump to start appearing!

TwinkleDay · 12/01/2019 12:39

@RooKangaroo free was my nick name when I was in mums tummy given by dad and he genuinely wanted a boy lol... so when we told them at Xmas they were starting to call baby Fred again and it's kind of stuck. We aren't finding out it will be a surprise. And if it's a boy I don't think I will be an actual Fred :)

BeckyButterfly · 12/01/2019 13:23

I am only 12+5 and definitely showing but like you @StargazyDrifter not so much when I lie on my back. It’s like Im bloated and can’t suck it in! People are starting to notice it as well.

Kentishgal · 12/01/2019 13:56

I'll be 14 weeks on Tuesday. I am genuinely huge - my midwife said it's because it's my second. But nobody can quite believe how big I am (I'll try and upload a pic later). Also I am usually a size 6-8 so I think it shows quite quickly. Also I Alonso much pain, the nurse said it sounds like pgp so to ring midwife - I didn't have any of this with y daughter - I feel how I did at full term last time! 😵

Capybaras · 12/01/2019 14:10

I'm similar to you @StargazyDrifter - it's quite obvious if I wear a dress that there's a bump - jeans and top not so much and when I lie down nothing. But as it's the first I think a lot of people don't start showing until later on. 14+4 now!
Had our screening results back and all low risk so happy.

Loving all the spreadsheets - I work with a lot of data and had spreadsheets to calculate when we could start ttc, mat pay/leave etc but hadn't thought of one for all the baby's stuff! Makes really good sense so you don't buy things you already have! May have to make one!

StargazyDrifter · 12/01/2019 14:11

Kentishgal Sorry to hear about the pain. I think I have PGP too, and there have been some helpful tips on this thread here. I'm waiting for a musculoskeletal referral, but also going to find an osteopath because it seems to be taking ages.

Capybaras · 12/01/2019 14:11

@Kentishgal that sounds such an awkward situation but you did your best to minimise the pain for the sister and I think you handled it the best you could.

ReginaPhalange89 · 12/01/2019 14:23

I'm feeling like I've grown a bit over the last few days as well, I'll only be 12 weeks on Monday but 3rd baby and I had a decent sized bump by 14 weeks last time ! I just feel like my stomach looks really round ! I've had some pains the last few days so don't know if everything is stretching ?

ReginaPhalange89 · 12/01/2019 14:24

Also these days you can get loads of girly looking dinosaur stuff ! So they can still wear dinosaurs without looking "boyish" :) I've seen loads of little sleepsuots etc with dinosaurs but in more girly colours , still not pink!

BeckyButterfly · 12/01/2019 14:29

Rather than a gender identity issue, I think my baby may grow up feeling like he/she is a dinosaur!!

ReginaPhalange89 · 12/01/2019 14:38

11+5

Gilli1234 · 12/01/2019 14:41

Hi ladies. 13+3 today. Still no bump?? First baby and have no idea what I’m doing 😂

RooKangaroo · 12/01/2019 14:53

Ooh, nice bump, @ReginaPhalange89!

ReginaPhalange89 · 12/01/2019 14:59

@Gilli1234 I didn't have a bump with my first baby til about 18 weeks, and even then it wasn't really noticeable !

Capybaras · 12/01/2019 15:16

Wow amazing bump @ReginaPhalange89
I love dinosaurs too @BeckyButterfly and buying Dino stuff regardless of if it's a girl or boy!

StargazyDrifter · 12/01/2019 15:31

Regina loving that bump!

ReginaPhalange89 · 12/01/2019 15:43

Aw thank you, I just feel podgy though haha. Not feeling good at all today, I managed to get to this point with hardly and sickness and the last couple of days the nausea has ramped up a bit.

cherrylola · 12/01/2019 15:54

Hi! Can I join please? 3rd baby due 5th July, eek!!

Yukka · 12/01/2019 17:00

@regina you sure there aren’t two in there! I have a bulge/bump had to buy new jeans and couple if dresses but look really pregnant in the dresses so waiting till after next week to wear them. You must be scanning this week too?

StargazyDrifter · 12/01/2019 17:10

I also look more pregnant in dresses. I think maybe it's because the boobies have grown, so more for facric to hang from, plus also the bump. So I've been wearing separated and scarf-type things.

Yukka · 12/01/2019 17:14

@stargazydrifter -same - lots if scarves and jackets of work. Certain I had a couple of funny looks / double takes this week.

StargazyDrifter · 12/01/2019 17:54

Yes, I did too! We don't have to dress very smartly most of the time so people notice. Just one more week to go!

Giraffe888 · 12/01/2019 18:34

I’m a size 6 with a completely flat tummy so anyone who knows me can tell!!

Here's an interesting problem...

I have three key relations (DM, MiL and my own Nana) who all want to be identified as the same name for the baby, 'Nana'. Will this be confusing for a little one?
