@TwinkleDay that's awful. I'm really nervous. I really don't know what to do. I work from home so I won't actually meet my manager for a couple of weeks

GiGi18 · 08/01/2019 11:21

@TwinkleDay thank you, that puts my mind at rest a bit that I'm not the only one. We did see heartbeat and he pointed out the stomach, brain etc which all looked fine. Guess I'll take it as another chance to see bubba!

StargazyDrifter · 08/01/2019 11:55

GiGi18 that hallened in my scan - baby not cooperating and having to jump, go to the loo, drink water etc. It took almost an hour but we got there. I think the sonographer got in trouble with their boss for not asking me to come back later. It should still be fine a week on for measuring. Don't worry! Easier said than done, I know.

Doughnuts do you know how long the probation is? Should be this way but is there any chance it's v short, like 2 months, and you can just about wait? Might be a rubbish idea. Best place to start are the co's HR policoes on maternity.

TwinkleDay · 08/01/2019 12:17

@GiGi18 might be better off working from home really at least you are in your own environment it's just annoying if you were to learn all this new stuff and then get sacked... I'm still waiting to hear about or company's restructuring as there may be some redundancies

RooKangaroo · 08/01/2019 12:39

@annabegins, is a calin bleu wrap a stretchy material, or more like a traditional woven wrap?

It took me a couple of months to properly get into slings last time, but I ended up using my Connecta almost every day from 3-12 months. DD them started walking and wasn’t keen on being carried so much, plus I was back at work from 12 months so didn’t try it anywhere near as much. She very quickly forgot about being carried and didn’t like it on the few occasions I tried. I was a bit sad about it but she’s always been happier walking and we stopped using the park completely when she turned two (and dropped her nap).

Anyway, I’ve got a hana/hanna stretchy wrap that I’d like to use again, plus the my Connecta when baby is a little bigger. But agree with others that it’s going to be hot doing carrying this summer.

Interested in a calin bleu - but I’ve always been rubbish with the traditional/woven style!

RooKangaroo · 08/01/2019 12:40

Stopped using the pram, not park....

GiGi18 · 08/01/2019 12:43

@StargazyDrifter that's so good they just kept trying with you! I was gutted when he said they had ran out of time, he said they were just so busy after Christmas etc that I would have to go back next week. Wish I could have gone back tomorrow. I will try not to worry. Still got a decent scan pic which I can't stop staring at!

wombatron · 08/01/2019 12:52

Just swinging through to say hi. I won't have time to read through all I've missed and no doubt it will be more by time I'm back! 👋🏼

Will catch up with you when I have a bit more time!

Hi all, hope you're all doing well. Totally sympathise with the anxiety - I've got my dating scan next week and can definitely feel nerves building.

Will be 12 weeks tomorrow and finally stopping the IVF injections and suppositories. It feels pretty weird stopping - I've been injecting myself daily since October. Am so used to it.

Otherwise just starving, nauseous and exhausted all the time!

TheScaredyKat · 08/01/2019 13:14

I also had the same problem @GiGi18, had to do lots of jumping! One time the baby landed on its little head and you could see the spine vertically on the screen which was a bit frightening! I quickly got up and jumped again! Eventually he/ she got in the right position but took a long time and had to go out and come back in again

GiGi18 · 08/01/2019 14:33

@TheScaredyKat aww, they can get themselves into some right positions can't they! Just a shame it's not the right ones!

I am so reassured to know it's not just me and looking forward to seeing my baby again in another week and some more time off work, hehe! Unfortunately my husband won't be able to come next week so my mum will come with me. The baby is due on her birthday which is lovely too! X

DianaBlythe · 08/01/2019 15:24

@Stargazydrifter - I went to my first pregnancy yoga last night at 15 weeks and they were so lovely. She said not to do some of the things if they might make me sick but actually it was all fine. I’ve never done yoga or anything like that before really. I run and walk and cycle and am reasonably cardiovascularly fit but no muscle strength or anything. It was very gentle but I can see how it’s probably going to be good for me and better than sitting on the sofa! Go for it!

BirthdayKake · 08/01/2019 16:59

Hope everyone's ok. Just checking in. 13 weeks now and the kids were back at school. First time I've done the school run since mid November. Really pleased that I managed it.

Unfortunately then came home to the news that our lovely cat had been run over and killed. My nausea hasn't completely gone and it was upsetting too so I didn't want to get him, but a friend picked him up and put him in a box for me. Poor thing. He's gone to be cremated x

HchyScott · 08/01/2019 17:14

@BirthdayKake oh god I’m so sorry, I can’t imagine how awful that must be, my cat is literally my fur baby, sending huge hugs to you xx

Jxtina86 · 08/01/2019 17:26

@BirthdayKake I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. How awful. I've got cats and they really do become a huge part of your life and it's devastating when something like this happens. Hope you're okay. x

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 08/01/2019 17:42

@BirthdayKake Sorry to hear about your sad news.

@StargazyDrifter no, unfortunately probation is 6 months. Really hate lying. I'm bad at keeping secrets. I'm going to see if I can find out the maternity policy tomorrow

Notanotherpawpatrol · 08/01/2019 17:55

Oh birthdaykate, so sorry about your cat :(

Michelle0507 · 08/01/2019 17:57

Omg @BirthdayKake no!!! I'd be beside myself I'm so glad mine don't go out.

Always had to get active at the scan but due to the baby being active it's self.

Ladies hit me up fast with what works for constipation I look 6 months pregnant and I'm at that uncomfy stage. It hasn't been bad for a while. Do people take something regular to help?

First day back at work today it felt so good

Jxtina86 · 08/01/2019 18:11

@Michelle0507 some people say prune juice helps with constipation but I can't stand the stuff! I tried apple juice instead which seemed to work just as well. I just find that if I keep my water intake high I don't get as bad.

cravingmilkshake · 08/01/2019 18:12

I have a question- my midwife just phoned (who I haven't met yet) as another midwife did my booking in appointment. She asked how much folic acid am i taking and I said I've just been taking the pregnacare- and she said I need to be taking 5mg as my BMI is over 30.

She said I need to phone the doctor tomorrow to get a prescription- I am 12 weeks pregnant - I read that you stop taking folic acid at 12 weeks? I am slightly confused. Please help Smile

Yukka · 08/01/2019 18:14

@birthdaykake sorry to hear about your cat 🐈 I have one too x

Glad to hear everyone’s scan stories :) just back from booking appointment 12w scan is Monday and seeing specialist next Wednesday so fingers crossed I’m nearly at all systems go for this baby!

For constipation I’m eating fruit and fibre cereal most days but the two things that deff get me going are grapes and pears, every day I have them in the evening and seems to do the trick overnight. The cereal in its own doesn’t seem to do it !

Yukka · 08/01/2019 18:19

@jxtina86 I also tried beetroot juice, but that was a mistake - went the complete opposite ...🙈

BirthdayKake · 08/01/2019 18:25

Thanks girls xx

He hardly ever goes anywhere and the main road is right over a big horse field so I'm shocked tbh. It's definitely him though, I could tell by the collar. The DC want another one but we can't risk this happening again!

Booked a holiday to Butlins for October to cheer them up. Never been before. Seems weird booking a holiday for an unborn baby! Looking forward to it though.

I thought I felt the baby move earlier (like being tickled from the inside) but I've got an anterior placenta so I'm doubtful!

HchyScott · 08/01/2019 18:32

@Michelle0507 I feel your pain, I was suffering bad last week due to dropping the habit of grapes and apple juice! They really really help although my best friend has to take lactalose every day to help her.

mrsof20118 · 08/01/2019 18:39

I'm so sorry @BirthdayKake. Losing a pet is so awful x
