Thank you ladies. I havent been this bad before, a cup of coffee normally does the trick and I think I'll have to have one as it's bad. I loves grapes haven't had any for a week, I have been drinking some juices like the berry ones etc but will try Apple. I wouldn't be able to have prune juice it's not the one for me. Lol!

Trying2bemum · 08/01/2019 18:50

I'm so so sorry about your cat @BirthdayKake ☹️ we are totally obsessed with our cat, it's so painful to even imagine this happening. Sending you lots of love xxx

Capybaras · 08/01/2019 18:51

So sorry to hear that @BirthdayKake I was so devastated when my dog passed away. They're such a big part of the family!

Had my '12 week' scan today at 14 weeks! Managed to do all the measurements needed and everything look ok! Was so relieved to see baby again! Going to tell work tomorrow (my line manager knows but tell everyone else!)

Still feeling quite tired and nauseous when hungry but compared to others that nothing! Also have lots of lovely spots on my chin constantly - good old hormones!

Bought a few bits in the sales for baby, and ordered some clothes earlier - things are getting more real! Signed up for a yoga class but unsure on NCT classes as I know a few people having babies around the same time, so hoping they'll be my mat leave friends!

Hope everyone else is good

Notanotherpawpatrol · 08/01/2019 18:51

Craving I'm confused about that too, when I saw a midwife yesterday she asked if I was taking folic acid, I said I wasn't and she said I needed to make sure I took it from now on. I didn't question her, but wished I had. I wonder if the guidelines have changed? I was always told to stop at 12 weeks too 🤔

Michelle0507 · 08/01/2019 18:56

My MW told me at 12w just take Vit D I said I was going going to continue with the Boots one a day Folic Acid & Vit D she said it was okay to do so.

cravingmilkshake · 08/01/2019 18:58

@Notanotherpawpatrol on every website including NHS it says to stop taking it at 12 weeks as the main reason is for the neuro tube to develop which it would have by now. So I am confused as to why they tell me at 12 weeks exactly to start taking 5mg?

I'll call my doctor tomorrow- it's put me in a strange mood and now I feel grumpy and confused!

HchyScott · 08/01/2019 19:03

@cravingmilkshake do you mean an extra 5mg? I was always told the minimum folic acid to take was 400mg but no idea whether I should be stopping taking it now, at the moment I’m still taking the Tesco pregnancy vitamins so I’ll check with midwife at 16week check.

Yukka · 08/01/2019 19:07

I asked today and was told I can atopic folic acid at 12 if it’s a single supplement, if it’s part of a pregnancy vitamin then it’s fine to continue throughout. Maybe @cravingmilkshake she thought now is better than not at all? Speaking to gp is good idea.

Capybaras · 08/01/2019 19:07

@cravingmilkshake my midwife told me to stop taking folic acid at 12 weeks but to continue taking a general multivit/pregnancy vit. I'm now taking the boots pregnancy vits which has folic acid. I was under the impression that if your body doesn't need it it'll just be weed out, so won't cause any harm. Odd that they now want you to take additional but must have their reasons!

AnnaBegins · 08/01/2019 19:10

Aw Kake I'm so sorry about your cat!!

Folic acid wise, the advice is stop at 12 weeks. The recent increase in tongue tie cases may be linked to increased taking of folic acid so I'm definitely stopping at 12 weeks. The Neuro tube is developed by then.

AnnaBegins · 08/01/2019 19:18

@RooKangaroo connectas are brill aren't they! And not too hot either with the light waistband. We have one too.

The calin bleu is a woven wrap, they normally do cotton gauze ones which are super thin but mine's a linen prototype which I got to test. I love woven wraps so if you do fancy trying them again I'm here to help! Is it a hana bamboo wrap you've got? They're fairly cool. I have a thin woven wrap with bamboo in that I've just remembered so that should be ok in summer too.

I went back to work at 12 months too but slings were useful for the nursery run (ring sling with DH in the morning, wrap with me in the evening) and we'd been back carrying since about 5 months so even if he complained he was out of the way at least Grin DS still goes up very occasionally at 3.5 when he really wants to.

Twistering · 08/01/2019 19:26

Hi all, just popping head in, can’t keep up work is so nuts! Hello to all the newbies!

@BirthdayKate so sorry to hear about your cat, rubbish news.

Anxiety levels bad as not having weekly scans anymore (14 weeks today hopefully) so have caved and booked a private one tomorrow! Worth 40 quid right?!

MakeAWhish · 08/01/2019 19:26

@cravingmilkshake I have a bmi over 30 and was told to take extra folic acid at my booking apt too. But she did say only up until 12 weeks, so I'd definitely question it.
@BirthdayKake so sorry to hear about your cat xx

Michelle0507 · 08/01/2019 19:53

I've used the hot water bottle loads as I've had stretching pain and it's helping with my contispation pain, in the shittiest voice possible the other half just said "its clearly no good for the little one you keep having the hot water bottle on you!" I said you take this pain and discomfort. God he's pissed me off!

RooKangaroo · 08/01/2019 19:59

My BMI is over 30 and I've been prescribed extra folic acid until week 14. Not sure why that week specifically, but I'll go until then and then just switch to normal prenatal vits. I'm also taking aspirin until 14 weeks because of a genetic blood disorder I have, so I feel like a massive pill cocktail addict at the moment.

@BirthdayKake, I'm so sorry about your cat. That's devastating news. I completely understand the feline love :(

@AnnaBegins, I'm definitely interested in a light wrap like that, so I think I'll be knocking down your door for help in how it works!

Yes, I think my Hana one is bamboo, but I think it would still be too much if we had that heatwave weather again. Might invest in a calin bleu nearer the summer.

RooKangaroo · 08/01/2019 20:00

@Michelle0507, that is NOT a helpful thing to say. Does he want to be buried under the patio? 😆

Michelle0507 · 08/01/2019 20:04

@RooKangaroo I'm getting the life insurance policy out as i type! Lol!!! I said there is a lot between the baby and the hot water bottle!!

mrsof20118 · 08/01/2019 20:06

Another 12 week scan question ladies. Do they tell you a risk there and then or have to wait for the letter to come in the post?

Capybaras · 08/01/2019 20:12

@mrsof20118 I got told my NT reading there and then but have to wait a couple of weeks for blood test results to get actual risk. Think it varies by trust though!

StargazyDrifter · 08/01/2019 20:21

So sorry about the cat BirthdayKake ☹️ Sending you hugs.

DianaBlythe that's really good to know about the yoga! I will definitely get on with it.

Doighnuts annoying it's 6 months. If you have a look on the ACAS website they should have decent guidance somewhere about pregnancy and work rights, so that might also help you frame your thoughts.

I'm afraid I don't know about the folic acid q but had also thought it's less essential after 12 weeks and you just pee it out.

I had my abnormalities result back today: 1:800 Downs and 1:20,000 for the other two. They don't say if it's high or low risk though. Does anyone else know if 1:800 is high or low? I'm waiting for my NIPT results too, hopefully a bit more reassuring.

Now, a female boss was chatting to me in the loo and squeezed my belly 😖 I didn't know where to look! It was awful. Not like it's showing but she does know. DH says I should have squeezed hers back! 😂

whogivesaratzass · 08/01/2019 20:23

@Michelle0507 dried apricots!!! Only thing that works for me. Tried absolutely everything last time round including prescription meds and these had 100% success rate Blush

Michelle0507 · 08/01/2019 20:27

Milky coffee did the trick! ;) Always does for me, I just didn't fancy one don't like the after taste and I don't really drink coffee. I'd be on the loo all the time if I did, lol!!

It's 7 days today since my scan still no letter so I'm assuming things must be ok.

Giraffe888 · 08/01/2019 20:40

@michelle0507 before getting pregnant I used a hot water bottle often for IBS. My nurse friend advised me not to use it hot when pregnant, only warm x

Michelle0507 · 08/01/2019 20:43

@Giraffee888 oh heck, I don't let the kettle fully boil but it's hot. I actually have some marks on my tummy from it that have been there 3 days - it doesn't seem that hot to me. Blush

TwinkleDay · 08/01/2019 20:47
